    • Exactly! As a fellow secondary school teacher it’s evident that the level of distraction and irrational behavioural issues are exacerbated by social media. When they finally get their phones back at the end of the day the like giving crack to a crackhead sadly. You can just see them zoned out hardly talking to their friends.

  • To be honest, I think social media exaggerrates the number of people who actually think in a distorted manner. Realistically speaking, most people (even Gen Z) don't have radical beauty and money standards. Most people might expect a higher salary for their first job, but that's normal. Social media makes it look like EVERY Gen Z and millennial is shallow minded and impractical because those are the types of teenagers and 20 year olds you're seeing. But the average young person is not caught up in all of this. Most of them are out partying, studying, talking to their friends or watching some random video. I think we're stereotyping too much. Yes, there are many young people with messed up mentalities, but they don't represent the whole generation.

      @thierryparte2506@thierryparte250618 күн бұрын
    • I disagree to some extent. Myself being a Gen Z, a lot of people are caught up in social media's shallow mindedness and impracticality. Because of the societal pressures of looks and relationships, people are more concerned about having a high body count and their looks rather than things that might matter in the long run, like education and becoming a better person. Of course, not EVERY Gen Z is like this, which is why I agree slightly, but many of them are. Nearly everyone in my year vapes daily, smokes weed and would rather get action from a girl than do something productive. Ultimately, Gen Z's focus is about social acceptance because that's what social media is all about nowadays, and it's terrible. Thank God I deleted TikTok.

    • @@splatt5793 I understand what you're saying and I get it. The thing is that people are limited to their interactions and can only speak from experience. Personally, my friends and the people around me are amazing people. Thinkers and hustlers who aspire to be great people. The problem is those kinds of people won't get attention because they're busy doing other thing so than posting on social media the whole day! Maybe I'm being defensive because I'm GenZ, but I think there are other parts of the world that people don't see.

      @kasondelwao3371@kasondelwao337115 күн бұрын
    • @@splatt5793Yeah but a lot of that’s just a product of being young and stupid. Which is something every generation was & will always be at some point. • I've been working in public transit for 20 years here in Toronto and from my experience this generation on AVERAGE (not everyone) is the most entitled, rudest, and just generally the least courteous and respectful out of everyone that I deal with. I work in one of the most diverse cities in the world which love but the last few years there's been a serious change in just general respect. Smartphones and social media are a huge problem for the young. I have a friend who's been a teacher for the past 15 years, and now he hates his job as it's harder to teach the younger generation because of the lack of respect. Smartphones have dumbed down pretty much all of society, but it just ruined this generation coming up. Again, there's going to be some exceptions, but I've seen so much in my 20 years that I just see humanity through a different set of eyes. Respect to you guys, and you got a new subscriber.

Comparing my life to others, thinking I should be doing better, hating myself for missing out on stuff. Idk I just hate smartphones and the apps I guess. I don’t think the apps were designed for this the companies just got greedy from ad revenue, social media is a lot in how you use it. To me it seems its just made the world anti social like there just aren’t any real reasons to ever speak to somebody in public. In college everyone would just stare at their phones nobody ever talked to each other in class teachers would legit be confused. Idk maybe I’m thinking too much into it but it seems social media has had its effects in society a lil bit. Depression has just never been higher, sex rates all time low. Relationships all time low. Shit seems weird to me

Hence, you do not find them engaging in what you stereotypically expect from them. Also, you must remember chances are they also learned history and got acquired themselves with black Muslim revolutionaries like Malcolm X and are inspired by black Muslims like Mansa Musa and Mohammed Ali.
