Honda CR250 Full Restoration - Part 13 - Braking News!

2022 ж. 16 Мау.

So... umm... yeah this week I'm sad so announce I failed to deliver on my promise, the bike isn't running yet but don't let that fool you into thinking I've not made lots of progress.
In todays episode I fully restore the the front braking system, so caliper, reservoir and master cylinder have all been stripped down, re-finished and rebuilt using all new seals and springs.
The rear brake has also been put back together again and is working as new. I also managed to get the nice clutch and throttle cables installed and routed nicely through the frame and connected up to the bar controls and that's about it for this episode sadly its not as much progress as I would like to have made but hey I can only work with what I've got....right?
Until next time stay safe,
Enjoy

Honda CR250 Restoration - Part 13 - Braking News!

  • I'm glad you are all enjoying the video, For those commenting about the pistons being mounted upside down, they are not. The pistons are plastic with a metal capping, If fitted the other way around the edge of the metal cap would catch the oil and dust seal and tear them apart not to mention the whole point of having a metal cap on the plastic piston is to stop the pad wearing the plastic piston away and the diagrams of these calipers also show metal cap facing out so yes they are fitted correctly and not upside down.

    • I did still spot a deliberate mistake. You've used regular grease on the brake caliper slider rubbers. I've done that before, the rubber absorbs the grease and swells, causing the caliper to seize and the boots to rip. You'll be replacing those boots again after a few months.

The grease because it gets dirty with the brake dust and the treadlock because the steel bolt tents to stick with the aluminium caliper and the get stuck very often! The restoration is mindblowing btw!
