Knowing the feel this show is going for, I saw it coming from a mile away, but thought for a second that they weren't going to do it when I saw Gummigoo go through the portal. That was wrong
If Pomni remembers something from her past she would have been a game developer. She knows what this space is but never said it out loud. But she knew what this space was so was calm during the event. Even saying "We are under the map." she knows about this space.

If she exist any time around 2010-2025 and played games, she would know about the concept of maps and the space where things are stored. Its pretty well known in internet culture.

She said 'i THINK we are under the map' in a questioning tone, not 'we are under the map' in a nonchalant tone. So I believe it would be somewhat unlikely considering her actual reactions AND interactions.
Gummigoo and Pomni talking in the "backrooms" and Kaufmo's funeral almost made me cry And it takes a lot to make me cry, this episode was deep...

But at the end of this episode Pomni recalls the dream she had in the beginning of the episode and we see others hands pull her out of the hole she was in. To show no matter dark her situation is at the circus, their will be people here to help you out.

This is simply a map preload area. Very common thing in video game development. Many games preload copies of NPCs into an inaccessible location outside the map, in order to skip disk loading when they need to appear.
There are a lot of out-of-bound exploration channels on KZhead, where they explore lots of famous games and show us what objects exist outside the map.
Valve games are a good reference for this.
I generally agree, but Caine himself is an AI. This is confirmed already. The wiki even says that Caine stands for "Creative Artificial Intelligence Networking Entity". Someone else must have created Caine and is the real person in control. Caine did say that there are limits to his power after all.
Tbh digital circus gives that eerie, backrooms and randomness that has some deep meaning vibe to which i really love about this series👏🏻🙌🏻
A bummer they had to remove him. I really think they could’ve developed on his and Pomni’s possible friendship with him part of the official troupe. The backrooms and funeral were especially my favorite scenes, it really emphasizes the “depression” theme of the episode. Fingers crossed they reuse him again. 🤞😁

The fact that Caine said "if i start losing track of who’s a human and who’s a npc, who knows what could happen." When he said that their is a chance that Caine deleted a human before.

Hello Circus Master, I have another theory for you. Perhaps Jax is an NPC that slipped from Caine's memory of being his creation. I say this because when the gang was hosting the funeral for Kaufmo, Jax was the only one that chose not to attend. The funeral was meant to show off the character's humanity, and with Jax not attending, perhaps it's foreshadowing to him not being from reality. Also, Caine said that he "didn't want NPCs to mix with the human characters" which implies to us that that is a problem that Caine had dealt with before. We know that Jax is sneaky, so perhaps he was able to trick Caine into thinking that he was originally from the real world. Now, I suspect that Jax would do this as he went through an event similar to Gummigo, where he was exposed to his reality being a fake one. After this revalation, Jax was able to sneak through the portal that Caine summons, and lie his way to being apart of the circus in order to find a way out of the digital world and into the real one. This would explain why Jax is more rude and merciless to the other members, as he wants to be the only one left to influence Caine to eventually make an exit. If you use this theory for a video, all I ask is that you shout out Demuncle Uncle.
This is a very surprising theory but for me it's not valid. Jax is known as being stubborn so we would need evidence linking to this and not what he did.
I think the “backrooms” is more like a blender screen tbh and if Caine is the programmer then it could also contain unfinished projects that we’ll see in future episodes
i think gummygoo doesn't actually have a mom, but Caine put memory of her in his ai that's why his mom isn't in the room under the map its because Caine did not make a model for her
I was thinking with the "who knows what could happen" He was referring to the fact he wouldn't be able to tell them apart, and could delete a human without realizing it is one. Which is why he described them as, telling them apart.(or) "If I start losing track of who's a human and who's an NPC" I know people are fascinated with Caine being a mastermind, but I really like to think he's an oblivious being that has god-like powers.
the backrooms is actually a reference to how a video game would work, developers put models usually too much down or too much up, rigged and everything, with complete AI but AI turned off, then they tell the engine to spawn which one with AI turned on onto what location

It’s not a backrooms but it’s where the base plates are basically it’s where the models are stored to be used, there are things like these in games to be used and to copy.

