Painted a large part of the german tanks and played a few games, learning the game. After a year I had other stuff to do, and now Im thinking of getting back into the game. So Im a newby again with all these rule changes lol. So I will be waiting die next vids😀👍

    @thomassmith9234@thomassmith92343 жыл бұрын
  • Unless you know nothing about WWII you can skip the army books. Battlefront offers boxes with all the unit cards for each force book for about half the cost of the book. You'll find that you want the cards later, as you'll have the cards for your units right at hand. There are also Command Cards that allow for variants in your forces and special units/items. Both together cost about the same as the book, though you can do without the Command Cards quite easily. The unit cards also come with a double- sized card which lists the formations and what's in them, exactly as in the books. If you're on a budget, buying the cards might be a better fit, though you miss out on the history, pretty pictures, and painting guides. But honestly, you can find that online for free. When you buy your Battlefront minis you'll get a card or cards for that unit, but spares don't hurt. One of the good things about Flames of War is that you don't HAVE to use BF minis, unless you plan on playing in a BF sponsored event. There are many companies that make 15mm (1/100) scale tanks, etc. Quality varies, but there are options. You can even play in 6mm (1/187) scale, which is even cheaper,

  • I've never seen the armies of late war book before....is that the book that came out before Fortress Europe? Also, the forces of war bit needs to be pushed more. When i got into fow I thought it was a scam but I cannot recommend enough how easy and fast it is to make an army on your phone. I can put together a 200 point army in about 15mins.

  • Several people have mentioned these $1 formations in Forces but I haven't found a single thing that's less than $3. I'm wondering if prices change if you've already bought some other book which those formations come from. Either way, since the debacle that was the P3 Warmachine/Hordes app I won't spend real cash on virtual access to stuff I may or will own in hardcopy. I would, however, like to find that Armies of Late War book somewhere. I have D-Day Germans on order but it would be nice to see what the forces of other nations look like in case I someday want to branch out.

  • "The Armies of Late War" is a bit out dated and no longer available. It contained the old points so all the point values are no longer correct. Probably best to not steer people to that book.

    @Cygnus610@Cygnus6103 жыл бұрын
    • Agreed, Fortress Europe is now the generic/entry book for Late War in v4. It even allows to play some units from mid-war (Luchs, german a/c, etc.) that are not included in the later books and is still compatible with the others v4 Late War books. Actually that is the book that allows you to field armies for Italy . For ex. you can take the FE book for the Ferdinand, mix Panzer platoon and Stuka support and then take a Fallschirmjäger formation from DDay.

Part 2 listen to cross the old bastard's tell you that there there are better that are more historically accurate that you need either a history or a math degree to play part 3 ignore part 1 and 2 and find people to have fun with and part for remind Crossfield bastards that life is hard they're old so they should know that

  • I hate seeing weapons on the table that should never be engaging in direct fire with an enemy unit (like the M7 Priest or any large-caliber artillery piece). It removes any believability the game has for me. This is why I have a bunch of painted FoW models that haven't been used in 15 years: the rules SUQ! From what I've heard, it's now a tank-emphasis game and infantry armies (which historically fought the war as the dominant force across all times and theaters) are incapable of winning against a comperable force comprised of armor. Is that true?

    @danepatterson8107@danepatterson81072 жыл бұрын
    • Hi Dane, thanks for the comments. I think the game naturally encourages tanks for beginners and is one of the reasons we see a prevalence. Tanks are also easier to learn and tactics are more straightforward. However I think at most tournaments all tank armies are a terrible idea and if you look at what's winning you will see infantry lists and Mechanized lists at the top. Sure a person can bring an all tank list but they will perform terribly on a table with lots of buildings and woods, Also any all tank army that has to play as the defender in s mission with deep reserves (only 1 unit on the table with armor 4 or more at the start) is doomed. I will almost always try to include at least one unit of Infantry and 1 of artillery in most any lists I run.
