WHEN THE WATERS TURN AGAINST YOU! Haulover Inlet Fails | Boat Zone

Haulover Inlet in Florida is a popular spot for experienced boaters seeking a thrill. Known for its challenging conditions and strong currents, the inlet connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway and is famous for its rough waves and strong winds, which can make boating hazardous. Despite the risks, many boaters are drawn to the inlet's challenging conditions and the opportunity to navigate through it.

  • Parents should be charged for no life jackets for their children and infant baby. The boat captain should also be charged and held responsible for the people in his care. These waves are brutal for a babies spine and neck. Reckless endangerment and stupidity!

    • Loose term calling him a "captain "....i would imagine there are stringent measures in place before you reach that status

    • It's a Florida thing. My 46' has little problems punching through. But my bigger boats fly over with little problems. My 59' cigarette tartano has 2700 hp. Though classified as a luxury yacht, cigarette and my family actually designed the 6 Mercury engines 450hp each totaling 2700hp , we have pulled some folks out of the water and towed some in. I agree with those vests though. Welcome to Florida laws.

  • Why, with Haulover's well-documented tendency to cause boats to bury their bows, do boat owners still place people (ie, 'weight') forward of the cockpit - effectively contributing to the problem, and then act surprised when their vessels (And bow passengers) get caught by incoming waves? It seems to be a strange situation.

    @keithrimmer1623@keithrimmer1623Ай бұрын
    • Agreed. Save the bow riding for calmer seas. I personally no longer allow anyone on the bow when I encounter heavy chop. Learned that lesson on Lake of the Ozarks during a busy weekend in the Summer. Buried the nose of our tri-toon. Little too much weight in the front. After that, only took out smaller groups on the weekends.

  • As I read the comments, California is any child 13 and under. Rest of us, Florida also, kids under 6 when in anything smaller than 26' long AND moving. These videos of this inlet are popular but if you've never been, everyone gathers to watch the show. I own go fast to big boats that can make this look smooth but it is more of an attraction and the videos make it look a bit more. Otherwise this famous inlet would be closed. My girls always wore fitted proper vests but like I said, this inlet is famous for the wish wash. But if you love bigger than lake boats then you'll feel like your on a standard roller coaster.

It's funny they wanted to jump off the boat and run for the beach in the end to save themselves. I hope no serious neck/back injuries for the kids (it could have been worse if they went overboard. ) as the father of 5 was able to hang on to his green cup in hand until the end.
