This theory actually works so well. But something else I’d like to add to this is with our original 4 being at the circus. It clicked with me that we see in MULTIPLE games that if you press Freddys nose, it honks, very similar to a clown nose honk. This honk is a gag to make characters goofy, more likable, and funny. So it would make sense that a bear, normally associated with fear, would have this bit. I think you’re completely correct here Tom with these characters being from the circus, and Freddy’s nose is a key detail that we all just thought was for fun.

In Help Wanted Two, the prize claw machine, Freddy's Cupcake Bonanza, the background of it is literally a poster of Fall Fest. It has many of the main characters singing on stage. I really excepted him to mention that but he didnt?
Traditionally (notably Shakespeare), the Jester/Fool is the comic relief but also the truth-teller - the only one who speaks truth when nobody else dares. I definitely get that vibe from Eclipse.
The clown is also the one that basically ALWAYS dies in order to provide that comedic relief

And historically, the jester was the only one who the monarch trusted to tell them what was going on, hence why every royal court had a jester. You needed someone there to basically be able to get information out of potential secessionists during massive political meetings

if henry was the one who made the costumes into animatronics it would also make sense he was the one who did all the electronics in the circus, thus if it all malfunctioned and went up in flames, william afton would be mad at henry, because he did all the electronics and that malfunctioned, so it would lead up to him killing charlie, as revenge for henry ruining the circus

Theory: What if the mimic was meant to lure Cassidy (Golden Freddy/ Princess) down instead of Cassie? It could explain why it uses Gregory’s voice, IF Gregory is a robotic CC (and if CC and Cassidy were both in Golden Freddy) than it would make sense to use his voice to lure the princess back.
It’s not a bad theory if cc and Cassidy were more connected because the mimic wouldn’t know that they are dead but I feel that cc and Cassidy aren’t connected enough for the mimic to bring Cassidy because cc is equal to Gregory

Nah, I think this just means we REALLY should of caught on something to the circus themeing awhile ago, but for some reason didn't really pay much attention to it or things didn't really click so well until now, maybe cause of writing issues involving this franchise *cough cough* Scott *cough*. That and maybe design issues too, while Balloon Boy did give off a sort of circus vibe while he first appeared, he didn't really gave that much to it otherwise and there was nothing else he offered either to help with developing a circus theory to FNAF. Sister Location was more of a heavy hitter however to circus theory, but once again- I guess there was issues there too on making things less obvious.

One extra element: Bellora. If the ‘83 fire killed or injured Mrs Afton, that could explain her absence and add another scoop of resentment onto Henry. The Mimic was likely one of, if not the first, animatronics. It’s ability to fit into other costumes make it an alternative to the spring locks. Instead of an animatronic that doubles as a mascot costume, it’s an animatronic that can wear any mascot costume. But the mimic was so dangerous, that springlock death traps were preferable.
Hopefully you can explain this but what is the reason Afton wants to be immortal? I understand why the franchise of Freddy Faz Bear wants to continue but not why Afton does. Does he want to do more experiments on remnant?

But MatPat did propose the theory that Mrs Afton is the current CEO of Fazbear Entertainment, which explains her absence. All of the events of Security Breach were efforts to bring back the family together.

Another thing that supports the Mimic having been around since the circus days is that, in the books at least, we know that Edwin invented it WHILE working on converting the mascot costumes into animatronics and that Fazbear Entertainment acquired it alongside everything else when he abandoned it. That means it definitely existed by 1979 when the diner first opened and would have had four years where it was in service at the circus/Fall Fest

So... The Circus, William Afton Owner, costumes mainly, Henry Emily came to place, The Mimic created for Expansion. FredBears Family Dinner, The Main four along the Yellow Rabbit and Yellow Bear. Fnaf 4 - Springbonnie Fnaf 2 , Create something more relating to its origins, Circus Theme, Fun and Friendly Pizzeria, using the old main 4 animatronics for spare parts Old SpringBonnie Fnaf 1 Pizzeria- The Main 4 were remade, upgraded. Springtrap Fnaf 3 - Scary Spooky Place lol, burns down and so on... theres sister location and the rest of the games but too much for my brain lol.
I am so curious where the 'dark circus' from FNAF AR fits into all this - I would love for Tom to look deeper into that and connect it to this theory. Especially because that AR DLC contained Ringleader Foxy and Ballora which are obviously circus themed and makes sense, but also Golden Freddy as the final boss.... Tom's theory is that the mimic saw Afton perform in the handstitched glitch trap suit at the circus, maybe Henry also performed in a Fredbear equivalent and that is that is why Golden Freddy was in the 'dark circus' AR dlc?
when you think about it Mat was basically always working when you think about how often the channels upload and the fact he was hosting every single one. on top of that having to help was lots of behind the scenes things i have so much respect for Mat lasting this long

