This GT350 Rips! One of the best sounding Mustang's we've shot, theres something so visceral about a raw stripped down car and Dave throws down in it! So sit back and enjoy the ride...

This is how carol Shelby would have wanted these cars to be driven
Exactly!
I'd go one step further and say it's how he expected them to be driven.
This right here!!!
i wish he spent more time at ford making every generation have a gt350 a gt500 a boss 302 and a mach 1 all different purposes in the lines above a standard gt etc imagine how crazy some of those cars wouldve been if the epa also didnt choke them to death from like 74 to 92 ish give or take
CARROLL!
Carroll Shelby is smiling down you guys "Let It Ride" Shelby GT350.
You betcha!
Absolutely!
Oh you know he is and cheering him on all the way!!!
Carroll Shelby would be proud 👌👍🙏❤
My new dream car!! Although a 2019 would be a little easier to get too..
I will never forget pulling up to work in the parking lot at 14 years of age as an apprentice mechanic. There it was. A brand new 1965 Shelby G.T. 350. I walked around it for a while. It was stunning. It was one of the most popular cars of the day. Then at lunchtime, I was looking at it again. A mechanic that worked there came up to me and said, next time I go downtown to get some parts maybe you would like to come along. I am 70 years now. I still remember when he turned the key and brought this Legend to life. Everyone as we were driving down the street were looking at it... the sound was so powerful. I will never forget it. Now in my garage is a Replica 1966 Shelby G.T. 350. It has been under a blanket for over 40 years. I remember when I use to take it out for a spin...The people would do what they did when i was 14. This car will always be with me. 9/1/22.
Get that thing back on the streets!!!! Live it up
@@FrownsPerGallon Someday I hope to take the blanket off of it where it has been sleeping and bring it back to life. I will give my daughters a ride. They remember the people and their thumbs up and there inspired shoutouts as we drove down the street. It's a car that people remember and people that have never seen it smile at me. When I go out in my garage, I look at it and it brings back so many heart felt memories, 1/29/23.
@@vincesacca5025 right on homie!
my Dream car has always been a 1962 Slabside Shelby Cobra. But once I started learning more about the 1965 Shelby GT350, seeing videos of them, hearing and seeing them in person. I don't know... there is just something about the 65 Shelby GT350 that I absolutely love. Now I've been thinking of getting a 65 or a 66 Shelby GT350 before a Cobra!!
What a cool story 👍👍🔥🔥
Lets be honest. With all the LS swaps, the Coyote swaps, with their own charm and reliability.. You can't hardly beat and olskool hammering V8. This thing screams so nice, it beats the revving italian supercars on attention. And its not even a ridiculous cubic inch bigblock.
You got that right no Ls,coyote an no new style motor .just all man you got to love it
I'll still take a Coyote 👍
And I'll still take a LS1😝
But its still not what originally came in the car. Should have stayed with solid lifter 289.
@@StreetTruckinTitan if that's a 350 was it a 289 or bigger
Finally someone driving a car properly!! Lol
Amen 🙏🏽
Lmao
Can tell that man loves to hoon 🔥🔥🔥
That has to be the best sounding car you’ve ever tested!
Agreed all the way! Killer sound
Fully agree
I'm gonna try to clone that sound on my cougar Cleveland CJ block with shorty headers now won't do , side exits are hard when lowered too
I love that he left the dings and scracthes. And the sound OMG.
Yeah, total driver!
I love being able to sit on my fenders and not give a shit on my 65 FB restomod.

@@onemoremisfit this whole shit was funny!
I love that he kept it old school, old motor, stock dashboard
Real American Muscle that's what I'm talking about
I love everything about that car. The imperfections, the look and definitely the sound. What I love most is Dave driving that car the way Carroll Shelby meant for it to be driven, LIKE HE STOLE IT.
so tri-y headers, x-pipe, 3"or 4" auger INSERTS, side exit is recipe for this sound, along with high rpm small block, 411 gears really help it get to scream mode
Don’t forget high compression and solid lifter camshaft
Without a doubt, this is the best sounding Mustang I have ever heard. Shout out to your sound crew for capturing this perfectly!
