Yeah. The art style still isn't the best, but overall it's a pretty big improvement over Shadow Dragon. It's one of my favorite FE games as well.
Hmm... I actually really liked the art style in this. For some odd reason it reminds me of CORE design. And the in game graphics of shadow dragon look a lot like diablo 2
Captain Karnage Why was it Japanese exclusive? The other remakes were released internationally and this came out after Fire Emblem games would be released internationally.
The Cutehog Team Fire Emblem was doing poorly at the time.
David Riley Still, Shadow Dragon was a remake of the first game and it released internationally. There is no excuse for New Mystery of the Emblem to be Japan exclusive!

6:21 Cue one of the greatest map themes in the entire series. It was so good they remade it for echoes' post game finale.
Oh yeah. Wonder why they reused it for that map?
One thing that sort of bothers me is that the game forces way too many units into your final party in order to get the "best ending". Like, it wouldn't be so bad if there were more than just one specific unit to rescue each princess. Lena, for example, could've been able to be saved by Matthis (her brother). Or Maria could've been saved by Michalis (since you can actually recruit him in this version of the game).

Yeah, this remake also guts the number of deployable units you can have compared to the original (From 15 down to 12 for most maps), a baffling choice considering how ginormous the overall roster is because of the everyone is here thing.
The ending when it goes over the character profiles. The song sounds like a 3DS tune, not a DS one. It's beautiful! ^.^
Well, time to comment on a 6 years old video that probably no one will see. So, This is still one of my favorite games, but I have never played the last chapter like you did. No tiki, no nagi,but most importantly,NO WARP STAFF. You have earned my respect.
In my last replay of this awesome game, I've made all of the carriers of the three Regalia attack: My Unit (Myst, a female Paladin) with Mercurius, Ryan with Parthia, and Sheeda/Caeda with Gradivus, before ending Medeus with Marth. It was really epic (and luckily, none of the other critted Medeus... That would have been an insta kill for any of them hahah)
I used Starlight with Merric LVL 20, Max Magic and a Critical Hit Medeus' HP: 1

I really hated that you needed to have Julian, Merric,Sirius etc ... I only used Minerva and Merric, the other two were not even trained :l

You could just deploy them. Just make sure they are not in range of anyone.
They’re all actually very competent in this game.
I love the map music for this chapter. This game probably has my favorite endgame theme in the series.
Sad. They removed Mesdus's final quote as he says as long there is light, there will be darkness. That's my favorite part of his quote in Mystery of the Emblem
This chapter is much shorter in the SNES one, though I would make the argument also a little more difficult just since reinforcements attack on the turn they spawn, and they are all earth dragons.

Nope, he's just held in Altea until Chapter 15.
Weren't some of the healers in Shadow Dragon? I assume you can't recruit these same people for the whole game until the end unlike shadow dragon.
Everyone but Nyna was playable in Shadow Dragon. Since you get them in this chapter, they're really only usable in multiplayer.

Are you supposed to meet certain requirements to get this chapter then? Because in my first playthrough, the game ended after I beat Hardin
Yes, you have to get all twelve Starsphere shards before the Ice Dragon Shrine, then all five of the spheres by the end of chapter 20, (though the Light sphere is required, and the Dark Sphere drops automatically after defeating Hardin, and is unusable in game.)

How did you managed to play this game when it was originally Japanese? Unless did you use a emulator to play the fan made English patch version?
I know this is a DS Game, but damn, the sprite of Medeus is a straight up eons below downgrade from the one they used of him in the FE3 iteration.

And Michalis? Why are they alive?
Frey survived his wounds from the prologue of Shadow Dragon, but wasn't able to recover until the period between that game and this one. Michalis can survive through sheer determination if you place Minerva over the village he's in within a certain number of turns and before Marth visits the village. He joins after that chapter is done.
