Michael Pento: The Middle Class Is Getting Destroyed, While Assets Are 40% Overvalued

WORRIED ABOUT THE MARKET? SCHEDULE YOUR FREE PORTFOLIO REVIEW with Thoughtful Money's endorsed financial advisors at www.thoughtfulmoney.com
With the market now expecting less than 2 rate cuts this year -- perhaps none at all until next year according to Bank of America -- what does that mean for the economy?
Can it handle "higher for even longer" interest rates without slowing markedly?
Or, even worse, something systemic breaking?
And what impact will these higher rates likely have on stock, bonds and other asset prices?
To find out, we're fortunate today to talk with money manager Michael Pento. president of Pento Portfolio Strategies.
Michael is "not happy". He's very concerned that the crown jewel of our capitalist society, the middle class, is getting "destroyed". He sees nothing good coming from that.
And looking ahead, he sees a disinflationary recession happening in the second half of 2024, to be followed in early to mid-2025 by an era of stagflation more extreme than we've ever experienced.

    • Everyone claims the FED only controls the short end yet during covid the FED bought corporate bonds. Why would they print and buy long end. Yellen is already not selling much on the long end because they don't have the buyers for that junk. You'd have to be insane to buy the long end in these times except for a trade, good luck with that. BTW IMHO on all written here.

  • I 100% share Pento's anger rant at the beginning. We should all be angry over the malign damage the Fed has done to the middle class with its actions - hubris mixed with short term stupidity. There was a widely used saying in Russia prior to the '17 revolution about the Tsar's disastrous running of the war (WWI) - "Is it stupidity or is it treason?" That sure pops in my head every time I hear of the Fed.

Aka solitary confinement) I'm so glad we've entrusted the survival of humanity to a handful of people based on what they took that day 💊, or whether they got a certain tax break or comp package (Capitalism winning is good? right?) Makes me feel like millions of voices were unheard, left twisting in the wind. unique to every platform, of course. But just curious, there's some kinda safeguards to ensure this isn't, say, wildly manipulated by those with sympathies to foreign actors.... ...... riiight..ch..uble ?! !? ?! @EMan-cu5zo

      @ecosignals@ecosignals19 күн бұрын
    • I believe it is treason. It appears as stupidity/foolishness, but if you look back over many decades, if we look deeper and not just believing the narrative we are fed from federal government and the mainstream media, we may see the corruption of many impactful decisions that have been made to get to this point, and revealing a conspiracy, not theory, but a conspiring of governments to make its citizens weak, stupid, broken, and helpless, so that it sets us up for their agenda of the 'great reset'' or to get its citizens as servants of the government (or corporate elites?) (instead of government whose stated goal is to serve the people and to maintain justice), watching and controlling your decisions and purchases and limiting your access to goods and services, essentially controlling our lives (i.e., creating smart cities, limiting of access to healthy natural meat and inventing lab-grown meat, poisoning our food and water in various ways that are cancerous...). This and the continuing actions of government leaders, ultimately sets the stage for a one-world leader to create and control a one-world religion, a one world currency system, and the final world government as a ten-nation confederacy as revealed in Scripture, i.e., the Book of Daniel, the Book of Revelation. Regardless of what our overreaching, corrupt government does, we have a choice to do what is right in God's sight in every area of life.

Have you not noticed how people will not speak up, and how they are restrained not to intervene, to act, or are afraid to speak or act. For example, workers in stores are instructed not to stop shoplifting, and as soon as a power failure happens groups are looting??? in many places, not all...... I notice people with a nonchalant way not approaching issues that need to be a public outcry and the people in the communities just walk by. It is very prevalent....to not speak up about correcting the obvious......WHY, fear, stupid, too busy working, too busy playing, diverted attention, ????? you call it. Too much strain trying to exist, What is it, I see, but can't define, or do you have a definition....

Tens of millions living below the poverty line...Thousands upon thousands living in tents and in their cars....Infrastructure crumbling... Whole neighborhoods abandoned... Crime out of control..... and Russia/China breathing down their neck... ... Fancy that how could this have possibly happened. But... The bigger question is WHY has this Happened.. Thesis: Present the status quo, the viewpoint that is currently accepted and widely held. Antithesis: Articulate the problems with the thesis. (Hegel also called this phase “the negative.”) Synthesis: Share a new viewpoint (a modified thesis) that resolves the problems. When THEY have achieved total lawlessness and the coming depression ... They will not have to take total control.... The so called "citizens" will hand it to them on a plate... It's close now