Was kinda hoping that Marionette would be mentioned since she also fits the circus theme. I mean she has stripes, buttons which both are on many clown costumes. Also white face, pink lips and cheeks along with eye makeup. Seems fairly circus-y to me. I also noticed that there were a few mentions to marionette/puppet related things in some of the mini games.

they really do, and not to mention that in pizzeria sim, the security puppet that you can buy has a tentacle thing coming out of their head with a gold ball or bell on it that has a resemblance to a jester hat.
@mehkiyahmaynard3567 there's also the fact that a Jester's hat was initially made as a parody of the King's crown with it's 3 points, and the Jester was also usually the most trusted person in a King's Court, so the Security Puppet having a more jester themed design could represent the fact that Henry (co-creator Fazbear and therefore a "king" of sorts) made a Jester character to protect his daughter specifically (or as some fathers call their daughters, his little princess, if you will) It might be a bit far fetched, but I think it's a neat theory ^^;

Someone in the comments probably already said this, but doesn't Ennard's mask make a lot more sense now with all this circus themed lore dropping down from everywhere? I mean, a clown mask out of nowhere, of an unknown character was placed right in front of the sister location's protagonist's view in a very special spot, like some kind of memento. Is it just my impression? It may be that that mask hold a very important significance we have yet to see in a Circus Prequel. But hey, it's just a theory. fun fact: if you go into the files of FNAF: Security Breach Ruin DLC, there is an area at the end that has a message between developers which says "here something cool that maybe foreshadows the carnival (jTOPS thoughts pending)" jtop is a steel wool worker. And they refer to a carnival as "THE carnival" everything is too obvious, there are clues everywhere, I'm going crazy.

They weren't though- the only things we had to circus themeing was in FNAF 2 literally just Balloon Boy and the carousel- even then- small carousel versions are still found in real life Chuck E. Cheeses and former animatronic pizza restaurants that inspired this franchise.

I feel like this is the exact missing piece we’ve been searching/waiting for since FNAF 2 and especially FNAF 4! This even ties up the Nightmare BB being cannon or whatever from the DLC

You had me at the assumption that the mimic was made so Afton could perform in two places at once. It would explain so much! Especially why it would mimic Afton in the recent games.
It does explain why it was there.
But this could then create a question - did the Mimic set the fire that burned down the circus. Because if it did, that could explain Afton taking it apart as well, and potentially it witnessing his very first break.
@@fallen_star2319 I think the mimic was actually a victim of the fire. The Carney. The Carney most likely became Lefty later on because we see how Carney and Lefty are in the same stance when looking at them in the gallery of Help Wanted 2. Lefty was created by Henry Emily to capture the Puppet, which required making Lefty somewhat hollow in order to accommodate the puppet and allow it to move, so Henry would have had to remove the endoskeleton in order to do so, which probably would have been very burnt up because of the fire. Carney was able to respond to how well you did during the shooting gallery, so it already had some form of AI back then, so then the question becomes did Henry Emily boost it's AI after removing it to make it become the Mimic, or was the Mimic possibly possessed by Remnant because of the fire and wants revenge on those that left it to burn?
@keithshaughnessy1730 Ooh, OR. The mimic wants to become more human to try and impress its "parents", Henry and William. And as it learns and grows, it becomes more twisted as a result of the Remnant it has absorbed
@fallen_star2319 it could also be a revenge story in the Mimic's eyes. Fallfest is burning and Carney needs help but sees all the humans running away not caring, the only human that seems to try and help the animatronics is one of his creators, William Afton. Then Carney ends up in the basement of a pizzeria being taken apart by his other creator, Henry Emily, with the intention of turning his "body" into a capturing device... in the eyes of the Mimic, the humans don't care about animatronic lives, except for Afton, which is why he wants to be like him and get rid of the humans. The Mimic is basically the T-0001 to Afton's Skynet

Is Scott like the Benjamin Button of plotting? Nothing made before writing, but he connects it all retroactively? Like, there's no way he planned for a circus beginning when he made balloon boy in fnaf2, right?
It makes sense especially if they started their characters and food at a circus carnival because a lot of restaurants start as food stalls at fairs, and once they get really popular they're able to expand and become full restaurants.
Tom did astounding on this 😭 im rlly happy matpat got who he did for the channels because yall are truly just as awesome as he is :)
I really appreciate that he is keeping the same animations, and styles that were unique to Mat pat's edits, such as his cut out person occasionally making an appearance.