Agreed. The sound is intoxicating
AutotopiaLA Yes indeed! Again, well done!
2003-2004 SVT Cobra Terminator is the best sounding Mustang ever made.
@@lifted_above My 98 Cobra with LTs, offroad Hpipe and 2 chamber flows was the best sounding I ever owned and I had a 2003 cobra as well. I can only speak for cars 79 and up.
@@williammiller8531 Specifically I'm referring to the 4.6 32valve Terminator V8. Here's a sample: kzhead.info/sun/gLWuj82neIl4rGw/bejne.html
This dude's leaf spring beard is worthy of a +1 alone!
Epic for sure.
I generally hate these types of cars. Not being around when they were new, I’m used to them being stuffed in collections and rarely driven. Taken to car shows a few times a year, with the lame ass poster board next to it telling you what it is. So refreshing seeing someone actually use one of these. Such a rad piece
I love that he drives it hard and let’s it be exactly what it is rather than a collectible that goes in and out of trailers and garages
AutotopiaLA Exactly!
When I was 8 years old my dad bought a 65 Shelby G T350 When he brought it home my mom asked him where we gonna put the kids there's no back seat. I remember my dad doing a burn out all the way down the street when he took it back... I'll never forget that. I do remember looking in and seeing a roll bar and asking my dad what that was so I don't know if any the standard versions had rollbar's or if that was in R model..dealership was in Alhambra CA
Can’t wait to have my 63 fairlane wagon and 65 galaxie 500 on the road. I plan to daily them both
@Fred Peterson I can out do you their fred.. My 1st car was a 65 Mustang that had a blown engine I paid $200 for it. It was a 4 speed pozzi which is factory and a 4 barrel 289. My 2nd car at 16 I still had the Mustang was a 64 Corvette 365 horse for speed factory 411s....1500$ I begged and pleaded to borrow $1000 from my dad and he said no. So I went to my grandfather he lent me the money I come pulling up in the driveway in my dad goes nice car you have insurance.? It doesn't move outta here to you have insurance which at 16 in the seventies was over a $1000 a year. I parked it for more than a few months. Back then it wasn't mandatory to have insurance
Okay , who besides me keeps playing this video over and over!!!
I know what you mean! This car is that good and Dave is such an awesome guy to know
I have a supercharged Vette but saving and planning the build. Met a guy at Road America that built a replica to race. Already have the first 20k saved. I’d be embarrassed if I knew how many times I’ve watched this. 57 year old child I am. You’re not alone.
Probably 10 times so far
I'm smelling fear from the passenger seat
American Citizen not a cage
😆
I love the stance and scream of that engine!
I was grinning like a cat in an aviary the whole time you guys were driving it! So bad ass!
Lost for words....just brilliant, why would someone want an electric car after seeing this
Same thoughts for me
Some would still want an electric car because they are fool enough to think they are saving the planet!
Dave's got like 10 souls trying to express themselves simultaneously through his heel-toe work while driving it like they built it and stole it.
Awesome. This makes me never want to buy a Tesla.
Tesla fanboys incoming
Yeah, I'd rather drive a Hyundai with a 6 speed !
They still make those??
@@jeffschwartz5199 then a tesla...sure.
You thought of buying one before this?
That car has so much attitude! What a brutal street brawler! Love it man!
Seeing Ford Racing on the valve covers brought a tear to my eye. No coyotes or LS in sight.
This is raw old school badass for sure
@9:52 I listened to that downshift about 8 times😂
Wow, that '66 sounds angry! I love the rawness of it. Get some!!
Dave , You are a man close to my own heart. When I went to automotive school in 1971 I got to ride with a buddy in a 66 GT350 and I will NEVER forget it. You drive your baby like I drive my 2008 Bullitt. She is a salvage car but I do not mind a burnout or two and driving it to Walmart or Lowes and she shows her age well. She has an H pipe and Ford performance straight through mufflers and I have NEVER driven her with the radio on. She is my time capsule and she takes me back every time I drive her !!! Love your GT Brother !!!! By the way , looks like 6 ricers have watched this.
