I'm recovering after hip surgery and was suffering a pretty bad muscle spasm. It felt like my upper quad was filled with concrete. So my nurse recommended I look up some relaxing music and focus on my breathing until the meds kicked in. I found this album through a Tycho song and decided to give it a listen. By the time I hit "Footsteps" I didn't even feel the spasms anymore. Even if it was the drugs, I choose to believe the music here really got me through that.
Used to have this on the channel, but sadly Universal claimed it. Good to see it's still surviving elsewhere!
Of course, UMG. UM-We're so inept we let our music back catalog that we're supposed to protect literally go up in flames-G
Why did Universal of all things claim it?

What you have just said is the exact path people need to take to move through many of our hardships. The goal of many spiritual practices appears to be to extricate who we are from the suffering our tiny egos cling to.
As for me I realized that I was always riding on luck alone. It was just that at some point I was ignorant of just how out of control everything and thus myself really is.
Nah fam kick jesus out da fucking driver seat and speed dat bitch outta here! We driftin tonight foooool

"Nana" 09:41 samples "Ponta de Areia" by Milton Nascimento and Fernando Brant. The original song depicts life around the old railroads of Minas Gerais towards Bahia, towards the sea. It is a beautiful eulogy to a past long lost but still lingering. I wonder what Vanilla meant by sampling it. Anyway I'm glad I found this album and could figure out this reference. Hope you all have a nice day.
❤️🇧🇷
Well written 👍
Thank you. My life is richer from this music and your reference. As a culinary student back in college, my finals was Brazilian cuisine; Bahia’s culture and religious practice has always been a fascination to me.
Milton Nascimento the GOAT
Loved EWF version of Ponta too
Footsteps is such a masterpiece to me
It's incredible
But what's the original source for the song.
How is every song a banger with its own distinctive style? Insane album.

Summer is one of my all time favorite "vaporwavey" songs. I remember when I found this gem on KZhead and it blew my mind. These type of finds happen as often as finding love in life.
vaporwavey, never heard that term but its so perfect at describing that sound
check out the original by kool and the gang, it is called "summer madness" its very nice even though i like vanilla's version more
@@kurisutiy As soon as this tune came on, I was immediately like "Kool and the Gang!?", This used to be played at the end of Allen Almonds "Pillow Talk" radio show, they'd sign off at the witching hour with that track every night.. so much nostalgia!

"Summer" got me hooked when I heard it a few years back. Love how they took Kool and Gangs classic and made it even better.

True. A pure gem.
"Traveller" (37:33) is such a vibe. All I picture when I hear it are concourse malls and department stores in Center City Philadelphia on a rainy autumn November evening. Pure bliss.

No wonder I felt the breath of "Nujabes" beneath the sounds. Just searched on Google about Vanilla, and found out that vanilla got affected by him. Anyway, I'm extremely happy and glad I've found Vanilla, and all these beautiful, smooth sounds. Thank you!!
Kenichiro Nishihara is also sort of carrying the torch of Nujabes if you enjoy the more jazz-like composition of his. There are still some nice beats behind some of Nishihara’s songs as well though. He also makes music with many of Nujabes former features like Cis Starr and Substantial.
