Kip, Vergil is so valuable in high level marvel, he's been a part of every evo winning team since launch in 2013 iirc. Put him, Morrigan, and Doom in the hands of a high level player and watch the bodies stack.

From what I know, Vergil is a top tier character because even at his worst he's A tier. He has SO many options on how to win an exchange, plus his Yamato deletes all projectiles

I would recommend Lythero for a future video. Him and his Shenanigoons are sorta like Badger, but slightly more focused. They're a kinda tipsy driver swerving down the highway to Badger's passed out after crashing into a concrete wall at 100+ mph.

Yeah, Vergil is just that broken, it's because he's a quick fighter, so setting him up with the X-Factor just makes him even more broken, cause it amplifies his speed. There's videos of people having Vergil as the last fighter when the other two have been knocked out, and Vergil is a huge clutch when you know what you're doing. He's literally like his Devil May Cry counterpart, overpowered as hell, but fun to play as.
Yeah, Xuses' Vergil video is a great example of it.

@@Zaranius I’m laughing here at this because in the gacha focused mobile game megaman xDive there was a Devil May Cry promotional event and zero’s and X’ colors ended up swapped because X got the Dante skin and Zero got the Virgil skin. So in a sense that team up is Virgil Dante and robot Virgil
I've said this when Renegades React did a reaction of this, I will say it again here; Not enough people do reactions of Lythero's edited stream videos he posted on his channel, they are drug free, but are still absolutely hilarious to watch, his sponsorship reel has similar energy to Internet Historian and TheRussianBadger here.

It's a good thing that they never added Nero otherwise they'd have to make him the "Saitama" of the game. If you pick him there's just a timer at the bottom. '30 seconds to Devil Trigger'. And if you have either Dante or Vergil out, the timer shaves 10 seconds. Y'know, gotta make it lore accurate.
Watching the whole week of streams leading up to the tournament was incredible, and the tournament itself was nonstop action! Also, Lythero WILL be back in the next Badger vid. It's R6: Siege and he was nailing peeks and wallbangs along with the rest of the crew in the recording streams.
I love watching Lythero and Garys’s content, it’s just good old shenanigans. Lytheros videos are definitely worth watch, and Gary is in almost every single one.

I'm seriously impressed by Badger's visible improvement from this video and his last, those scene transitions at 0:57 (sorry for the possible grouse jumpscare) overstimmed my ADHD but I still managed to understand what's happening. It's a hood classic in the making

I highly recommend Lythero’s vids. Yeah, there’s lots of fighting game stuff but he has more than that for variety purposes and it’s all HILARIOUS. From Mario Kart, to Smash Bros, to Dragonball FighterZ, and all the way to now with him hanging out with Badger. Him and his friend group is considered “The Shenanigoonz”. This same man has gathered the attention of multiple animators even though he was an editor himself in the past plus….PET BUNNIES!
This video makes the _perfect_ excuse to recommend Lythero's videos! Starting with the Dragonball FighterZ Lobby Shenanigans, they're all hilarious and the editing only gets better over time. As it turns out, watching a bunch of pros fuck around in a lobby is pretty fun.
To explain fighting game inputs, imagine that you're using an analog stick whose directions corresponds to a phone number set-up. 5 is in the middle, 1 in the bottom left and 9 in the upper right. A quarter circle motion is usually either 2-3-6 or 2-1-4. A "dragon punch" motion is 6-2-3. Vergil is Number 1 character, SS tier alongside Brawl Meta Knight. He has complete control over the game and is only held back by a low health pool. His sword range is crazy, he has powerful Supers, and he has long range attacks that eat almost anything. He also is one of the few characters with a Level 5. So there are Level 1 Supers and most characters have a Level 3 Super. In an attempt to balance Vergil, UmvC3 locks Vergil's Level 3 Super behind his Level 1 transformation Super, meaning it costs 4 bars to use. However, the transformation also makes Vergil stronger and faster, which can be combined with X-Factor, and thus makes his combos even more deadly before finishing it off with his Level 3. Except Vergil can then land another hit after his Level 3 that will combo into his Level 1, which amounts to Vergil having a Level 5 Super. Edit: if you want full context on the Hawkeye vs Vergil joke, Hawkeye is a keep away character whose favorite move is to randomly Level 1 Super which hits practically instantly, something dangerous to characters on low health and thus quite dangerous against the low health Vergil. So who wins that fight is entirely dependent on who gets the most random touches that gets converted into killing blows.
Lythero is one of the best fighting game youtubers, highly recommend, imagine if you combined Max0r and Russian Badger, with a lot more impressions.

