Objectives:
1. Learn cardiac anatomy using ultrasound.
2. Learn the basic views and their common uses.
3. Learn how to assess gross systolic LV function.
4. Learn how to differentiate pleural from pericardial effusion.
5. Learn how to assess for right ventricular strain.
6. Learn how to use Color Doppler to assess cardiac hemodynamics.

  • Awesome video. Im a medical lab scientist student and had 6 weeks of choice free clinicals and 4 days out of those 6 weeks i get to sit with someone who does TTE and he lets me do a lot, this video was very helpful, coming from a student who doesnt know hardly anything about it

  • Just wondering you said the indicator dot on the tranducer in the apical views is facing up, I thought it faces down?

    • In apical, indicator dot is pointed to the patient’s right if the screen dot is on the left. Indicator dot should be pointed to the left if the screen dot is on the right. It is the same image on the screen, but different conventions. Hope that helps!

  • Why use a linear (vascular) probe in your video? Adult and Pediatric Echo is done with a sector probe. Fetal Echo is done with a curved linear probe. Otherwise nice video.

    • I only used the linear probe briefly to demonstrate transducer movement. In the rest of the video, a phased array transducer is used.

    • @@a3jm ultrasound was what told them I had a 12 cm tumor on my ovary. Further tests and surgery, chemo, radiation for stage one cancer. I'm cancer free 6 years later.
