    • Even now, when I play a game, having a tough time getting over a difficulty curve, I will just play The Sims, with a household of 8, to see if I can survive a week. It takes quite bit to achieve this, but once done, it gives that boost of confidence to finally conquer those pesky bosses. I didn't understand why this would work, but now that I am thinking about it, you have to train your brain to multitask on multiple Sims simultaneously, while distractions are continuously being thrown into the mix (i.e. burglars, mood swings, ghosts of those you eagerly killed on your lot, rude neighbors, etc.), so to survive an entire week, and going to any game, where you normally have just one boss to contend with, your brain feels like it was awarded a vacation. 😂

  • The worst thing about Sims 1 is the needs decay WAY TOO QUICKLY. You'll spend too much time managing their needs and in the end they'll either starve to death, pass out, or pee themselves constantly. All while trying to work and go to school and keep your kids from being sent to military school. Yeah Sims 1 is charming but highly flawed. You can't even use the expansion packs because you're too busy with their needs. Sims 2 fixed this and had max motives cheat.

    @DarkeningDemise@DarkeningDemise10 ай бұрын
  • There's also no denying that the Sims 1 is probably the most difficult Sims game, followed by the Sims 2 (in terms of meeting a Sim's needs). Fire was also much more of a threat, since the Sims themselves were hilariously awful at dealing with it- even selecting the extinguish option with cause the sim to use the extinguisher right where they were standing instead of moving away from the fire, creating a prime opportunity for things to go very wrong. The game seems to get easier (to meet their needs) with each successive release (not that I'm complaining, personally I think the Sims 3's difficulty is the best, since I don't have to worry way too much on maintaining their needs and focus more on exploring the map)

  • Great video. About the humor aspects, I agree that the sims 1 is more refined than most games I've played, but I can't deny that I've came by a very clever joke in one of the most recent products of the franchise, although I'm not sure it was all intentional lol. While playing the new the sims 4 expansion, the high school one, I came by a sim in the T pose. Of course, going in blind on the pack, and knowing that the game can be quite buggy, I was sure it was the actual thing and just ignored it. After some time I decided to click on that sim and just coudn't hold my laughter after seeing in the options: "Ask about the T pose contest". I love that kind of joke in videogames, and it fits perfectly in the sims. At the same time it is a kind of parody of the younger generations and their weird "challenges" on the internet:and also a inside joke for those who are familiar with videogames and their bugs, not to mention the break of expectations of course, but like I said, im not sure if that part was though out by the developers to actually caught people offguard or I was just lucky to not see a single teaser for the pack lol. But anyway, that big text is just me saying that behind all the greediness of EA, there's still people there who actually likes what they are doing and wants to make a fun sims game. I hope they get to show more of their talent on the next game.

I ended up building a second floor just to be extra safe, stuck all the necessities (and a hot tub), the bassinet, and the parents upstairs. Got them fired from their jobs and deleted the stairs, leaving them trapped but at least comfortable enough to survive until the baby finally grew up. Afterwards the Baby Prison became a staple of all my future sims 1 playthrus.

  • I remember buying The Sims when it first released, after reading gaming magazine hype for about a year before release. Sadly, though I did expect it, the current PC at home didn't have the grunt to play it. I used part of my uni student loan to buy a massive gaming PC and sank so many hours into it. I had a lot of fun, and probably went through the 5 stages of grief when my most engaging Sim, Dr. Pid Young died - of a virus that came with the fan made, downloadable hamster. Sims 2 was great in that it had life cycles, weekends and job hours. I perfered Sims 3 the best, especially with the World Adventures pack. 4 just felt cheap, shallow and vapid. All the charm was gone. The base game being less padded was offensive. The stuff packs and expansions seem rushed, glitchier than usual and are really kinda meh. There's no real innovation, there's nothing to pull you in, and keep you there. I dabble on occassion, but honestly, I haven't had it installed for quite some time. Gone are the days where I'd blow hours into it, now it's like a 20 minutes faff around, and then I'm bored or frustrated. I also miss the family tree being more detailed. So yeah, I'd say Sims 1 is far superior to Sims 4.

