    • It is not any better than any other violin. People say it is better or the best so that they appear to be more cultured, knowledgeable, or an expert. It is like when says a very expensive bottle of wine is the best, until they find the fake label is actually on a cheap bottle. There is little or no difference in quality, just the perceived value. For the violin, you could polish a very inexpensive one, make up a detailed story, and say the value is $100 million. Many self-proclaimed experts would agree to promote their own identity, showing how shallow they are, and not suffocated.

      @dasportsfan2122@dasportsfan21225 ай бұрын
    • @@billlembke1768 you would be right if we were talking about a master crafted modern violin. Those are often chosen above Strads in blind tests in terms of sound. But it is very, very different from lower quality student instruments. There certainly is a lot of snobbery and adherence to tradition in the classical music world, but to say a Strad doesn't sound better than other violin just isn't true. It is worth noting that these are also centuries old instruments that have been cared for and maintained to remain playable in the modern era. Their value isn't solely for their sound, they are also pieces of history.

  • I’ve played violin for many years, but the clarity and depth to the sound this violin produces is second to none. Those notes do not sound the same on a regular violin, and if I had to guess a reason it would be the chamber of the violin. I think it’s perfectly shaped in such a way that it allows the sound to echo out from inside at almost the same frequency and strength. Incredible.

Just like how the voice falls and rises naturally from gravity and exertion through our vocal chords, its like the instrument has a spectrum of voices that ranges on its own, going up and down, reacting so accordingly to the players weight distributions and gestures... what a reactive and responsive instrument!!! the instrument allows and enables the sound so well that the player is aiming for and just adds so much color to every little moving part.. it literally has a mind of its own that responds to the players will!! superb!

An experiment was done where professional soloists played many violins in the dark - some of the violins were stradivarius, some were modern violins, and some were even violins under $2,000. Not a single soloist could pin point the strads. AND some of them actually preferred the sound of the modern violins.

    • Carl Ciulla, I'm sure that Stradivarius was an excellent luthier ,(no spellchecker, I'm not trying to type Luther)but, I think that to say that he is the greatest and no one can make a violin better than him is ridiculous. Of course a violin thats 300 years old would sound great but, compared to what? A violin that is only made 100, 50 , or even 10 years old that has had time to age? They're telling me that in the modern times there isn't a luthier ,(stop it spellchecker) that can make a violin as well as Stradivarius? I've been playing on and off for over 50 years and I can't tell the difference. Jascha Heifetz finished a concert and went into his dressing room. He heard a knock on the door and it was a fan that wanted to congratulate him. He said," Sir, your violin sounded magnificent tonite!" Heifetz picked up his violin and held it to his ear and said, "hmmmm, I don't hear anything"!

It was beyond astonishing. She was a conduit with each leg & each arm/shoulder responding to a different section of the orchestra as she played her solos. And I swear, she appeared to be suspended in air an inch or two off the floor magically as the music flowed through her. • Something some of you have to realize about this violin for those that are saying "Why does a bank own a instrument" or "why is it worth so much" Everything about this violin is handmade, and is roughly 200 years old. There are also only about 650 out of 1,100 of these instruments are left in the entire world. And only 224 of those are violins. The process that Antonio Stradivari has not been able to be replicated.

    @jacobfeagin8560@jacobfeagin85603 жыл бұрын
    • When you think about it, 200 years isn’t a long time. For example a person could live almost 100 years, so 200 would mean that a grandchild would be in possession of it, given that it is well cared for in its environment. Could it be that it’s valuable because it’s like a “first edition” book from the original maker? We still have a few trees left that are 200 years old in the forest. Now, a violin could be much older... given if a tree is over many years old! If a tree is 300 years old and then made into a violin, it would be 500 years old. They’re such deceitful little things! 😝

    • The rarity is the main reason these are valuable and the time period they come from. While Stradavarious was hands down the best luthier of violins in his day and for a long time to come he was still stuck in the technology and knowledge of the 17th century. He wasn't making these things with dark matter or exotic physics. I'm sure the process can be almost 100 percent duplicated today by modern analysis and science.
