100m Final Edmonton 2001, Maurice Greene run 9.82, with headwind and injured in last 20 meters
Пікірлер
He was definitely in the low 9.7s without the injury. He was FLYING with so much inertia that he limped the final 20 and still won. This was his perfect race.

Maurice Green was the king of men 100m in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Green won all the global championship 1997-2001. He probally would of ran faster than his PB 9.79 in this race if he wasn't injured. He was limping 20m before the finish and still ran 9.82. A great champion shame he dosen't get the recognition he deserves.

His 60 and 70m splits were both 0.83, then all of a sudden he went 0.86/0.89/0.91 which is not right for that sequence. He would have probably run 9.72 or so into a slight headwind. A decent +1ms wind or more and he'd have broken into the 9.6s zone in 2001!

Without the injury, Greene clocks at least a 9.76 here, and possibly as low as 9.74. Who knows, he might have remained thr world record holder until Bolt hit greatness in 2008. And this was into a slight headwind, too. Still irks me that he couldn't run through the line here, would have ran something which seemed scarcely possible back in 2001.
