Those risers seem like a good idea if you plan on doing something like clamping a racing wheel to it. Just a plank on top a desk is sketchy with enough force feedback.

No. Don’t tighten it to tight. Should be fine. I have a 34 inch Alienware oled monitor mounted on my Lagkapten and I have no issues, and it’s lighter materials then this countertop , if anything just use a reinforcement when clamping something to the desk, Amazon has nice steel brackets you can use to balance out the weight and they come in bigger and smaller sizes. I bought a steel one which has a top and bottom piece to hold my monitor mount on and I have had no issues. And the monitor is much heavier than a mic arm