The more property that was purchased inflated property values resulting in ballooning housing costs . Property investors are more secure with tangible and more liquid investments than the gamble of the markets . Home values were driven up (buy) the property investors .. that’s what I see happening . • I am a spaniard who lives in Ecuador, everywhere in the western world happens the same as in USA, Iam very impressed by this interview , not because what it is said (Mr Pento and Mr taggart are both really brilliant ) but for the feeling of true sadness you convey. I feel the same pain you good americans feel for the demise of our once great countries. If this serves you, Think about it in this way. You americans most recently, like us spaniards did in the XVI and XVII th century, "conquered" the world and achieved "human glory", but did very bad things to lesser peoples. We used our power not to pull up our weaker human fellows in other nations but to forge an empire that opressed them AND IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO HOLD TO THAT EMPIRE FOUGHT EVERYONE AND RUINED OURSELVES The dark times that are coming is God´s chance for all of us to repent and pay for our sins becoming humble and abandoning our selfish individualism and insouciance. As your great ancestor Thomas paine once said " IF THERE HAS TO BE TROUBLE LET IT BE IN MY TIME SO THAT MY CHILDREN MAY LIVE IN PEACE "......the best of America has never been modern industrial monopolistic capitalism (this is our curse that is destroying us all modern westeners)...... but the revolution against the british king, the constitution, the bill of rights , democracy undestood as government by the people and for the people.......the religious and enterpreneurial spirit of the pilgrims, settlers and inmigrants (that gave birth to this meritocracy that you talked about) and your openness to receive people from all over the world. ¡¡ RISE UP YOU DESCENDANTS OF CROMWELL, OF THE PURITANS, OF THE ENLIGHTMENT......SONS OF FRANKLIN, WASHINGTON, JEFFERSON, JACKSON AND LINCON.....CONTEMPORARIES OF KENNEDY , DR KING AND MANY OTHERS !! ¡¡ RISE UP , REMEMBER THAT "THE TREE OF LIBERTY MUST BE REFRESHED FROM TIME TO TIME WITH THE BLOOD OF PATRIOTS AND TYRANTS" ¡¡

    • I think US foreign policy has always been about helping the US financially, well US corporations part of the military-industrial complex to be more specific. Eisenhower warned that the United States must “guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence…by the military-industrial complex,” which included members of Congress from districts dependent on military industries, the Department of Defense (along with the military services), and privately owned military contractors-e.g., Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman. Eisenhower believed that the military-industrial complex tended to promote policies that might not be in the country’s best interest (such as participation in the nuclear arms race), and he feared that its growing influence, if left unchecked, could undermine American democracy. How right he was. How many US citizens got to vote on going to war since WW2? The merits of going to war aren't fully examined. The costs are brutal and still being dealt with from Vietnam, onwards. Let's not forget it was the colossal cost of that war which led Nixon to abandon the gold standard AND inflate away the debt. The inevitability of this pattern is what is killing the middle class and the 2% inflation rate, cumulatively has done the rest. In many ways the US simply has a more sophisticated form of corruption, the same problem that China has which is causing it to implode at a more rapid rate than the US. Somehow out of this mess, some clarity will emerge. One possibility is debt forgiveness and a clean slate. This seems to be where we are heading but I'm not sure it's going to be much better than an organised crime fix.

Thank God you are a resource for those of us that need education in the financial space! Keep up the good work! I am a dedicated viewer of your content! BRAVO TO YOU AND YOUR GUESTS! I fear the future too as the middle class is being gutted as your guest so eloquently focused on! We NEED to do better! This program is one step towards that end!

  • I think your program is fanastic Adam and you are the best at what you do. I love the way you pause and sum things up, expecially when the guest espouses something that might need some explanation or clarification to your audience. I also think Pento is one of your best guests although I didn't agree with him on the political part, but that really isn't the focus of your program. Pento is articulate, explains the micro and the macro, and I find him relatively easy for the nonprofessional to follow. Keep up the good work.

    • @user-jl8yy5ir7s Absolutely, it has helped me to stay informed. Although when I was managing inside, I still made time to stay informed. Most people won't listen to this anyway. They would categorize these interviews as boring. These are some of the most important videos to be watching/listening to these day's.

  • Very much appreciate your channel (found it mentioned on a homesteading channel) and it has been helpful and an eye opener. I have shared various videos with friends who are of like mind and understand what is taking place with the spiritual side of life, what is happening (in Holy Scripture, we are told of the signs to look for), but also the practical side of living in this modern republic. I appreciate your mission! The direction of and pulling information from economic professionals that are sharing their true economic insights, and that you are keeping the average American in mind, to try to help the common person to be educated, prepared, and encouragement to be in a better place to provide for themselves and their families! Very much appreciate Michael Pento and his forthrightness, not watering down what is happening economically and politically, and that he is open without hesitation to give thanks to God! I understand in this world that unfortunately we have to rely on a system that is not equitable and finances are important to help provide for our families' needs. Yes, investing in people is much more important than investing in finances!!

  • When Michael Pento talks, people listen. I listened several years ago and got out of the market just at the very time he said things were quickly about to turn very sour on the Dow/Nasdaq and lead to a big downturn. And so it did indeed soon happen. And later, just as things turned back around, I jumped back into the game. It’s the one and only time I timed the markets just right. It’ll never happen again I bet.

  • Always love Michael's commentary on the true state of things in the markets and economy, good interview One thing I would ask though is everyone says we need a recession/depression and we will "bounce back" What makes everyone so sure after this coming depression that America will actually bounce back to a more vibrant, competitive economy? What makes all these experts so sure that it's just going to happen? Who's to say this isn't the last straw for America's leading economic dominance?
