Hope everyone enjoys the video! Apologies for the variable quality of the clips, I had to work with what I had and as a result there’s a mix of HD footage and Upscaled SD. It’s not ideal, but I hope it doesn’t take away from your enjoyment too much
I love that every character in this show is likeable the kids, the parents even the kids and staff from school who are suppose to be annoying. That’s good writing and characters. Even the popular music they chose from the 90s was perfection
The Agreement was such an amazing episode. From the intro of Orla dancing, the goofy explanation of the Good Friday Agreement in the living room, finding out about Michelle’s brother being in jail for paramilitary killing, Grandpa Joe’s ghost story speech (still gives me chills) and ending with Erin’s final monologue juxtaposed with real footage of Northern Ireland from 1969 to the present, it was such a beautifully done and emotional episode. Lisa really and truly raised the bar of perfection with that one.
That last scene of Liam Neeson was so beautiful… really hit me
One of my favorite characters is uncle Colm. After rewatching and fully hearing his stories, they’re all hilarious. And whenever they call him our Colm, you feel it.
I always thought that the whole Erin and James thing was meant to be a preview of what's to come for them down the line. Simply because the show has always shown how strong and important the core friends group is. They as friends, not some romantic connection threatening the friend group like Michelle was saying. It just wasn't time for Jerin to happen at that moment, but down the line, they will happen, the connection is there. One thing I really loved about the finale is that it was bittersweet, it was true to life. Not everything is wrapped up (though they came close to that, there was still unanswered question like Michelle's brother) there is joy and sadness, it was about letting one chapter end, so another could begin.
I hope they will do a movie later down the road, where the gang reunites years later on some outrageous adventure maybe in the US in the early to mid 2000s years.
The last 10 minutes made me cry🥹 It was beautifully done and you can tell that the writer put a lot of love into the series
I kind of want to see a prequel show center around the parents when they were young.
Amazing writing, amazing acting. 55 yr old woman in Oakland California - you don’t have to be from NI to appreciate this work of genius ❤️
Absolutely agree!
I'm gutted I never got into it while it was broadcast but I just binged it all in the last three days Absolutely outstanding. One small thing - the song they all dance is called 'Proud Mary' not 'Rolling on a river'
When this show was released each season, i was only a random viewer and was only paying attention to the comical element. But then after watching the final season, and not being Irish, I began to wonder what made this show special. So it got me interested in learning about The Troubles and saw doc after doc abt it, and I realized holy moly why didn't I know more about this because that was a really distressful time in Irish history! Then I gave Derry Girls a 2nd viewing, and I began to understand the NI conflict references, their attitudes (their mental state), how each episode's funny story has some parallelism in events during the Troubles, and instead of me just seeing the funny element, it now became an emotional experience. I realized that the show has many layers. How often can you find a comedy set in a terrifying period of conflict where the history is still fresh for them? I'd love to hear Northern Ireland people's thoughts about this show - both those who grew up in the 90s and their parents who lived thru the Troubles. I think this will be another coming of age cult classic and more people should watch this.
The writing of this show was EPIC
I totally agree about the jam packed plot layering. Never rushed. Can we please please have an updated series. I was in from episode one...🍿
I am a 66 yr old man and believe this a work of pure genius.Great review by the way
You’re not wrong! Glad you enjoyed the video
Fantastic review. this show will stay with me forever. an amazing, hilarious emotional show
Thank you! Couldn’t agree more, it’s such a triumph
This show was amazing from series 1 episode 1 till the end of series 3. I’ll miss it
Couldn’t have said it better, honestly this is a fantastic video, you write and present it all so well. Big relate on feeling inspired by the show to write and create more too. I particularly loved Orla’s opening of the final one, realised she’s my fave, and those angel costumes were so good, that episode was amazing even before the final bit. Sweetly, one of my cats came to snuggle halfway through that episode, so that was nice as I had a few tears.
Perfect summary of a perfect show, that's it.
Just watched it finally. Binged all 3 seasons and I couldn't stop watching. Some parts were odd like, James and Erin's Kiss also the beef of the final episode with Michelle. Other than that it was an amazing show.
Clare really was a walking gak attack
Cack lol

im 25 but i feel nostalgic with the show. i love it sooooo much omg.
i loved this show omgg, it was an accidental GEM omg. I love uk shows like wow, end of the fucking world, sex education, i loved how comedic and light it was juxtaposing the tumultuous political climate of that time like wowww. I was on the edge of my seat from start to end!!!!!!!!
The last line of your video is the exact words I was looking for to describe how I felt about the show
I wish I watched this Show sooner, so heartfelt and hilarious!
I want more! I am obsessed with them! I'm 67 BTW I'm getting the merchandise of course. I love them all Sister George Micheal and Collum are my fav I suppose. Truly I love them all.
I don’t want it to end 😭
I recommend Erin's diary I'm after the photo book next. Yes James and Erin was amazing. I'm yelling that's Liam Neeson I know it's him!
I was a little late starting this show, but I just finished it last week and it was fantastic. I hate that they ended it in only 3 seasons, but that final episode was the perfect cap off even if I wish they had done that after another season or 2.
I just finished it today. I would say I want another season, but I really liked the ending and I wouldn’t want it to be ruined by being milked
Here across the pond, many shows are 16 episodes each year.
Derry girls is my favourite show ever
IMHO: Derry Girls is one of the best "TV" shows ever. If you are a cast/crew member reading this...Thank You! for your work. Does anyone know where to get the music track to Orla's walk in episode 1?
Sunchyme by Dario G
Sad it ended.
100% agree.
Loved your review, can you or anyone else recommend other great comedies? :) xx
Also you forgot to mention at the ending monolog Erin essentially confirmed the fact that the character is Lisa herself saying "maybe I will" (write down their story one day).
What else is there for you to cover? The Young Ones from 1982 -84. Please do reaction videos those that English show. theres only 12 episodes.
It takes us irish to make the best comedy!!.❤
I absolutely loved Series 1 and 2 of Derry Girls. Series 3 was know were near as good as the first 2 for me. Series 3 was good but something was missing for me something felt different with it.
My thoughts exactly. The humour became very silly and I hate how much of a punching bag Gerry got turned into. It's ridiculous
They should’ve ended it with the girls in the present day
Do you like Ireland?
id like to think so
Quarter Irish I’m
The last scene kinda ruined it for me, when I rewatch the show I'm gonna stop before that scene
Why did it ruin it for you?
The last scene was perfect, what on earth are you talking about?
The scene at the polling station or the Chelsea Clinton cameo?
Why did the main girl look so old in this season? It was hard to take serious bc she didn't look nowhere near her characters age.
I think the third series is mostly very weak. Poor Gerry becomes even more of a total punching bag with no one sticking up for him and Sarah's just insufferable. Even Granda Joe doesn't get as many funny lines this time either. That being said the final two episodes make up for the lackluster sillyness
First two seasons were undeniably great but third one seemed off. They tried to pass on same formula although it didn’t work, and storylines were derailed too.