I'm surprised he didn't talk sbout the little "war" he was having with Shylily about the selling of their flavors. Seeing them interact with each other trying to negotiate as to who gets how much money off of their flavor more and whose flavor's sellings stays on top is surely something you'd say "I need this" Kip. Lythero's "Lobby Shenanigans" videos for "Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom" and "Dragon Ball FighterZ" are worth a watch, especially the latter if you want to see how cracked of an Android 16 player Lythero is.
Talking about veteran players teaching new players just makes me think of deep rock and how much everyone loves teaching new players
Quarter circles are for moves like the Hadouken. Those plus half circles and dragon punches are the most common fighting game input movements and thus, should be practiced the most by beginners.

bro i went to combobreaker (midwest regional tournament for fighting games) and went 0-2 got completely blasted by my opponents but after they were the coolest dudes i've talked to in gaming communities they were giving me advice they were like don't worry everyone goes 0-2 in their first major tournament and were just super supportive and it made me want to come back even though i got my ass beat in the first day, moral of the story is people who take fighting games seriously are pretty chill irl and always willing to give you advice

I posted this on Badger's video too but I might as well post it here. I had tons of trouble for years with Z inputs because no one would explain it properly. It's just forward, quarter circle forward. Ignore whatever the "actual" input is in the move list.

The Foot Dive bit reminds me of the parody fighting game Divekick from 2013. Every attack was just spamming divekicks and the definitely had a character that parodied Dr Doom’s foot dive.

I actually know who Lythero is because of his F-Zero streams. I love his F-Zero stuff (mostly because it's my favorite racing game franchise and the series gets so little love) but he seems like a super cool guy overall.

35:31 the move is called Starfall and it's really valuable because its pretty unique. Most characters in UMVC3 have a an aerial ender that is vertical, such as Dante with his Helm breaker and Haggar with the metal pipe. Vergil, however, has BOTH Starfall and Helm Breaker which allows him to move forward at the endof air combos and have more potential for attack instead of just going straight down.
I used to play fighting games competitively unless I fractured my neck.. umvc3 always depresses me because it reminds me of how much dexterity I've lost /Edit/ Spencer has some shenanigans

Well, Vergil is the most versatile character in this game, he can be an offensive, defensive or support character (mostly Attack) His main weapon Yamato can destroy any kind of attack and his skill Summoned Sword can be both offense or defense tool (block attack and some Hyper Combo attack) The most dangerous thing about Vergil is Combo+ X Factor+ Devil Trigger. X Factor already buff your attack power and speed and Devil Trigger also buff your attack power and speed and make some attack easier to hit the enemy X Factor help you regain any red portion of your health bar and Devil Trigger literally heal Vergil's HP. You can say that Vergil is a all-grounder character
I do recommend watching animation compilations of Lythero.
I truly recommend watching Lythero's Lobby shenanigans and other videos he has, you don't need deep knowledge on the game or fighting games in general to understand and have fun watching it

i would like to point out that heavenly, as good as he is with vergil, wasn’t using his full potential. why? no summon swords no lunar phase no round trip no tricks no judgement cuts if you thing vergil was broken from what you see with heavenly, take a look at what other players can do with his whole moveset

I have literally been playing as Scorpion in Mortal Kombat since the first game and I still dominate to this day. Don't get me wrong, I still lose depending on my opponent... but, I'm pretty damn good at making it hard for anybody to win lol.

