Nah I think they just did it justice. The original was "get OVER here" and it was perfect and iconic. This new one didn't try to perfectly imitate the original it just paid homage and did its own thing with "get over HEARE". Its a stupid small detail but I love it

@Jr. Bushman222 It was lame to me, like he got armor to absorb damage cuz he trash? didnt like the look of it either and the weapons just seemed like a random addition. I thought at first the armor was absorbing dmg to boost his power and send it back at the enemy but i dont think that was clearly conveyed to be happening if it was happening at all. Which would of made it better than just absorbing dmg cuz hes trash.

I remember playing MK when I was 7 years old at local arcades. It’s still my favorite fighting game. The feeling I had when playing these games, when I was 7, was brought back to life thanks to these guys. Thank you.

In the movie when the guy disses cole saying he’s a human punching bag and all he does is attack and never defend it felt like a slight diss towards all the regular players who played mortal kombat basically just spamming attack buttons and combinations and never defending

I love that they really spent on the actors for Sub Zero and Scorpion
They had no choice too. Sub Zero, and Scorpion are the most iconic, and the characters that are going to be scrutinized the hardest so they are the character most of all they could not mess up and needed to splurge on to make sure they are portrayed the best.

At the beginning the 1st Sub-Zero, Bi Han from the Lin Kuai clan, was selected by Quan Chi to recover an amulet from the Shirai Ryu clan. Sub-Zero runs into the then "human" form of Scorpion (Hanzo Hasashi) a member of the Shirai Ryu and Sub-Zero kills him. Eventually Quan Chi goes to the actual village of the Shirai Ryu and he kills all of the people in the clan. Then he revives Hanzo Hasashi and gives him the power of immortality and of fire 🔥. And now goes by the name of Scorpion. Quan Chi also uses his magic to show a fake image of Sub-Zero doing the killing of his family and clan and makes Scorpion think that Sub-Zero did it. Eventually Scorpion tracks Sub-Zero down and kills the 1st Sub-Zero (Bi Han). Eventually Bi Hans younger brother (Kuai Lian) finds out and becomes the 2nd Sub-Zero. In the games themselves MK1 Sub-Zero is Bi Han, but from MK2 and on Sub-Zero is Kuai Kian the younger brother. The character of the 1st Sub-Zero was neither good nor bad, he simply followed instructions of whom he worked for. And it happened the the two clans were actually rivals. The 2nd Sub-Zero actually is on the side of the good. Scorpion is neither good or bad, he simply seeks revenge for his family and clan and was tricked by Quan Chi to think it was Sub-Zero. But the first Sub-Zero never actually killed Scorpions family and entire clan, it was Quan Chi himself. You can read the story about it. That is the basic idea of how it happened. It was a set up. And a great one at that!

I appreciate how much it looks like the recent MK games have inspired the costume design, aesthetic, and kombat of the movie, but they’re still putting their own creative spin on it. Kabal looks straight out of MK11 and it’s awesome! Pumped for this

Sanada is the MAN. He's the guy you call when you need a samurai in your film. From Last Samurai, The Wolverine, 47 Ronin, even Avengers:Endgame and many more...the guy is so natural in that role.

I hope its sorta like the scorpian cartoon. Scorpian is the bad guy but good guy and fkn smashes sub-zero. I used to hate my cousin playing sub zero all the time on megadrive or on an arcade machine, I finally got to a point where I mastered scorp and he cried when i beat him ever after :)

I love Joe Taslim. I liked his character in the show Warrior. He's intensity, skill and talent make him the perfect fit to play Sub Zero.
The warrior is good but the raid films made his career. That's what put him on the map.

From watching this, if it was just about Scorpion and Subzero' s side, I would pay to watch it over and over. Their level in the industry, authentic style and character is just flawless and can't be replaced with their years of of experience in their career.

And I,I was just like Wow Wow Wow Wow!! My little brother repetead after Scorpion when he said:"GET OVER HERE!" and I got chills down my spine. Epic moment for us...

I watched and I approve... best MK movie ever released. Character development feels rushed but fair giving the amount characters MK has, comedy true to the source material. Great film for die-hard fans of MK and for new comers
One of my favorite things is Joe Taslim's facial expression with Sub Zero's eyes at 2:44, he does the same thing in the first trailer where he freezes Scorpion's blood. Makes him look scary as FUCK

i was high school when mortal kombat 2 came out.....i wasnt very good but i managed to win sometimes at the arcade. and when i did my posse would cheer.....those were the good old days. we studied our video games, without internet. it was quite difficult to get any information but we shared it and we practiced so much that if we had spent that time and effort practicing actual martial arts we could all be in mma.
they picked a perfect actor for Scorpion. First saw him in The Last Samurai, he was a badass samurai in there. Im so glad they picked him to play Scorpion.
same goes for Sub-Zero. With "The Raid" and "The Night Comes For Us" Joe Taslim has starred in some of the greatest action movies post 2000

Hiroyuki sanada and joe taslim are the perfect actors for sub zero v scorpion rivalry, both actors are very good at fast paced fights.
sanada is also a masterful actor in both complex and simple characters. he's awesome.

Hiroyuki Sanada got all my respect since I saw him in The Last Samurai. Amazing actor, amazing at doing choreography, dude is 60 years old and still pulling out top martial art moves. One more to the greatest asian actors in cinema history.

I genuinely thought the movie did a really quality job keeping itself really self-aware, never taking it's core "multi dimensional fighting tournament" plot and roots too incredibly serious, because if it actually did, absolutely none of the jokes would have landed in the same fashion that they did. This movie took the time to shed some good light on how insane and over the top the MK universe really is, and needless to say, I quite enjoyed that it had a nice air of humor to it, while also keeping all of the action sequences incredibly over the top, some of them just absolutely unbelievable, precisely as they would be in the games. MK has pretty always had its own brand of humor ever since the first game and isn't meant to be taken with the same level of serious as some reviewers are bound to try to taking it with. For everything that it's trying to offer to the old school MK fans, I genuinely think this film absolutely delivers. Go in with light-hearted expectations properly set and you're almost bound to have a stupid fun time watching this film.

Dude....they added a character named Cole Young who isn't in any mk media....sounds like a big deviation from the story.
The original movie was more game accurate, I saw the movie and it's not even close. The tournament never happens, Scorpion & Subzero are actually several centuries old, Bi-Han Subzero is straight up evil, Cole is the chosen one instead of Luke Kang, their abilities are from a dragon marking, like nothing about it is really faithful

In south east asia they cut and edited those scene with blood and gore and people were complaining about, south east asia has restrictions for movie violence

It’s because he’s a new character. This is Cole’s first appearance. He’s never been introduced in any of the games
He wasn’t too bad tho, overall I was pleased at the movie it felt rushed maybe because of the budget but it’s most definitely 100x better than the old MK movies lol