For those of us old enough to remember when these cars were tearing up the streets for real, this brings back so many great memories of Ford vs Chevy vs Mopar and people racing HARD what are now garage queens and museum pieces. Thank you so much for this video!!
This is it. This is my dream car. Would'nt change a thing to it and would drive the wheels off it. Dam Shaun your one lucky sob. Sick car👍
Totally agree with you she's a beauty
thomas green same!!!
Exactly what I was gonna write 😂
Ditto. Well, I’d ideally want it right-hand drive, but that’s picking hairs - it’s a beauty!
Blessed to own one of these
"FROM NOW ON THAT'S HOW YOU DRIVE!! THAT'S HOW YOU 'SPOSE TO DRIVE!!" BAD BOYS! the 1st 1. I hate trailer QUEENS, this is what u build a car to do! GOOD SHIT!!
Me to. My dads car is similar to this. It’s a 1969 Mercury Cougar. 408 stroker kit with a 4-speed. It makes good power and he drives it hard. But it has some issues and my dad doesn’t have the time to nail down all those issues. So for the ford Carlisle show we took the safe route of choosing to trailer it, because we had no idea if it could actually have made the 2 hour drive safely.
Had a 1965 Shelby GT350 clone I built, similar engine specs, white with blue stripes. Mine was a convertible and had fender flares so no tire rubbing. When you hit 5000 up to 7000, the feeling is just ... superb. That was 40 years ago and I still remember that feel like it was yesterday.
Dave is obviously the Magnus Walker to the Mustang world 🔥🔥
Crazy Dude he Rips it so Badass what a Dream Car and the sound....
Love my classic air cooled classic 911s, but I have to admit it. This is the best sounding car audio I have ever herd. It gave me chills! I have to get one of these before I die! X pipes all the way!
This car sounds incredible. That x pipe and auger makes such a unique tone plus rev’s up to 7000...awesome!!
Man I have been checking everyday for this video!! So glad you got to shoot this car made my whole weekend! Truly a dream car and love the way he drives it!! Thanks guys
This is what old Stangs are about! Thanks for showing it, thanks for using it the way you do Dave!
This ain't no mustang........... it's a Warhorse!
Dave's our new speed demon leader. Loved the whole intense driving!!😁😝
It raised the hair on my back, this thing sounds wicked !
Shawn, a big thank you from France, for sharing with us your enthusiasm, your passion, and these fantastic moments of pure automotive passion.
Wow, one wide awake pony this one!!!! So glad Dave really enjoys the car! Thanks Shawn, this was a nice one, properly enjoyed it, smiles all round...
All I have to say is Steve Mcqueen is Smiling from Heaven, what a Awesome sounding Car. 🤙🏼🍺 The Fiesta Flash
I have watched this video at least 15 to 20 times! The way this guy loves the rawness of his ride rules.. Drum rear brakes, no power steering, magnesium rims! My god! The sound can’t be duplicated!!!!!!
What I'd call a Mustang "Outlaw"! F-cking nailed it with this car, I love it!!!!
Dave knows how to row the gears ! Excellent !! 👍👍
Love the sound!!!!!!!!! Love that he is opening it up on the streets. Like the good old days
This has my vote as the greatest Autotopia video. Dave's car is awesome and full of personality and Dave is awesome and full of personality and just finished watching the second video with the new motor and it's just as awesome. Rock on!!
Thank you and I’m gonna tell Dave what you said here. He is the coolest person you could ever know
Definitely puts a smile on my face hearing this beast!
I love the sound of this car and I love that it’s lightened up and drivable. 400 tq and hp is plenty, very tasteful just like an old racecar.
Agreed all the way 👊
Seeing you two in this mustang spells trouble 🔥🔥⚡️⚡️🔥🔥😂😂
thats a real car men omg i love the sound of the exhaust its amazing sounds like the movie ford vs ferrari ajajajajajaj its great the spec of the car thats why ford create this with shelby omg this car is insane
Another great video Shawn! Best 2 weeks of videos I have seen so far! Keep it up!
