Welcome to Melbourne Australia! In this vlog we check out the best things to do and see in the city, visit St Kilda and eat the world's best croissant! 🎬 Learn how to edit video with Dane - danegerandstacey.com/video-ed... ⬇ More Below ⬇
It's beyond cool to be back in Melbourne, we love visiting our neighbours in Australia across the ditch and this is a city we haven't shared any vlogs from in the past. Melbourne is awesome and we want to share some of the best things to do and sites to see in the city and CBD.
Any list of the best things to do in Melbourne includes visiting a few sites - Flinders Station, Hosier Lane and Federation Square, but we decided to check out St Kilda as well. This is a packed vlog and was so much fun to get our and travel around a city again!
Tasting the world's best croissant at Lune is key - we weren't really expecting the taste to match up the hype, but woooooooh. lt's ahhhmazing!
Footage note - this Melbourne and Great Ocean Road vlog series features a lot of drone footage provided by Tourism Australia and Destination NSW given the flying restrictions in the region/at various sites.
Disclaimer - we teamed up with Jetstar for the flights to Melbourne, but this entire trip in the CBD and along the Great Ocean Road was planned by us: jetstar.com
New Zealand is an incredibly beautiful country with so much to offer - but it's a lot larger than what you'd expect! We're producing the Ultimate New Zealand Travel Guide, a hub full of Kiwi knowledge to help you on your next adventures here. Take a look - danegerandstacey.com/nzguide

  • For anyone looking to go to Lune for a croissant, I would 100% suggest jumping on the tram only 10 minutes trip to their Fitzroy store as there is never a que, it has more space and more options as they are less likely to run out given it is their main unit of production, the store also has a glass prep section so you can see how they work if that interests you which was mentioned in this video.

  • Lovely video! Melbourne is my favourite city I’ve visited in Australia! Been several times and each time, it’s just a joy to be there! Probably because as a Londoner, it feels so familiar to home. There is so much to see and do. The food and coffee culture is impressive! Rococo on Acland Street, St Kilda is where I’ve had fantastic meals, topped off with seeing the penguins on the beach afterwards 🤗 Can’t wait to get back to Australia and New Zealand again one day. Miss both countries so much. Happy travels guys!

  • Did you guys rock up to Melbourne in the middle of winter on a random weekday like a Tuesday or something? As a native Melburnian I can tell you that heaps of places, like St Kilda, are pretty dead on a weekday during the day. St Kilda especially was hit hard during COVID so lots of places have closed. But, regardless of that, it’s great to see you guys experiencing my hometown and showing all the great aspects. The inner north, like Fitzroy, Collingwood, Northcote, and Brunswick have a really hipster vibe, more than St Kilda.

    • Coillingwood was awesome! We just uploaded the 2nd Melbourne video and ended up there - super cool spot. And yeah, this was just a random weekday adventure, some times thats a pro because of less people, other times a con because not much going on

  • Hey Guys Thank you for your amazing videos on Australia! I recently made a vacation trip to Australia with my family and we followed many of your recommendations. LUNE was out of the world! We also thoroughly enjoyed unique places like Hopetown falls, River cruising in Cairns, harbor bridge climbing, Luna Park etc. My 9yrs old daughter also follows your travel vlogs and she was more than excited to remember your videos when we visited these places. Thanks once again. We had a great trip to Australia. And may you make many such interesting videos!

  • Love your Vlogs which I discovered while researching my NZ trip planned for March with my best mate - big thanks for those as really helped us with deciding where to go, what to see, where to eat and stay. Just can't wait to visit NZ! I was very excited to see you visiting Melbourne. Being Victorian (and having previously lived many years in Melbourne) I was disappointed you didn't show the cake shops of Acland St. There's some amazing ones with a lot of history too... I saw that you walked right past one. That pita looked amazing though. Next time I am in Melbourne I am going to have to go to Lune, I think I've walked past it but never been in. And seems you have an upcoming Vlog on GOR (local acronym for the Great Ocean Road) which is pretty local to me so I am looking forward to that (hope the weather got better!)

