As a retired reading teacher,I used to about stroke out when seeing someone tear up a book😳🥺I have learned to appreciate the making of books by gently taking them apart. I know books have been replaced with technology and its rewarding to know they can still be used in some way. I have learned all this by watching you. You don't know how much I truly appreciate and enjoy your renewed use for these books, never to become just trash. Thank you so much!

  • I'm thanking you in advance for this series of videos, b/c I've only seen Parts 1 & 2, but I'm going to assume that Part 3 is as excellent as the first 2. I'm gathering beginner videos, & yours is the first one I've watched that actually has to do with how to make & assemble the actual journal using signatures. By the time I'm done with this series I feel confident that I will be able to make this sort of journal, though I'll no doubt have the video playing along with my first couple of efforts! The one thing I found difficult was the stream of commentary, which made it hard for me to concentrate on the process, but from the other comments, it seems like most people weren't bothered or enjoyed it, so clearly it's just me! Thanks so much for this series, I really appreciate people who take the time to teach as you have done.

  • I know I’m a little late to the table but I’ve watched so many journals being made already, I thought to myself, “I can’t really possibly learn too much from watching another series”. Boy, was I WRONG! I’ve watched many being done but have only sewed in one with more than one signature and it was way more aggravating than it looked. However after watching this series, I truly believe I have learned a lot! First off, I am now sold on your secret about the two holes being closer to each other at one end than the other so that you can always tell which end is up. I believe this alone will be a game changer for me and make me enjoy this process much more. And second, I believe I can now justify a big bite crop a dile purchase and not feel guilty about it. Because after I punched my holes then by the time I fooled around with the needle going in them then at the end I found the holes to be larger In My papers anyways. But by going ahead and making them like that to begin with, means I can make them all uniform and make it look much nicer and hopefully save so much time and just zip through the sewing the signatures in process! 😳🤗😎🤓 You are super smart and also a very good teacher. Thank you so much for sharing your journal making with us. I am so glad I decided to listen to my instinct and watch this series of yours (your old books in the thumbnail is what really caught my attention). 😊🤓🤷🏻‍♀️😬 It really would have been my loss to not watch this. Again, thank you and Be well. 👍🏻👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • You’re giving me so many ideas with my paintings I do with flowers. I wanted to find somehow to make a vintage journal like this and add my artwork to it. This is perfect and seems easy for me to try. Loved this. Thank you ☺️

  • Great instructions. Love your ideas! I have been meaning to get more hands-on craftsy with painting & journaling. I wasn't sure, till now, what to do with my old books that have no value. Making your own paper, well, sort of, is a lovely way to get contrast & texture. Thank you.