Gotta love American Muscle!
I watch a lot of your videos and this is one of my favorites. The sound is so freakin awesome and the way he drives it is what everyone wants to do
And it's a 66 you just don't see those around especially not being driven like this
That car sounds freaking amazing , holy moly , what a car !
Best car and owner you’ve ever featured on the channel! 😎🙌🏼
Oh yeah, wow! Beautiful, a car made to be driven and driven as it should be! ❤
Got the headphone warning then put my thumb on it for that sweet sound. What a unit changed my mind about what to get. Those smile's, priceless as always Shaun cheer's i smiled the whole clip
Definitely a bad ass sound coming from this car. Great video love it!
I've just found this channel it's awesome love the cars like the way you interview simple to the point with genuine enthusiasm . looks like I got a lot of catching up to do can't wait keep up these awesome videos
Glad you found us! No bs here just having fun with cool people and great builds
So far, the best car and owner you’ve documented!! Love it!
Both are so damn cool! Looking forward to more hangs with Dave
I love how he drives it like he stole it! He knows how to drive too that’s forsure! This is one badass ride man! Sounds great and looks amazing!! One hella of a build!!
Street driving is all about theater and feeling. Dave hit that right on its nose.
What a legend this guy is. That sound! Think I had a little moment lol thanks for these vids Shaun. Cheers from Aus
Damn! You guys just keep bringin’ it with these great pony cars! Thanks for sharing this amazing 66!
Fantastic video! The high-pitched scream of that engine is pure aural delight. The car has the look and attitude to match! When you drive a car like that, you feel it in your chest. And a huge smile gets painted on your face....
Music to my ears!! Damn Awesome. This Shelby GT350 is the best sounding ever!👍The exhaust is genius.
Raw and Ruthless as hell man!
Damn damn damn....what a great car! No modern car can give 'that' feeling as a classic can . Useful , beautiful , super fun , the owner with the right attitude , ...Smile all the way. You really find the best cars for your youtube channel !! Thans AutopiaLA to bring this in the picture.
Glad you enjoyed it as much as we did. The owner is cool too. He loves to pound on it!
I absolutely love everything about this car …. Great ride Dave! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I love the look of this car! The wheels and stance are perfect
I cant stop watching this one!
I get why. It’s that good and he’s that cool
The reason this car sounds so good is because of the unique Ford Windsor firing order. Just like a 427 GT (Ford V Ferrari), Ken Block's Mustang* and like a (much louder than, obviously) Australian V8 Supercar - which all uses the same firing order. That aggressive 'wailing' scream at high RPM. Most every V8SC engine sounds like the same old pushrod 302 V8 - even the Nissan Altima Twin OHC V8SC engine the Kelly's were using, you couldn't pick a MORE different engine - because they all MUST use the 302 Windsor firing order as per the rules. The note itself is due to the auger barrel muffler, which is basically straight through. The X Pipe isn't doing much at all for the sound besides balancing it slightly. *Chris Harris even says in his interview segment of the car (he clearly must have asked why so, that it had the unique wailing growl) that it was caused by the firing order. They didn't say which one. But pretty obvious, of course. Best sounding non exotic V8 on earth, IMO.
fyi The LS has the same firing order but does not sound like a Windsor. There's some other Blue Oval magic. You can always ID a 302 w/ Flowmasters from a mile away.
@@SaltFlatMonte @SaltFlatMonte Say wha? 302 is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 LS is 1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3 NASCAR even sound more Chevy with their 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2
This may be a stupid question, but I've been into cars for decades now and have never heard of "V8SC". What does the SC stand for?
I love all the videos on your channel. BUT! This has got to be the best!!! Dave, you have one bad ass car and I appreciate how you drove the hell out of it! Thanks for the video!
I love everything about this Shelby!!
My God! Had chills 10 seconds in! Dave is a badass!
He’s a total badass!!
love the stance ..more than enough power
Absolutely, very well balanced; the torque number alone tells the tale. 👌
I LOVE this 'stang! Shawn, you are spot on about the sounds it makes. It speaks to the enthusiast's heart in all of those of us who 'get it'. This car is like your channel - raw, unfiltered (speak like real men do), real, and features terrific cars. I like all the manual cars I see here.