  • I agree with almost everything but I am disappointed that some cool features weren't mentioned. First of all, every new expansion which added a sub-neighborhood had its unique way of transport like a tram for unleashed or an air balloon for makin magic. Secondly, the sims 1 actually had proper wall-building details which are not present even in the sims 2. That detail is a wooden pillars that is visible when the player measures how long his or her wall is going to be. This style of building walls is used in some countries including the US. And lastly, depending on the order installing expansion packs some of the pre-existing builds were updated. For example, with the correct way of installing packs, lots from vacation island could be adjusted for pets. The only thing I disagree with what you said in the video is music because the soundtracks for Vampires and Realm of Magic are the most climatic of the entire the sims 4 soundtracks.

The Sims 1 is actually filled with many details which are not present in ts2/ts3/ts4 like actual working catwalk for models, some kind of record studio where it was possible to record some songs from superstar. The most interesting thing is that some feature didn't returned or returned pretty late like snowy part of the map where there is snow nonstop from Vacation returned in Snowy Escape Ex. Even game creators around the time of Cottage Living release said that CL will pair well with Realm of magic that is because combination of CL and RoM allows to recreate some part of gameplay from Makin Magic. What makes me sad is that some kind of fashion model career never returned so is middle size of aquarium/fish tank.

It could take SIM DAYS if not a sim week to make this happen. That promotion wasn't just handed to you! This is where Sims4 goes wrong - it's not real life without the struggle. Same with getting married in Sims1 - THAT takes a lot of time and work like it would in real life. Sims4 is so easy that nothing feels like an accomplishment YOU earned and should feel proud of so... what's the point?

    • Life by You seems to be the most promising life sim game in development in my opinion, but I would agree that it's the ugliest at this point. I think Paralives will give Sims 4 lovers a gorgeous aesthetic, it's a different style but still a little more beautiful and cartoonish. Who knows what the final products will be though, honestly if I get a colour wheel I'll be happy

So I'm playing a digital copy right now, and the old S1 store stuff like the foosball table finally works so I might stick with this digital copy even after I rescue my disc. Even started posting a game every Sunday night. 3 of my old fave mod websites still exist! Oddsim, Around the Sims, and C&C Enterprises, I found them again.

  • Here's my ranking list for The Sims games: 1. The Sims 3. First off, this game has a huge nostalgia factor for me. I remember playing it on the XBOX 360 like a decade ago. I also love the open world, the huge customization factor, and just the over all style. 2. The Sims 2. This game's attention to detail is CRAZY. It's way ahead of its time and even rivals the best of the best in the modern years! The realistic genetic system also can't be beat. The only real takeaway I have is that it's the most unstable in the series. 3. The Sims FreePlay. This game also has a nostalgia factor for me. I mainly rank it this high because of just how much there is to do. I like the quest system, despite it not being in line with the rest of the games. Can't beat the feeling of unlocking a whole new gameplay feature by completing quests! 4. The Sims Online. Hoo, boy! This one I don't have too much experience with, personally, but I have played one of its unofficial revivals (specifically FreeSO) and from what I can tell, it's really fun. It's even more difficult than The Sims in that you start the game with no money at all and no house, and you have to get a job and work for a super long time until you can actually get a house as the lots are so freaking expensive. Would definitely recommend playing. 5. The Sims 4. While not made with as much love or attention as the other games, it's still fun to come back to every now and then. I find it ridiculous that the base game takes up twice the disk space that The Sims 3 + Pets takes up though. Not the best Sims game, but probably not quite the worst. 6. The Sims. I don't really see this one with the same rose-tinted glasses as those who were around in the early 2000s do (I personally was born in 2008), but I can see how revolutionary and astonishing it was back then. The only reason it's this low on the list is because we've been spoiled with the features the newer games offer. I still love it though. 7. The Sims Mobile, The Sims Medieval, and every other Sims game I haven't played. I dunno, I've never played them.