11:09 - Although I think that the Funtime Foxy theory can be a valid stand-in for the carousel mount, I think Mangle would've been a better option. Mainly because Mangle has the same design - rosy cheeks, white and pink color scheme, the pink snout (if not a bit mangled if you will) and they were confirmed to have been a part of toy animatronics before children tore it up beyond repair. Funtime Foxy may have been an inspiration from Mangle for Afton to keep it within the Funtime Animatronics since the original design blended in with the rest of the Funtime Animatronics. Just a thought.
Yeah, it would also fit with the fact that he referenced the toy animatronics as being inspired by the circus group

I feel like mangle is funtime foxy but just as it says at some point (I don't remember exactly when, it's been a while since I've seen stuff about it) "the kids came in and rearranged it to the point where it was unrecognizable, and nobody bothered to fix it." If what he says about funtime foxy being earlier in the timeline is right, then your right about it being mangle too.

"Fredbear" Hearing a voice other than Matpat made me feel the opposite of nostalgia. Like "here's to a new era". I love the new Theorists but i still havent quite got over the loss of the one that started it all. Great video though. Cant wait for more!

Hearing the name Fredbear is so strange. I always forget the feeling of nostalgia and dread that the original games caused me. That makes me remember how i felt while playing them

Hi, I know I'm late, But I wanted to Kinda mention something at like around 20:12 in it In FNAF 4, the starting screen/ main menu, is also known to have a red sky. one of the only times we actually see it in the games (I think) and it kinda shows trees there too. that might just make sense why the animatronics in that game seem so..well, burnt and damaged..and it would also kinda make sense that if the dad had a recently burnt down circus, then it would show up around the game based around when it happened.. but thats just my guess
Actually, considering how that ad for a fall fest is for 1970, it also implies the circus itself was around at least since the 1960s. There's nothing to say it's an ad for the first fall fest either, just the one in "current year" as it were. Most fascinating to think about...

I love how Tom watched MatPat fall directly into madness by hosting the FNAF Theories, and then immediately threw himself down the FNAF pit too. I think we all knew Tom couldn't stay away from the animal robot games too long. My personal theory is that the Theorist jacket has some sort of supernatural power, like the Green Goblin's mask. No matter what creepy entity is pushing Tom back to the Freddyverse, I'm personally glad it's happening! Viva La Fazbear!
Another notable detail to reinforce the idea Circus Baby’s characters were from Fall Fest, AR’s circus dlc which looks like a place that would be at a fall fest type area like a haunted house has 3 bosses you fight. Ringleader Foxy, Great Escape Golden Freddy, and Ballora. Ballora has no skin and is base SL Ballora, implying that she belongs here and by extension, Circus Baby.

Mini-theory: You talked about the three costumes present in the RUIN DLC, and that the lion was not actually in the game, just in the files. What if, then, that lion costume was elsewhere? You talked about how Edwin in "The Mimic" would take costumes and make them robots. What if the three costumes in RUIN were renavated somehow? Turned into springlock suits? If that were the case, then maybe that missing lion suit isn't missing at all, and it is just in the Sister Location bunker, the one you hid in on Night 4. Circus Baby did say it was from an old location of hers. This was a great theory btw. I thought it was really solid and I really enjoyed it. Next, we need a theory explaining why Pan Stan isn't in Ultimate Custom Night. I honestly feel like there has to be a reason; why would William Afton not have seen that animatronic? I am not so sure.

Except the Lion costume is actually there as part of the amalgamation of costumes the Mimic gets scooped in, you just can't find the actual one as a standalone costume in game (though technically the same is true of the other two since you have to clip through things to see them in the locker rooms due to the Mimic chase not allowing you to explore much in there normally.)
also glitchtrap is said to not be a real suit ever in one of the books, though maybe something rather close was the real suit and the mimic's new data mashed with it's old memories of the circus spewed it out

That is a pretty MASSIVE theory. I found it funny detecting the trend when you said that Sun and Moon felt out of place. That is also a MASSIVE circus with a hefty amount of characters. Why would they need so many? Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Mangle (but not mangled), Baby, Balloon Boy, Gold Freddy, Gold Bonnie, Sun / Moon, etc. That is 10 characters, and that's not even including minor ones from sister location! Why would they need that many? Also, did you just adopt one of FuhNaff's theories about the Mimic being delivered without question?

