  • once i got the BGM Hollow regrind on mine it massively improved the performance, now i enjoy cutting with it. it was entirely to thick for me to use it as a daily cutter before

    • Hell yeah if I owned this I’d definitely get a regrind too. 34 thousandths bte is…significant. Haha

  • Wow, thanks for sharing this. When I saw this on your live, I had a flashback to the predecessor of Spartan's Harsey folder and it was the Lone Wolf Knives T3 (aka Ranger). I don't know if Spartan acquired the design after Lone Wolf went out of business, but I always loved that knife design. Not sure how I feel about Titanium handles, because the predecessor had I think G10 over liners (it was a liner lock), and that is usually what I prefer. Thanks for sharing, probably will be as far as I get to owning one, new Harsey's are definitely beyond what I can spend at one time on a knife (and still be married).

  • I just sent mine to bgm for a regrind and sharpening choil at the beginning of last week. Hopefully that will make this knife amazing!

  • The edge termination and no sharpening choil is quite a surprise on a piece this expensive. Still love mine anyway

  • I love my spartan shield edition in s35. Perfect fit for my big hands and good in opening boxes with new knifes.

  • This knife reminds me of Old School Buck 110 and others that had thicker blades. Today thinner blades work better with the improved steels 🤷‍♂️🤘🤩 use them

  • I just recently sold my Black PVD version. Loved the knife, but it definitely isn’t a slicer from the jump. This actually did better than I thought it would. I got used to the no choil look pretty quickly, but didn’t really end up using it so I never had to sharpen it. Hadn’t thought of the difficulty with that!😂

  • Just don’t like how the blade ends at the plunge. But it would be good to add a coil?

  • I have really been enjoying mine. Mine is in Magnacut and came super sharp. It is a big knife but there is just something about it that makes still want to carry it. My Mcnees comes tomorrow so we will see if it knocks the Harsey out of my pocket. Thanks for doing the cut test.

    @deanP.@deanP.15 күн бұрын
    • That’ll be an interesting comparison. I think the McNees is a little more carryable

  • Their laser ano work on titanium is probably the best in the game. I’ve come close to buying a few of both the large and small versions but can’t get over the thickness of the blade and edge as well as the edge termination into the ricasso. I have heard they do an excellent job with their heat treat specs and are great to sharpen in that regard, which is another positive.

    @poncho151@poncho15115 күн бұрын
    • Agreed. Definitely lots of positives but it’s just not for me

  • I feel like the gap between the plunge and the sharpened edge is so you don’t need a sharpening choil. Kinda like how spyderco does it but much bigger on this one. My biggest issue when sharpening is when the sharpened edge is too close to the plunge because you start getting a smile when removing steel. Aesthetically it looks a little weird but probably it gives you a lot of room to sharpen that blade and drop the angle way down without having to worry about a smile. It’s almost like a choil-less sharpening choil if you think about it lol.

    @jlanz183@jlanz18315 күн бұрын
    • Yeah I suppose so. But Spyderco makes edge go all the way to the choil

  • Yeah I will say it’s not a super precision slicer it is definitely a hard user. If you are buying this thing to carve out little shapes in paper then you might need to rethink your decision haha. I watched the Choirboyz Outdoors test on it a while back and it made me respect the hell out of the knife. He also said Spartan does one of the best jobs in the business with PVD coating which is also something worth noting. If you like black blades but hate when the coating comes off, the Spartan knives are worth looking into

    @danpennella@danpennella15 күн бұрын
    • The coating actually does look a little different than other pvd coatings. And yeah I bet this thing is tough as fuck, that is definitely cool

    • @@doodysdaggers I have yet to get one in hand but I like their style. I’m with you though it might be a little big for my normal edc but I would keep it around cutting off car doors or slicing bricks in half and the such… you never know

  • I hear ya talk about chris Reeves knives a lot but i just don't see it,both Sebenzas i purchased were dull out the box and do not cut well,i put a good edge on even though it took forever,i just don't know why people dog em,i wouldn't buy another,but thats just me,i see that knife maybe being worth 100 bicks but not 500 plus,id rather slap a Benjamin and buy a buck,at least a buck will cut.

  • Lately Ive been eyeing a 4" Spartan Harsey... but somehow this video has sortof made me want it a bit less... Just the fact that its one of the hard use USA made knives made it seem more exotic... Its either a Sebenza or a Harsey for me...