I would 100% recommend Lythero's videos to you, his Marcel v. Capcom and Dragon Ball Fighterz vids are ones I constantly go back to as background noise or when I'm having a rough day and just need a good laugh. Just a warning that some of the videos can be a bit on the long side, but they are definitely worth watching if you have the time.

If you like MCV3 and are more into anime, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is fairly similar mechanically. It has a similar comeback mechanic called resonance that gives you more and constantly regenerating meter (on top of certain characters having built-in comeback abilities), instakill finishers, and features characters from like 5 separate franchises including Persona, BlazBlue itself, Under Night, and RWBY. There is a very clear meta, but it's fun when you both players are on similar skill levels and they both aren't spamming beam or projectile attacks.

For context Vergil is to MvC3 and U:MvC3 as Meta Knight is to SSB:Brawl. Dude is borked as fuck to fight against, and if they're a pro player just put the controller down, walk to make dinner, eat it and come back that match was decided already.
Lythero and his Lobby Shenanigans in MVC3 and then later playing with DBFZ with his friends and the Shenanigoons is a great fighting game content creator. He also had a recent video with Maximillian Dood (another big name in the FGC) as a guest and its great. He is definitely worth checking out.
Just curious for the people part of the fighting game community how odd is it seeing people outside the community talking about how hard the mechanics are and there pretty much fused into your muscle memory?
it's alright if you're not good at fighting games, just pick a character and have fun mashing buttons getting good can come later this is from someone that started fighting games like in 2010 with 0 experience back then and I turned out okay. The biggest obstacles tend to be the players rather than the game mechanics tho. Fighting games at this point had been streamlined enough where they dont ask you the moon in terms of execution except for a few characters here and there
It definitely seems like it's an easier barrier to entry. I know my own personal experience has been the vocal minority of problematic players being the loudest, so the players issue tracks.

Wesker is perfectly fine in UMvC3. Solid A tier. Not as good as he was in vanilla Marvel 3 (pre-Ultimate) but still solid. You can run him and Vergil (might be a bit meter starved tho because both of them are kinda meter hungry, especially Vergil). Honestly you can cook with any character in this game (even Hsien-Ko) it's just easier with characters like Vergil or Phoenix.

I will stick to what I know and that is Budokai 3. I tried FighterZ and it’s too Street Fighter like for me to understand those dam circle motions for attacks. Also I love the constant after image fake outs & the 2.5 D arenas in Budokai 1, 2, & 3.

I'm not really in to the whole fighting game thing (except watching some), but from what I've heard Vergil is the second most powerful character in this game. Only Zero (from MegaMan) is higher.
Actually, it’s backwards. As a matter of fact, I believe it goes Vergil at the top, Dante comes second and Zero comes afterwards in the Capcom side.

Kip, Umvc3 is on Xbox and at least PS4 (can't confirm if PS5) and I'm about 90% sure it's on PC too, but I don't use Pc so I can't confirm. Download the game. It's pretty cheap right now for like the next week or so. It's pretty punishing for a new player, but once you play for a few days, you'll get used to it. My advice: turn off simple controls, and start with playing Capitan capitalism or angy Canadian man. They're great beginner characters. Don't ask me for more advice. I just downloaded the game today. To be fair, whilst I enjoy beans in my chili, traditionally it does not contain them.
I agree with your mod, beans in chili is as much of a disappointment for me as raisin cookies that look like chocolate chip.
Vergil is top tier but when his on X-factor level 3 he becomes busted makes his almost impossible to block and kills you in seconds. The only other characters that is as busted as Vergil in level 3 X-factor is Dark Phoenix (Jean Gray X-men) but you need some set up to get her there and also arguable Phoenix Wright (ace detective) but again you also need a set up to get him there.