  • Hey Dane and Stacey. Hope your short time in Melbourne was memorable. Harriet and I visited Melbourne just before the Pandemic. All the places you went to we have been. Did you go to Queen Victoria Market ? We took a free Tour with a guide from the Public Library of Back Alley Streets. Our Tour Guide explained some of the famous street art created by some well-known street artists. We have a cousin who married an Aussie from Melbourne. We met them at the Lune Croissanterie Fitzroy. The Lobster Tails Croissants were delicious. Great Memories of Melbourne. We plan to return again. By the way, how is Nalu doing? What a sweetheart. Love you guys' 😍😍😍 Jim, Harriet and Yuki. Richmond, Va.

Nalu is doing great, this past few weeks it's almost like he's just getting it if that makes sense? No biting, better behaved and just more in tune with us and it's SO amazing! Hope Yuki is doing great ❤

  • I really enjoyed this video - I subscribed to keep up-to-date with new stuff but I'm looking forward to going through your back catalogue as well. To be honest, I found it cool for Melbourne to be the subject of a travel vlog from New Zealanders. We're so close, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more - I'm used to seeing people from the other side of the world talking about Australia and getting excited by it all, and for antipodeans like us to similarly head out to the other side of the world... I'm off to the US in a few weeks - it may be the two of you who have inspired me to vlog it!

  • Wow, Melbourne looks just as epic as the tales I've heard, have made it out to be. I met a girl travelling in Morocco who a few years later stayed with me for a couple of months whilst she got a job and flat in London doing the whole working holiday visa thing. She'd lived in Melbourne for a while after Uni and absolutely raves about the city, but I've only been making up pictures in my head - you guys have given me the proper images and even more context. The croissants looked epic, and yes, whilst not cheap, any big city like this will have places that charge similar prices and you know you're getting quality for it! St. Kilda looked so beautiful. I get you were there in the off season for a beach day, but I can imagine it bustling with hot weather - very much up my street! ❤ This place was already on my bucket list, but you guys have pushed it higher!

    @WhenAdventureKnox@WhenAdventureKnox Жыл бұрын
    • Exactly, any big city comes with a big price tag... at least comparatively to the rest of the country. We tend to think you get what you pay for though! Definitely keep/put Melbourne on your list, it is such a cool place!

  • Glad you enjoyed your stay here in Melbourne. It's a pretty cool place, despite the changeable weather 😅 Lots of nooks and crannies to explore. St Kilda looked pretty quiet that day, but it's usually packed on the weekends with everyone hanging out in bars and eating their way through the cake shops that have been there since Jewish ppl fled here during WWII. You should have caught the tram there - takes a while but it's much cheaper and you get to see more of Melbourne 😊

Is it easier to buy a SIM card and cancel your phone plan back home and still have a reliable connection? Or is it more trouble to go through an international plan your your provider? Best thing you can do is keep Whatsapp with your original number (eg it will ask do you want to update to the new +61 phone number, which you say no)

  • Thats was really nice to get to see some of Melbourne. Is the river so brown because of the weather or is it always like that?

    @totallyempty@totallyempty Жыл бұрын
    • I am from near Melbourne and used to live there. We call it the upside-down river as it looks brown even more so on overcast days or after rains due to the clay soil.

      @Jutta_KG@Jutta_KG Жыл бұрын
    • Eucalyptus tannins colour the water like tea. The water from rain and melted snow flows down the river from the forested mountains and bushland with falling leaves, bark, branches and trees soaking in the water turning it brown before it reaches the city. It is not city pollution.

  • St Kilda died off many years ago. Lots of homeless now, boarding houses for low income/homeless, street walkers etc its a bit of a sad shadow of itself now. Melbourne in Winter isn't very exciting, things are just starting to come back to life now! Grand Final, Melbourne Royal Show, Tulip Festival, Picasso exhibition. And when Summer gets here every beach is busy and the food comes to you.