Thanks for the compliment here and yes…one of the best sounding cars I’ve ever heard and Dave is about the coolest guy you could know too
I would say sir out of all the mustangs that you have driven. This one is my favorite.
It doesn’t get much better than this one
Great ride simple with a great motor. All you need 👍🏽
This car sounds good.ike a Nascar screaming down the road
I definitely love these raw, engaging vehicles more than the fluffy show queens. 400-600 is more than enough hp to have fun with daily. Where can you honestly use 1000 hp except at a track in a measuring contest. Love these episodes.
My favorite AutopiaLA video to date! And there were many great ones! But this car...and Shaun's like ecstatic and scared shitless at the same time...you know shit is going down. Shaun has been in everything worth being in, and this car is the one to shake him up like that! You know then that this is a very special car. Good job to the filming and sound crew for capturing this phenomenal event, making it possible for us to enjoy and appreciate what actually went down. I can hear and see enough (thanks to the wonderful film/sound crew) to appreciate what Shaun's experience might have been like. I want this car, or one just like it! Hit me up!!!
I’m with you! I love this car and since the shoot Dave has become one of my best friends. He’s about as cool as it gets. Definitely got me worked up and so glad I got to drive it. About a month after the shoot he let me take it for a whole weekend and I didn’t want to give it back! Such a cool build
The power to weight ratio on this thing is perfect. I would have thought it had a bit more than just 400 to the wheels with the way this thing gets down. This is one hell of a ride!!
Life is to short to be driving a damn electric car. Man car sound so good.
Yes!
Incredible video and my dream car. I agree, by far the best sounding Mustang I’ve ever heard in my life! Also, I got my AutotopiaLA shirts today in the mail, they are awesome! Thank you so much 👍.
Awesome on the shirts!!! And yeah, this Mustang is so damn good and Dave is as cool as it gets
That car rips sound is so so so so good!!! Thanks for making me smile and giving some inspiration .
That car is the definition of "eargasm"! Awesome car and owner, thanks for taking us along for the ride!!
great car. great sound. cool beard santa !
Hands down my favorite car in this whole series straight muscle 💪🏼
One of my top favs too and Dave is as cool as it gets
Good to see ya bro, I love it when ya have classic mustangs. Thanks for another cool show. Man that stang sounds awesome.
Thanks for watching and yeah, it’s a screamer! Such a cool ride and owner
Badass feature, badass ride along and badass owner!! Nothing but respect!!🏁
Living in Panama City back in the "Day" - I remember being at the PC Airport, the Hertz Car Rental Agency and with my own eyes saw a good half dozen or more Shelby 350 H brand new for rent. All Black with Gold 350 H lower body stripes. All were Automatics. 18 at the time, if I remember correctly, you had to be either 21 or 25 to rent one. I was not saddened too much, my pilot Dad bought a 66 Pontiac GTO, 3-Deuce with close ratio 4-Speed, 3.90 posi for me and him to drive. Ah!!! Them be da good ole days!!!
Cool story! I can’t imagine seeing those lined up for rent!!
Coolest version of the GTO. Looked like a miniature 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix with the running lights in the grill. Not a GM fan except for old Pontiacs cause I learned to drive in one.
Wow! That's a wicked 66. Sounds so f#$% good. Love a fastback! 👍
I cant stop watching Dave's car I love this one I have saved a bunch of just best sounders
We’re going to reshoot it soon with the new engine…going to sound even better he promises
I keep coming back to this video ... just for the sound ... One of the best V8 sounds I'v ever heard !
That Dude is Legend!
Hey Shawn, kick ass video man,I don't think I've ever heard a Shelby sound quite like that, what did it score on the ass dyno?
Dave and Shawn, been looking forward to this vid, great job. Love love love your car mate 👍🏻 I’m building something very similar at the moment and this shoot is getting me excited! What a little beast you have, that’s what I call a real car 😍
Wow!!! That is incredible!!! Sounds absolutely amazing too!!
