This is great old footage of the beautiful Styx Pride enjoying being lions and having fun building on survival skills and bonding. The elephants are an extra treat, especially the babies, they are the cutest. Thanks MalaMala!
Visually stunning & picturesque scenery along the Sand River special viewing with the Styx pride all lined up perfectly on the bank, the cubs are a delight to watch they are healthy & full of energy & their play helps strengthen social bonds. A good drink intake provides an immediate cool-down to the barrel-bodied elephants who need a lot of water, a large family with super adorable calves. This was really nice! I don't remember seeing so much play among a lion pride as I did in this presentation of the Styx pride. Many cubs, therefore, a big pride. Elephants are beautiful - - - - as usual.

That was amazing. My heart. Amazing, too when we realize that they are practicing those skills that make them among the fiercest hunters in the natural world. I needed this joyous lion scene after watching the documentary on the "Rise and Fall of the Marsh Pride" in the Masai Mara, including how the whole pride was poisoned during the filming of the BBC show Legacies. Seeing the long view of a pride's life is amazing, but also very poignant. The Styx Pride is doing wonderfully, and I hope they maintain that.

Its so wonderful to see the Styx doing well. I first saw them on Djuma (Safari Live) in 2016 or so when they lost all 8 young cubs to mange. it was heartbreaking and my heart is lifted seeing them now.

how old is this video? i know that only two lionesses and eight cubs of the pride have been seen recently (while in this video at 2:50 there are clearly three adult lionesses)

This is from a while ago. The old lioness seen here and 3 of the male cubs are no longer a live. They were lost in september.

@@nammoo89 It was said that the Gijimas killed a couple of the males.... The other one, not sure. Maybe he was lost or injured after the Kambula conflict with the pride. Now only 2 males alive, including Floppy Ear--a very distinctive-looking male, the older one.

@@zone_Magazine_reporter Yes, prematurely abandonned by the N'was. The youngest litter was barely a year old...or not quite when their fathers started to leave regularly to mate with the Kambulas
I have a question. Do you happen to know how many adult females are there? Also was there was there the old Styxt female lioness alive here did she have Cubs at the end? The Rollercoster daughter? I remember when they’re were only 3 Styxt pride members. There was the Birmingham’s son and the his sisters one or two and the old Rollercoster female.

when they play, one plays the prey and the other plays the hunter.
The oldest lioness and 3 male cubs--probably casualties/fatalities of the Gijima males and Kambula lionesses, not surprising and to be expected from both parties mentioned. The Gijimas have been surprisingly "tame" toward the 2 Selati/Southern pride daughters; would be nice if they kept that up. The Styx pride have been left with cubs and abandoned by three famous coalitions now, going back 12 years or so in time. Nothing new going on. It seems that when lionesses with cubs below a certain age don't mate, the dominant males will look elsewhere for entertainment, maybe or maybe not completely abandoning the pride they left behind.
Looks like 2 male cubs 6 female cubs and 2 adult females is that correct ?

Styx pride was controled by mapogos between 2008 _2010
