Welcome to the Scrapyard. Space Engineers where what you can't build, you must find.
Curious about the audio? We've been utilising Remaarn's Teamspeak plugin for Space Engineers to communicate with each other while getting positional audio without the glitching that is common with the inbuilt system :)
You can find it here github.com/mmusu3/SE-TS-Bridge
For the mod list head over here: steamcommunity.com/sharedfile...
You can find the videos on the making and testing of this set of mods over on / flipsie
For those of you kind enough to want to support me in making more videos: / splitsie

  • Just for the warehouse name - quite simple, use the cross piece you have to add another line above for just two letters - MR SCRAPSIE For the offset warehouse - if you use a large grid crane connected to the aligned grid, and attach to the new one with a rotor, you can adjust you angle to a perfect 45', you can also use a hinge setup to link the grids together to share power, if that'll be any use.

  • I'm all in for the large grid crane, specially in the center of the settlement so it reaches everything you could possibly want to rearrange in the future, but for this particular task positioning the second warehouse you could use a hinge instead, attatched horizontally to the 45° angle reference scaffolding to both line the grid up with the angled side and to serve as connection for both power and conveyor access (if ever needed). You could even cover the hinge with angled plating and make it look like a catwalk of some sort for aesthetic purposes

  • You could potentially use some combination of henges, pistons, and/or rotors with a pair of connectors (probably under the foundations) to put the new warehouse on the same grid as your main one but still at the 45% angle so you don't need independent power.

    • Came here to make that suggestion too! A pair of connectors either under foundations of the new warehouse or even between the 2 buildings in a cute little shed (like a pool pump shed) to hide them. Theoretically you could potentially even get away with just a single hinge to join the 2 grids.

  • i think it would be interesting if you were to utilize the "wheeled" warehouse as an actual mobile base. Add some solar panels or even a couple of wind turbines to keep it powered. You could add a piston controlled ramp to lift vehicles into it. this would allow you to collect an enormous amount of scrap and store it all.

  • @Splitsie was just thinking... you already have a viable machine to help clear out voxels which may be worth making a second version, your lifter... what if you turn the cockpit around facing the other way.... removed the mag section, and fit on extra pistons to go above the existing ones, and added a couple of drills side by side.... this way you could clear what you need, how deep you need to and at the angle you want.... while using an already tried and tested chassis... could have some counterbalance in form of smallgrid large batteries on the rear to help with drill weight.... and if needed have the cockpit and arm on a hinge so when drilling, small outriggers clamp you down and you can rotate with ease then but when you need to move, it locks the rotor and pistons safely 🙂

  • 52:04 why not use a hinge? Place a hinge at 90 degrees, merge the new warehouse onto that so it's still mobile. Place your 45 degree faux wall and then move the hinge to align the new grid to the 45degree. Lock the new grid to the ground w/ mag plate and convert to static. For a bonus, you could possibly put the hinge under ground and backfill (let voxel cleanup fill it in). Then all your grids will share power. (I thought about doing something similar w/ a subterranean connector + event controller so I could build a charging pad for visitors that could automatically disconnect if power on my main base was getting low.)

  • 47:00 two approaches i imagine could be viable and the second one i think the way to go 1) from the base/ground level up, replace with half blocks and half ramps, flat side outwards so you can connect letters to them on the outside, may only result in a limited name or just an acronym to be placed 2) have (small(?)grid) magnet plates attach to each other. On one side you put the letters where they attach normaly to the magnets, the other side you attach through the magnets to the building via your forklift, might end up being not quite level but that gives it characters =)

  • For your large grid crane, it might be a good idea to either try to build it static in a place you can keep it around for other uses, or build it on large-grid 1x1 wheels on a somewhat wide platform that can move itself around the base. That way you don't have to just set something up temporarily and have to tear it all down. Sign Ideas: Scrapsie's Split, Scrapsie's Splityard, 2 Fast 2 Warehouse, Flipsie's Scrapyard (but flip all the letters upside down) Also, could you attach the sign using two small-grid mag plates that are back to back? Pretty sure you're gonna attach it with one for power anyway (like in survival impossible) might as well set it up with correct block spacing from the start. It'll also give you the right height straight off the bat.

Hopefully together with flying carpet race done with grabby hands ;) For the sign, how about a Splat-Yard? ;) Or you could think of something australian... like Lamington? Lamington Automotive Ltd. ;) Or a reference to previous series... Spicey's Hopefully you could visit us soon. We have a special, personalised decoration that would fit nicely along that signage. As to new hangar, does it need to be same grid? Potentially you could build extended "arm" in a trench, so it ends up underground after reset, and then use connectors to share power. That would let you have a wide range of angles to try while still having it as part of same construct.

  • For @Splitsie 's warehouse sign, he should consider setting up a timer or two on his spotlight on the lettering so as to make it seem like a short circuit - kinda like a dying neon sign. Nothing major, maybe once a minute or three for a couple seconds either off or dimmed for the extra ambiance and detail. Or perhaps the letters individually if possible. Sometimes it's the little things. :)

    @FritiFirecaster@FritiFirecaster24 күн бұрын
    • I was trying to think of a way to do that with the actual neons but unfortunately I'd need a way to depower a whole grid which once done wouldn't be able to turn back on again. It'd need a lot of spotlights to make it work (1 per letter) and I'm tempted, but not sure I'll go to that length :D

  • I'm wondering if this would work for 2nd warehouse placement. Grind out like a 5x5 or 7x7 section in the center. Build up an interior room to where you can attach inside it a piston & rotor with wheels at the bottom. Use this to roll the building where you want it, rotate to the angle you want, then lower it in place. Convert to static and return the floor to flat. A rotating sign with something like SPLITSIE'S on one side and SCRAPSIES on the other? Maybe use corner lights at the bottom to self-light (similar to roadside billboards here in the US). It was great watching the competition. Looking forward to the next event.

  • Don’t worry about us splits.. we listen to inventory full for 30 minutes a week.. you listen to it for 8 hours a day.. I’m sure you’re a lot more perceptive of it than we are 😀

  • Maybe Attach the sign a bit out and modify it a bit so it looks like a crane. As for the building maybe attach it on a hinge at 45° and then you can also have them connected with connectors for power transfer if needed, if nothing else moving it into place using a hinge seems like an easy way to get it there 😊

  • Call it Splits And Bits, use some LCDs to make it flash and light up and what not. you can even have an LCD projecter for sales or specials like LARGE CARGO! that disappears and stuff.
