Our VRF Grab Bags (GB) videos are compiled from content from our cameras as Mods and fans spot something neat while watching our cameras. In the GB you will, of course, find a variety of TRAIN content, special trains, maintenance, steam, diesels, interesting rail cars, cool paint schemes and more. You will also find fun people, city events, boats, planes, cars (sometimes going wild) and nature. Thank you for taking the time to sit back and enjoy these highlight reels that we call "Grab Bags"!

  • The auroras were obscured by clouds for three straight nights where I live, so it was cool to see them here.

  • So there are two IIII engines on USA rails. The barge-combination seen at 18:00 is the same that struck the Fort Madison bridge, seen in the previous Grab Bag. Strange to see VRF go back in time...

  • We have Santa Fe FP-45 number 92 at IRM. It was finally restored to operational condition in 2018 with a rebuilt prime mover, new trucks and electrical gear. Would be neat to see 93 restored and maybe have the two together for a run.

    • From what I've been told something about 93's prime mover is severely bent. It's not likely to be repaired to running as is and they're striving for a complete cosmetic restoration.

  • 0:08 CSX 1853 trailing 0:20 MRL 4313 as DPU 0:29 NS 1074 leading, its paint has been redone recently. NS 6800, a GP34ECO, and IBCX 88, an SW7 originally built for New York Central, are trailing 1:01 NS 1072 leading, it looks quite dirty 1:42 Western Pacifc boxcar 1:54 NS 1069 leading 2:33 BNSF wind turbine train crossing the Burlington bridge 3:39 airplane fuselages leaving Wichita 4:18 NS MOW train with some gondolas and specialized boxcars 5:03 BNSF MOW train led by a warbonnet 6:03 BNSF 3980 and 1111 6:55 fire truck bucket reaching a tower. I got to ride in something similar when the local fire academy had an open house for the kids when I was younger. You could even ride around the block in a fire engine (again at 14:16) 7:40 Soo line hopper 7:49 four locos on a concrete tie train 8:55 this tall gondola is no longer owned by The Bay Line and had its name painted out 9:37 a wave from a welded rail train 10:00 ATSF 93 is going to Mid America Car Inc in Kansas City for a repaint. This 1967 F45 was built to pull both passengers and freight, and was later repainted into the yellowbonnet paint scheme after Amtrak had their own locomotives. It was one of the Super Fleet locomotives and regained its warbonnet paint along with new GE dash 8s and EMD GP60Ms in 1989. 93 has been in Wichita since 1998. 12:22 really faded Rock Island hopper 12:35 CSX 911 leading 13:16 the SW7 again 14:46 BNSF H2, KCS southern belle, CP red, two BNSF H3 units, and a US Army red geep. Ever since I was a kid, I thought it was odd the Army painted their locomotives red instead of green like their tanks. 15:28 NS high hood geep 15:37 CSX 1973 and a single business car 16:14 KCSM gray as DPU 16:30 an assortment of older freight cars 17:09 wow, and old N&W boxcar! This one is red instead of black like the other N&W boxcars that are still in use 18:06 barges pass under the Burlington bridge. It was during a move like this that scrambled the barges at Ft Madison 19:46 CSX 1976 leading. All the units behind it are yN3 and the first few containers are Amazon ones 20:04 NS 8105 leading 20:12 empty nuclear waste car 20:36 Aurora Borealis? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country- localized entirely within your webcam feed?!
