    • Thats disappointing, watched Will Prowse and a couple other people tear these open and they had the blue prismatic cells everyone is use to seeing. Was about to order their 280Ah model Amazon thats going for 589 assuming their entire lineup used these cells. After watching your video though I went back and youre right, they make no mention.of the cells or construction type... I mean for 12v 280Ah its still a great price but id much rather have the hard case prismatic

  • This was a very important video! Makes me wonder how many other batteries have made this switch. It seems like the norm to put out a good product in the beginning then switch once they build a reputation. Before purchasing we must now ask which cells they are using. Put them on the spot!

  • When researching chins before buying my batteries I found it discussed that chins had a supply issue with prismatic cells and had to substitute with pouch for a short amount of time. Their customer service is great and all pouch cell battery buyers on the forum contacted chins and they sent them prismatic cell batteries as a swap out at no cost for shipping or anything. I bought 2x100ah 12v batteries, contacted chins as soon as I received them to ensure they were prismatic. They immediately asked for the serial number, then confirmed they were prismatic. They have performed as advertised and with my experience of their customer service and reading others experience I'm a fan despite the pouch fiasco. Sorry to see you had a bad experience! Be sure to get ahold of them and they'll send you a new one I'm sure. -Bob, B.C🇨🇦

  • That 4th cell is the first to hit low voltage protect, and the first to hit high voltage protect. Means It's lower capacity than the rest, and it will never balance out properly to get you full capacity of the battery. Bummer. I do however think it's neat to see different internals. Great vid!

  • Bought 4 of these for a 48v golf cart. Burned out 3 of the 100a BMS's (even though my cart runs well within its operating specification monitoring current in real time). Ended up de-casing them and making a custom pack with a reasonable 48v 250a Daly BMS and they work great now. The construction of yours is way better done than mine was. Glad to see they used actual bolts to keep them compressed. Mine was just tape and silicone. Spec sheet says each 50ah cell is capable of 150a pulse, 100a continuous, so 4s2p config these cells "can" do 300a.

I contacted them and they sent out a new battery and told me to dispose of the bad one. Now I'm wondering if they sent me a pouch battery as a replacement. Also the 3rd set of Chins was advertised as having low temperature protection, and none of the others were. I'm not a fan of pouch cells. I think maybe I'll try weighing each battery to see if I can spot a difference

  • I enquired to Chins as to the type of cells I purchased. They responded with soft pack or pouch cells (they determine by serial number). I complained for the same reasons as stated in this review. They agreed to replace the cells with PRISMATIC. I received a PRE-PAID return authorization and received 2 new 100A batteries from Chins stating the replacements were prismatic (I did not open). They tested to spec. I must complement Chins for their immediate response and cooperation. I even received the replacement cells before they received my return. If these new batteries are, in fact, prismatic I would rate their customer service as superior. YMMV!

  • I have 2 Chins smart batteries. I had to balance both of them in order to charge over 14.1v. I have 4 Timeusb purchased as 2 sets of 2. One from each set was badly out of balance. It took about 2 weeks to get them balanced. Now my first pair will shut off at 14.53 to 14.54 volts and the second pair shuts off at 14.51 to 14.52 volts. I just spent another week trying to balance all 4 with no change, so that's as good as it gets.

    • @@Roll2Videos More annoying than fun, to be sure. Rewarding tho, to be able to full charge without the bms kicking off. And I picked up 2Ah on the Chins and several Ah on the timeusb. (getting 110Ah and the bms is still alive!) I suspect the factory doesn't balance, or maybe they balance if the battery fails capacity testing? One of my Chins reported 4 cycles when I received it, the less balanced one only 1 cycle.

  • Question: If a pouch cell is used inside a casing, does it then become a prismatic cell? What I found on the web: A prismatic cell is a cell whose chemistry is enclosed in a rigid casing. Its rectangular shape allows efficiently stacking multiple units in a battery module. There are two types of prismatic cells: the electrode sheets inside the casing (anode, separator, cathode) are either stacked or rolled and flattened. Now I'm more confused. Either way, thanks for the video!

  • It is likely you got one of their normal batteries. Most tubers they send out batteries they know is their best and others will buy based on the good reviews. I have been having issues two others right now, first (resolved) was an Apretime 200 Ah and right now an EG4 rack 12V 400 ... it is being sent back... less than three months of use and .. it still has 5 year (low) warranty. What are these quick money sellers doing? Reputation is worth more than gold or silver ... and people will say I am nuts.

I had trouble with them shutting off under charge at 13.8-14v rather then 14.4. They also do not meet discharge amperage ratings. I’ve had them repeatedly shut down after several minutes at 80-90% rated continuous discharge. Fail on top of fail.

  • All the lithium batteries come from China. These have the best reviews on Amazon. Not sure what you guys think you are going to buy. Battle born is 60% more expensive with Chinese parts put together with American hands. I got the 300 ah chin on the way. They are second to battle born by the majority. Get your lithium before you can’t. So he recommends another Chinese battery with a lower review nobody has heard of ... lol

    • I read all the comments on this battery at Amazon. It’s more expensive than Chins, and the customer service is nowhere near as good as chins. Any battery can have a problem, if I have a problem I want customer service to remedy it fast which chins does according to everyone. Any of these Chinese kids installing can make a mistake on any given day. The battery has a great warranty and service nothing less than battle born batteries, maybe better from what I’ve heard...

    • @@samcarrs Your comment about kids is pretty rude. You do realize a lot of these Amazon reviews are fake right? Like a huge number of them. You can trust that or someone who filmed all the tests and opened the battery and showed the internals. Some average Joe on amazon or someone who spends year's focusing on this very topic. All the best to you brother.

  • Chins is bad, part of a group of 12 in one importer union. But Chins has a problem, it's a WOKE employee ran all female with 3 USA women in charge. ( current politics in USA related to their bad decisions like Bud Light if your up to date ) so they are picking a lousy assembler in north China unlike its sister brands using south east china. So its poorest built in this line up. They are using same assembly makers as Wulills & LISUATELI tech and cells that makes Kepworth suck.