lol the detail with the mahicans was just something one of the animators snuck in as a funny little background piece.
Cain did not mention a new map, nor anything else new, except the A.I. - So Caine could have easily recycled the world and objects from a previous adventure, or even the same adventure, and replaced the old A.I. with the new one. It is quite possible that Zooble has done this exact quest in the past. It is my headcanon at time of posting this (my headcanon is subject to change over time as new information or understanding is obtained) that Zooble joined in adventures when she first entered the circus, but eventually stopped so they could work on setting up abstraction funerals while Caine was distracted with everyone else going on his quests. If I recall, Zooble was forced into Ep1's quest due to being collected by the Gloinks, so she was not able to set it up that day. As for not needing sleep, it likely means they don't need sleep in the same way we do in the real world, they don't suffer from exaustion due to lack of physical rest - but they probably still need some form of mental rest in order to properly proccess information.

I think the twist is that the main characters are going to be AIs too. There's a backroom under the circus. Also, as someone who does 3d art, those "circular mirors" are probably meant to be the HDRIs. They essentially help light the scenes and give reflections to objects. Think, like, a video game skybox.

i had a fun idea for a gangle focused episode so it would start by jax making fun of gangle beacause she likes anime and caine makes the next adventure anime based to cheer gangle up and gangle is so mesmorised she gets kidnapped so others try to save her BUT SHE DOESNT WANT TO beacuse she would rather be in a place full of her fav characters and crushes rather than be in a place where she is always bullied so jax must apologyse to her or else they wont be able to get out of the adventure personally i would love to see this

When I was watching episode 2 I noticed at the part were they were going to attend Cosmo’s funeral (sorry can’t spell his name) Jax was actually sad for a split second in the episode…and I think he didn’t attend because he was crying in his room
it must be likely that the room is a shader compilation room because you can see spheres with different shaders
Remember the scene of a blue mannequin screaming in the season trailer? That didn’t appear in the episode.
Linger remembers because he was the first one there who isn’t abstracted
so the new character we tried to find was gummygoo with his hollow eyes. but then, if you remember the singing voice from the amazing digital circus intro episode 1? maybe it could be the character.
The Backrooms are ery simple things. 90s to 2010 games used to run on simple engines, some of which just heavily modified quake engines back then. some of these engines required entities (interactable props for the map worldspace) to be put in a place outside the worldspace. i don't know the name of it but i just call them "loadspace". in these completely unlit rooms with all entities would be spawned there in a sort-of dormant state and appeared to be some sort of reference for the engine. best example i can think of is Doom 3. if you noclipped out of bounds you could always see a dark (because no light was produced within its confines) room and if un enabled clipping again, you would suddenly gain all weapons that were in the map or were intended to be in the map at some point, ammo, pick-ups and in some engine's case even the enemies. so-to-say: gummigoo saw his own template without its AI activated.

4:00 the animator that worked on that part of the animations said they made that as a funny little gag to put in the background, no real reason for it (they post short on here, I forgot their @ though)
If you look closely at the end of the episode where there's a scene of Pomni falling into the void and suddenly there are three hands hold her hand preventing her from falling. And those hands are belongs to Zooble, Ragatha and Gangle (Couldn't see Jax's and Kinger's hand) for some reason..
It wasn't just Gumigoo that shattered, my heart did as well 😭 Why was Caine so cruel.. oml

My guess caine is trying to protect the player like pomni and other from the npc ai cause they could potentially turn into abstract or even worse a virus
ep 2 didnt give us that mutch information about it being a 90s video game other than the fact that pomni and gummigoo were in the room where caine creates his npcs and other stuff. i thougth it might tell us more about the void or pomni getting near the end of the void to somehow get out of the computer that she saw when going through the exit doors. also ragatha and kinda acted like an npc because when ragatha was in front of pomnis door she acted kinda wierd and aslo when they were in the chocolate lake ragatha said "oh man, poor Pomni" if you listen to her saying that it kinda sounds npc-like but maybe im just overthinking it btw the stream with you and circus theory was awesome i wached the entire thing. I think the candy canyon kingdom is a video game and when gummigoo and pomni got stuck in the what you say backrooms it glitched and they glitched out of the map and out of the map,they always have all the npcs lined up like that.Btw i mean that the what you said backrooms are just out of the map.

Well I think one of two things could happen. 1. Obvious one, they might just explode like they did before. 2. Possibly, if no one's inside a body that's IN the circus, they might be able to inhabit their body and live THEIR life.
