Isabel Oakeshott hits out at Dominic Cummings after he unveiled plans for a new 'start-up party' to replace the Conservatives.
Speaking to the i paper, he said the new party could capitalise on the expected collapse in the Tory vote at the next general election and claimed a majority of the electorate would support a party that is “completely different” to Labour and the Tories.
Isabel says: "I can't begin to tell of how ludicrous this is".

  • It’s not as ludicrous as it sounds, I think he is the wrong person to do it, and presumably it would be the same clowns as are in the current Tory party or Labour Party, but the electorate would be up for it because we are sick and tired of politicians campaigning promising and then not delivering and doing as they like! It’s time to get away from the Labour Tory BS, none of them are fit to lead this country!

  • The people of this country are desperate for a leader to get this country back on track as opposed to the complete rubbish that we have at present, or waiting in the wings. He's a man who gets things done. He wanted to sort the home office out but they undermined him and were finally instrumental in getting rid of him.

  • The fact, nearly all the MPs have had NOTHING to say in public about the 'jab harms' (especially, after many being e-mailed regarding this by their constituents), would more than suggest they are NOT in the job for the right reasons. If they were, the above issue would've been an immediate red flag, and those individuals would therefore not have kept quiet.

  • The trick up Cummings’ sleeve could be to find a charismatic leader for his new entity from within the crumbling conservative party. Who knows, maybe there’ll be quite a few defections from the conservatives to Startup. In the meantime, he could just sit in a back room, formulating policies from the shadows.

  • Proportional representation wouldn’t be good for Britain, because it just produces gridlock and professional politicians. You also wouldn’t be able to get rid of the leader unless they themselves decide to step down as Merkel did in Germany who was there for over 20 years. The first past the post system is tried and tested. You have a marjority government, and the other parties form together to keep the government in check.

    • Fpp hasn't produced a majority govt since the 1950s. Check the votes not the seats. An M P can win the seat with less than 30%of the vote. It's an outdated archaic system that needs replacing. Just about every govt in Europe uses some form of P R.

      @royboy565@royboy56512 күн бұрын
    • We've only used FPtP everywhere in the UK since around 1950 (or 1884 in any major form). It's not like it's been here the entire time we've voted
