I was there in many places shown in the video just over a year ago, but it feels like it was in a different lifetime 😥. The football at the entrance to Irpin, the bridge over Dnipro, the streets and underground coffeeshops in Lviv... Thank you Barbs ❤

    • @@adamt-uz3og Meanings change. The earliest usage of this flag happened during the 12th century. Currently it's an unofficial war flag. Edit: This is what the Ukraine Crisis media center writes: Russian propaganda is still _demonizing_ the red-and-black flag to portray it as the symbol of Ukranian "fascism" and "nazism" used by Ukranian "far-right-nationalists" to kill Jews and Poles. In fact, the black-and-red flag is depicted in the painting "Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks" by _Ilja Repin_ , which was created back in 1880-1891 The black-and-red flag was never officially adopted as a symbol of the Ukranian Insurgent Army (UPA) and the Organization of Ukranian Nationalists. However, it was used in Ukraine's national _liberation struggle_ in the XX century The flag was actively used during the Revolution of Dignity and the Russo-Ukranian war as a _symbol of freedom_ and the fight for an independent Ukraine. Black means Ukranian land and red - Ukrainian blood spilled for Ukranian liberty

    • It did start in 2014, history doesn't care how you feel, not trying to be offensive here. The war started in 2022. It's like there were battles before 1st of September 1939 and yet that's what we consider the start of the war.

      @nikolavideomaker@nikolavideomaker Жыл бұрын
    • @@nikolavideomaker Well its not so black and white, mamy historians actually argue that WWII started in 1937 with Japan's invasion of China. I agree that the low intensity conflict in Donbas since 2014 and the full scale invasion of 2022 are not the same, but it ia more than just "his feelings" that Ukraine and Russia were engaged in hostilities since then and for many soldiers who served during that time the war was very real.

      @adrianmartin7344@adrianmartin7344 Жыл бұрын
    • @@nikolavideomaker no. You are not correct. War started at 2014. When 3 ukrainian regions was occupied by russians troops and we had few horrible fights at Donetsk airport, debaltsevo, savur mohyla. Only in 2014 russian militaries killed more than 3000 ukrainian civilians and more than 4000 ukrainian militaries. And during 8 years thousands of ukrainians lived under russian occupation, like my parents for example.

      @Olyame@Olyame Жыл бұрын
    • @@nikolavideomaker More than 14,000 people were killed in the War in Donbas before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. They're 2 distinct periods of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War, but I would say the fighting was intense enough and the casualties high enough to classify the conflict beginning in 2014 as "war".

Yes, it was difficult to do both politically and from a legal point of view, but it was necessary.

I always wanted to visit Ukraine to learn more about that place and my mom would always tell me stories. A lot of my relatives live there or have moved to America as well (some due to war). For me it's such an odd place to be because I don't really feel like America is my home but Ukraine I can't really call it home either. I try my best to support Ukraine by donating money and such. English though happened to be the third language I learned when I was young it was first Ukrainian, then Russian, then English. Also where I grew up and still am at is pretty ghetto and about the least place with Ukrainians. I actually speak African American Vernacular English and due to that people get shocked when I start speaking fluently Ukrainian or Russian, even Ukrainians I have met! 😂 I feel like it is a privilege though to get to experience both worlds and I think has contributed greatly in who I am today.
