On a fall night in 2003, Harvard undergrad and computer programming genius Mark Zuckerberg sits down at his computer and heatedly begins working on a new idea. In a fury of blogging and programming, what begins in his dorm room soon becomes a global social network and a revolution in communication. A mere six years and 500 million friends later, Mark Zuckerberg is the youngest billionaire in history... but for this entrepreneur, success leads to both personal and legal complications.

  • I still can't believe Garfield was not EVEN nominated for an Oscar that year.

  • It is absolutely amazing the editing that is done to transform the image out of the camera. Color grading is an art on its own.

    • So refreshing to see a director not rely on the typical teal/orange colors, or the now LogC styled low saturation images. It seems in any one scene, David Fincher prefers two subtle variations on lighting color. The practical lights are very, very warm while the characters are lit with day-light balanced movie lights (which the camera's white balance it set to) so you have natural skin tones but a deep-orange practical behind them. And then of course, the colorist can do their color grading to push things further. EDIT: At 3:03 you can see what I mean. The movie lights (aka the lights used to illuminate the scene, that aren't visible on camera) are daylight balanced (very white) while the practical light (the light that is part of the set... a light on his computer desk or above the bed behind him) are very warm. The colorist can then grade the image to make it the overall image even more warm (while PROBABLY isolating skin tones to work with that separately to keep them somewhat natural looking.)

  • I was an extra on this for three days at a mansion in Beverly Hills where they filmed them after losing the canoe race. David Fincher is a master. Never have I worked as a background actor on a movie that took 24 shots per take. I didn’t mind it and I loved watching the making of this movie

  • I wish more films released footage like this. I'm not even an actor (more a wannabe director) but I think it's fascinating to watch all the different takes they shoot.

  • who needs Film school, just watch this stuff and learn how to direct and block a scene, and work with crew and actors.

    @raymondleggs5508@raymondleggs550810 жыл бұрын
    • yeah well, you don´t need film school, but it´s not that simple, you have to devote to study books, films and commentaries, practice everyday, have that burning feeling, learn by trial and error, and yeah persevere, persevere a lot like Kubrick did.

    • Raymond Leggs Film school i feel is a good option for a lot of people, cause the reality is too many people just say they'll "teach themselves" or something and its usually bullshit. I know a lot of people that could be talented film people but they never devoted themselves to learning. Film school (while fucked up in many ways) provides a space for people 2 immerse themselves and really get shit going with other devoted people and good cameras etc etc. I know this is long but I think it should be said.

    • Working with actors is the toughest part. You can't just say "Be angry" or "Be sad" you have to give them reasons to feel those emotions in specific ways, plus give them room to experiment. Knowing a little about each section of your crew is helpful, although you shouldn't micro manage people or what they are doing. As long as they are meeting your vision then it's fine. The rest is subjective.
