When Townshend said 'wasted' he was talking about how his generation had so much promise but it was just wasted in the end. My dad who fought in Vietnam thinks about all his brothers who never came back when he hears this song. Each generation at times seems to repeat the same mistakes. This whole album is great but Baba O'Reilly and Won't Get Fooled Again are basically songs young people need to hear.

This is the first song that got me into the Who. It saved me from the prison they call high school in the middle of nowhere USA. I saved up all my money and "Who's Next" was the first album I ever bought. I've purchased thousands of albums over my life and I'm proud to say it's still my favorite album! (here I am still listening to it). I started wearing Who t-shirts and drawing their logo on all my book jackets etc. Back then all my classmates thought I was a weirdo. Now I'm not only grateful for their music, but for teaching me how to be cool. To the Who, the coolest rock band ever!

This song gets more emotional as time goes on. I'm not from The Who's generation, but this song has elements of the young (at the time) post-war generation, living their life to the fullest, being free and racing against time. Now, that time has gone and that generation, including The Who themselves have grown old and are sadly leaving us. The future may see this song as a frozen snapshot of a far away generation that will then be long gone.

His name is Dave Arbus and he is 82 years old now. I have eclectic taste in music, but deep down, I really have a thing for piano, and violin. I'm not quite sure where this comes from. I may be a reincarnated person. Most likely, it's because they are wondrous instruments for classic musical expression. The piano and the violin that is.

John's wonderful bassline, Keith's excessive symbol bashing, Pete's excellent powerful lead guitar and of course Roger's vocals make this a perfect example of why the Who were such an amazing four piece. Pete's obsession with synthasizers was also put to good use in this classic. My favourite song by anyone from anytime without doubt.

This song hit me like a freight train. My parents are Vietnamese refugees, and after listening to this song I can now see how much trouble they had to get through just to find a home.
Wow the violin at the ending of the song is such a masterpiece itself
This song gets more emotional as time goes on. I'm not from The Who's generation, but this song has elements of the young (at the time) post-war generation, living their life to the fullest, being free and racing against time. Now, that time has gone and that generation, including The Who themselves have grown old and are sadly leaving us. The future may see this song as a frozen snapshot of a far away generation that will then be long gone.
All art is that way. In the time of your life, live.
Life is not life. It is just the beginning
Well said man, when the newer generation like generation Alpha (a generation I've personally never heard of until google told me), Z and Y, they grow old and they have kids, the silent generation, generation X, the Greatest and Lost generation and the baby boomer generation will be long gone behind us, "Lets get together, Before we get much older" couldn't have been said better, it will be here before we know it
Looks like there's gonna be another post-war generation soon

A plethora of instruments and finnominal vocals along with the amazing talents that performed them. This is everything I love in music perfectly rolled up into a nearly 6 minute power drive. A song and experience like none other, it never gets old.
Brilliant description! Must be the second best intro of any pop music track (top place of course to Voodoo Child!). Daltrey's vocals are so, so iconic but that first verse is true 'hairs on the back of neck' job!!

This song always feels just right. It gives me a feeling of nostalgia but I dont know what. Maybe its all of my happy memories bundled in to one.
It feels nostalgic and it also feels like moving past one part of your life as that part ends but beginning a new part/story. Which makes sense. Its kinda insane how well The Who was able to disill those feeling and emotions into this one song.

Legends say Joe Pera is still dancing.
I swear this band has some of the iconic moments that is being used in media history.
I remember this intro song during the Laker days around the 2010s💜💛
Used to listen to this every morning while entering my high school campus I always felt special walking in crowded halls in a school with 4,000 other students each living their very own lives dealing with their own problems and every single one of them just trying to get through this part of life that marks the beginning of the rest of it
To me, this song means triumph over adversity. Everytime I hear this, I dream of the day I achieve all of my goals.
"Joe Pera Talks With You." brought me here,
"Here they are, The New York Rangers!"
First round exits

The visuals are perfect for this 70’s epic soundtrack.
**Record Scratch** **Freeze Frame** "Yup, that's me. You're probably wondering how I got into this situation. Well, it all started the other day..."
Came here from clarksons farm. When Caleb listened to it in his tractor, I immediately fell in love with the tune
The Winchesters sent me here. "Detroit steel makes a hell of a weapon."😉😉😉😉😉😉
The memories of being at school and being introduced to The Who through CSI. NY's was always my favorite theme
Happy 50th anniversary to Baba O'Riley and the album Who's Next! Can't belive it's been this long
At 21 this was just one of my many anthems during my college years........now at nearly 72 it has my heart firmly in its grasp.......long live the flower power generation.....so sad many of us lost our way......
LETS GO RANGERS BABY
Took me right back to the 70's and the many "Trips" that I took! THANK YOU!
@Diana how are you doing today and hows the weather over there
One of the greatest songs ever but this intro might be THE greatest ever. My god.
Really loved the change of visual angle in 3:26 !! That was subtly brilliant!

LETS GO RANGERS!
My teacher always said the who was her favorite, hell i cant believe it took me this long to find this, may this song live on!
Those keys ay the beginning...epic every time!!
I saw and heard the Who in 1973. You have no idea how great they were. Keith just killed it, as they all did. One of the smartest things I ever did....drive to St. Louis with my friends, from Lawrence KS to see and hear maybe the greatest live band of all time. @ 18...I was damn smart. With a lot of help from my friends. The music we listened to....the greatest of all time.
I was at there. Greast and unforgettable concert!
Who is still listening in January 2024?
Just a pure classic.
God bless THE WHO from Dublin lreland 🍀🇻🇦🇮🇪🇬🇧🇮🇪🍀🇬🇳🇬🇳🇯🇲🇯🇲R.I.P m👀n OX. Keep the faith MOD a way of life. Brian Jones R.I.P THE real Stone.

Five minutes of pure bliss - it's timeless.

God bless The Who. Greatest rock band EVER!
"Come on in, you gotta hear this song..."
newwwwww yorkkkkk rangerrrrrsssss
I was born way after this song was released (1994) and somehow it feels very nostalgic to me. Like a time I long for that I wish I could be in.
Life's too short to wish you were born in a different generation bro
You probably heard it at the beginning of a film.
You don't wish you were born in the 60's. We only think about the good parts of the 60's but it was a depressing ass time. The threat of nuclear annihilation was at it's peak, JFK was assassinated, the Vietnam War was ongoing, and not to mention the rampant racism that was present nearly everywhere.
In high school when it came out. Good Times, great music.
@@floppavevo5920true, but you're only talking about the US
CSI : New York !
Yup. Another CSI: NY fan joined
LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is anyone still here in 2024
Some songs last a lifetime never get old and get better with time.
