The war in Ukraine has driven interest in E-bikes as they tick many battlefield boxes for tactical advantage, from being a valuable asset for reconnaissance missions to getting from A to B by stealth and speed.

You missed the "silent & electric" part.
You seem to miss the difference between a pedal bike and an electric bike
russians used them to charge heavily defended ukr lines, not for recon. other than that though, there is of course a pro-ukrainian bias in the media. which is good and as it should be :).
Why do you need it to be silent? They can still be detected by heat sensor. This is just hype like all things from West need to be exaggerated and hype for no reason.

These are not E-bikes but E-motorcycles. An E-bike is a bicycle that gives electric support if you rotate the pedals. The silent part - which in civilian vehicle is a safety issue causing more accidents - is interesting in a military role, however you do need electric infrastructure to recharge and wait a long time for them to recharge. However the silent part is only a thing in regards to dismounts, the crew of an armored vehicle is unlikely to hear a normal motorcycle unless they are above armor with their own engine off.
i own one of these bikes and let me say u THIS is not a motorcycle... its way to light and small for an motorcycle... i agree thats not a bike but its still no motorcycle... maybe something between ?!
topic recharging .... you can exchange the akku in like 20 secs .... and you can charge it via normal charge .... this can also done by an diesel generator so you dont need infrastructure to recharge :) and enough fuel they have
That must be why soldiers run around singing and howling in a battlefield eh? 🧐😂 Whatever my dood.
@@yannikschirdewan moped
Still useful, you can charge them up if you have access to a vehicle that uses fuel so it's basically charge everywhere when you have a lull in combat

Being a Livestock Farmer, I have used Quad Bikes practically all of my life, and with their long standing use through out the British Army, I feel that this innovative use of ultra quiet electric propulsion could be applied to military Quad Bikes, thus providing a stealthy ATV that can literally go anywhere whilst being able to carry light stores ie, Small Calibre Ammunition boxes, Food, Water and Spare batteries for Radios and other infantry carried electronics for example. This expanded capability could be extended to Airborne Forces, providing the technique for air dropping by parachute could be refined, in order to allow for the soft low impact landing of electric powered Quad Bikes. Hey, It’s just a thought?

*We built these in Iraq. While we used gas engines we put large mufflers on them. We also had a rack of 12G shot gun tubes on the X-bar with 22 x 12" barrels. We used 3.5" magnum rounds filled with #2 Tungsten carbide shot which is as heavy as Gold and had deadly penetration and good range. The best part is we got real good at aiming while riding, no need to stop and aim your gun which is when 90% of our guys got shot. We used electric solenoids for the firing pins and with simple Adrino chip it would shot 2 rounds a second in order when the trigger was held. The "SHOT-RAIL" as we called it saved lives and made us lethal and fast!*

@@liamjohnson2474 Not a bad idea. My partner has an ebike. I bought it for her. 3000€. Really the article should specify ’emtb’. That’s the jargon. Intersport, 10km away, rang to say I could come and pick it up. Like an idiot I took my bike rack down to collent it. For a start the geometry was all wrong. On modern battlefield drones with thermal imaging see every movement of the enemy.
Something you would do well to mitigate by using vehicles that produce less heat. Are you even aware that there is doctrine for camouflage against thermals? They see heat its not the eye of god.

such a great idea I imagine other forces use them for recon and with airborne troops and such but that bike isn't specially adapted to carry that weapon it just has a standard add on a universal rack and post anyone can buy from the company to carry it on i mean if they needed to carry an large anti tank missile launcher or extra missiles or grocery bags

Game changer #87 😂 Look i own both petrol and electric bike, i love both of them but the petrol is the more reliable one. Electric is nice but the range will get you stranded somewhere if you miscalculate. They are tested at 45kph with 75kg driver on flat roads. For a long time (40 years) I have wondered why Weasels, trail bikes and now ebikes haven't been used as a highly mobile force at Bn level or Regt/Brigade/TF level. I'm thinking a specialist platoon at Battalion level TOE, mechanised infantry or armoured.

Bicycles and motorbikes are been in use for a long time, they have pros (a lot) and cons (a few) now electric motors make possible to merge the best qualities of both; as long as you can swap batteries from a charging station instead of connecting the entire bike to a generator.

It's a very cool bike though, slightly more expensive then the chinese ones, but made in Europe and that's awesome!
Not really The Swiss have until recently maintained entire units of bicycle infantry and they were spectacular. They had big old fashioned heavily geared cycles so they could move around independently and they were spectacular. No clue why they sacked the whole concept. These e-bike recon units are great and all, but they have one giant flaw, which dates back to bicycle recon units of WWI and WWII They mostly die. Its a James Bond concept that favours intel over survivability. By all means use ebikes to deliver munitions quickly over rough terrain to precise locations, but if you think ebikes are a solution to recon then consider this one fateful equation: "We think the enemy is over there, please ride your silent bike towards the bad things and tell us what is happening. Dont worry, they wont hear you. You will probably be a mile behind enemy lines before you AND THE ENEMY realise you are there". Recon in light soft skinned vehicles or in scout groups is dangerous enough. Yoloing towards the enemy on an ebike is a new level of "there are no experienced guys in this unit... go figure"
exactly, they are suicide soldiers.
what about e-tanks that shoot death ray laser?
Hillarious.