William and Henry maybe worked at Fall Fest, Henry made the suits and William performed in them, probably multiple characters. So those suits of a Lion, Crow, and Elephant could have been William's characters. Then William came up with the idea of the Mimic and helped Henry make it, which is how he got more knowledge on animatronics so he could build Circus Baby's Pizza World for Elizabeth and the Fazbear Franchise years later, all as a call back to his early days working at a circus to probably earn some extra money.
What I like about this theory is that it addresses the issue we've mostly been trying to overlook since Help Wanted 1: the claim that the first eight games (including FNaF world) are canonically in-universe games created by a game developer to make light of some real murders that actually happened. If the Mimic is imitating the William Afton it saw in those games, then it's acting as though those games DID really happen, thus its behavior is modeled after the same villain we theorized about before Help Wanted even though what actually happened didn't quite go down that way. We know that murders DID happen, but the games are established to be not QUITE canon to this new timeline we entered with Help Wanted (hence references to Sister Location's non-canon ending that I saw someone point out makes no sense a while back), but if the Mimic doesn't know that, then suddenly, things fit. This is the best FNaF theory I've seen - from anyone - in a while. Well wrought, sir!

I have a question about Circus Baby. In Sister Location, Elizabeth asks William “Didn’t you make her just for me?” implying that Afton made Circus Baby using Elizabeth as a inspiration. So how could they have been at Fall Fest when they were inspired by Elizabeth?
You can be inspired by multiple things. Also, that would make it William calling Elizabeth a clown. The hair style is probably from Elizabeth, the clown aspect is from the circus.
He made Baby just FOR her. That doesn't mean he made it BASED on her.

I got so hooked on this theory video, that I was wished it lasted an hour! 🤩😂 It’s amazing to see that there was a whole chunk of the timeline before the games as a (carnival?) and to see all the loose ends get tied into the timeline!
The thing with Funtime foxy being the oldest makes sense because in the game his voice definitely sounds older than the rest and he is shown as a ringmaster
The thing is- the ringmaster motif I don't think only goes to Funtime Foxy perspectively, but someone else in the comments pointed out how in Security Breach with the staff bots dressing up as the Afton Family, that the one supposedly being William is apparently dressed as in ringmaster attire. That and if you pay attention to Freddy Fazbear and his other versions, including Fredbear, In their designs also hold some ringmaster imagery in with their clothing with the bowtie and tophat as well. So it's more interesting that Funtime Foxy more has a ringmaster voice assigned to him than really shown having that role exactly especially if it's not seen with interacting with others.
Oh yeah also forgot to mention- Foxy also has a dark ringmaster skin/costume belonging to an event named the Dark Circus in FNAF AR. Interesting how the ringmaster subject keeps being brought up, in not only one- but several characters.

Yesterday, I was eating some dino nuggies, fries and shrimp when one fried shrimp was right by another and I turned another upside down when it looked just like a 6 and a 9, I basically made a shrimp 69! I kind of think it means that the Mimic is the Carney's endoskeleton. I mean what other animatronic do we know that existed at Fall Fest that isn't in commission later. Carney's exterior most likely became Lefty's exterior, with the interior being redesigned to capture the puppet, so what happened to the original interior?
to add on that, what if the Mimic (Carney) was created because Henry left? There's gotta be a bear to a rabbit, innit?
Also Carney very clearly has observation skills and ability to come up with funny lines to those observations, which is also very curious and we havent saw anything like this anywhere yet

@wasntdeleted the Carney even reacts to being on fire. I recall other animatronics trying to escape fire but I don't recall any of them acting as if they feel it. So either the Carney had advanced enough AI to respond to that, his programming had enough foresight to include an "On fire" routine, or he was actually a human in a suit during the real event, died, and became a remnant ghost. Unfortunately with this franchise all of those options are possible. Lol

Something that MatPat pointed out once, but I think needs to be pointed out more, is if you look at these games/franchise in a macro view, they aren't set in our reality. I know that's like a "no duh" statement, but it's more like these game take place in a world/reality where technology is more advanced earlier then in real life. So something like the Mimic being around in the late 70s/early 80s makes sense in the context of the FNAF Universe, even though it wouldn't irl.
Yep, like i see some theorists go like "This is too early" But remember that how long and how far William and Henry research in robotics truly went, like Henry got a face recognition in the 80 was a big sign that we often overlooked but this kinda proved that FNAF technological advancement is more advanced than we thought

Whew finished every single video about fnaf which was 102 ONE HUNDRED AND TWO
I’m not completely on board with an advanced AI being made in the late 1960’s for a circus, but I do find it interesting. Same with Mimic being Glitchtrap too. The circus being Afton’s first location and then losing that along with his son and Fredbears does seem like it would fit well for him. Same with clown designs influencing some of the animatronics. All the clown stuff in SL would fit down there too, since it’s supposedly all of William’s passion projects. The Marionette/Security Puppet also has red checks too. But all of this brings me to a very important question. Where was all of this stuff stored? The Puppet was chilling in some sort of storage area along with all these old suits, parts, blue prints, designs, etc. for like 36 years. Did she know the Mimic? Also, maybe instead of William seeing the Fredbear Singing show as a kid, he saw the picture in one of those circus book and then took the book for inspiration.
