Ich bin in Dortmund geboren und aufgewachsen. Dieses Spiel am 3.7.1974 werde ich nie vergessen. Das erstemal war ich ich im neuen Westfalenstadion. Damals war ich 20. Als grosser Borussia Dortmund Anhänger habe ich seitdem ca. 1000 Spiele in diesem Fussballtempel gesehen. Aber dieses WM-Spiel war das allererste. Eine schöne Erinnerung für immer.

Varios jugadores de Holanda deberian haber sido expulsados, o al menos el juez debio repartir un monton de tarjetas. No han cambiado mucho cuando juegan con otros cuadros hoy dia. Muchos de sus jugadores son malintencionados y sucios.

The rough play here has nothing to do with their self-proclaimed 'total football.' The intent was to cancel the opponent by any means while playing counter football.

Да , тот чемпионат Мира 1974 - открытие ,,тотального" футбола : все в атаке - все в обороне ! Жаль , очень жаль , что ,,летучие голландцы" не стали чемпионами Мира .... и , как -будто до сих пор (уже 2023 год) над сборной Голландии висит какое-то ,,проклятие" . Ну никак не могут выиграть Чемпионаты Мира . До финалов добираются , а далее ,,аллес" , проигрыш.На следующий год будет 50_лет ! После великолепного 1974 . The rules were too relaxed and players had very little protection from the refs Today's football is faster yes, but it has lost the skill levels the players used to have. Notable partido (pese a la dureza) en un gran Mundial. Lo vi y lo disfruté en directo por TV, siendo adolescente. Creo que ambas selecciones entraron a "ablandarse" mutuamente. Se tenían mucho respeto y primero eligieron el camino de la pierna fuerte, después empezaron a jugar. El Scratch, que tenía tremendos jugadores (empezando por Rivelino y Jairzinho), pudo abrir el marcador, pero de jugar a jugar, fue sorprendido y finalmente sobrepasado por el fútbol veloz, técnico y efectivo de la "Naranja Mecánica" (la verdadera), con Cruyff como director de orquesta.

Por lo que se pudo ver en este resumen, Brasil fue muy perjudicado por el arbitraje. Un par de posiciones adelantadas insolitas, en donde los brasileños quedaban mano a mano frente al arquero rival, y un penalazo tremendo que omite el juez. Tremendo.

Acho que a seleção brasileira até perdeu a cabeça e caiu na catimba holandesa , e ai até perdeu um jogador por expulsão. Parece que a seleção holandesa era muito determinada na marcação , só que vi alguns vídeos que parece que eles não tinham disciplina tática, marcavam desordenamente , mandavam um batalhão pra tomar a bola de um jogador com a bola , e outros ficavam desmarcados .

I'm Dutch myself, but I don't agree with you; I think you're not giving credit enough to your own German squad at the time. Years ago, right before the 2006 World Cup was held in Germany, ZDF repeated the three World Cup Finals Germany had won at the time. I recorded the 1974 final and it was the first time I saw it in full. And what I noticed was that the German team was way better than I expected. They too played attacking football in a 4-3-3 formation with wingers whereas the Dutch never got to play in their usual dominant style. I think the penalty awarded to West-Germany was unjust as it was a Schwalbe, but I also think the penalty kick awarded to Netherlands in the very first minute wasn't correct either. Cruyff was fouled alright, but it was slightly outside the penalty box so it should have been a free kick. But even more importantly - and this is something rarely mentioned - in the second half, Gerd Müller scored another goal: the 3-1. It was disallowed for offside. But Müller wasn't offside at all. A Dutch defender was at least a meter behind him. The Dutch however had a brilliant trick in that tournament by being one of the first teams ever to play the offside-trick and it worked. The referees weren't used to it, so they sometimes gave offside when it wasn't. The German players and the crowds in the stadium didn't protest to disallowing that goal for offside either. But the fact is: Gerd Müller scored not one but two goals in that final and Germany should have won 3-1 instead of 2-1. Or 2-0 if you strike both unjust penalty kicks out. So as a Dutchman I would say to you: congratulations West-Germany for a deserved win in that final. The one we Dutch really should have won is 1978 against Argentina. And 2010 against Spain as well.

The defeat sent shockwaves for decades throuthout the Netherlands, Cruyff made them believe (like Trump) the the defeat was due to dark circumstances. The had defeated Brazil and other great teams so the ended up being arrogant which is never ever a good idea against any German team PLUS the early goal for Holland was good for us because it fired up the usual 'German willpower. Took the Netherlands a long time to come to terms with this. Thanks for your comment- I always liked the Dutch! and still do.

The Dutch offside trap only worked because linesmen and referees were hopelessly inept in making the right call. Belgium in the qualifying round for the world cup scored a legit goal that was disallowed. They deserved to go through instead of Holland. Germany scored a perfectly good goal that was disallowed because of offside and looking at 0:59, that pass to number 13 was not offside. Two Dutch defenders in the left field are between the attacker and the goal line. Then again at 1:47. In the moment the ball leaves the foot of Number 11 the Dutch defender is way behind the receiving player. Those were two perfect chances that would have changed to outcome of the game. That Dutch team had a LOT of help from the referees.

Cualquiera que ve el partido se da cuenta que no hubo baile. Holanda ganó por ensuciar el partido golpeando impunemente. Incluso no cobraron un penal por patada de karateka a Jairzinho dentro del área. Qué sucio jugaba Holanda cuando no podía ganar x las buenas. Al final Brasil entró al juego violento en vez de tocar la bola y Holanda pudo ganar más por golpes y contragolpes que por buen juego. Aunque Brasil juega normalmente con árbitros comprados que lo favorecen, en ese partido mereció mejor suerte y debió terminar en empate o tal vez ganando Brasil. Me decepcionó Holanda. Equipo muy sucio y violento cuando no puede ganar por la buenas.

In those days, football in South America was generally much more violent than in Europe and no such thing as a VAR. The Dutch squad however consisted almost completely of highly skilled and experienced top players from Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenood Rotterdam - the two teams who had won the Euro Cup 4 times in a row the previous years. Basically like Spain playing with only players from Barcelona and Real Madrid having won the Champions League four times in a row. That team knew what it takes at this level so if the Brazilians attacked one of them, they made very sure the Brazilians got one back. Brazil was the reigning champion, but the Dutch were at the time the better squad and absolutely deserved to win. This frustrated the Brazilians to no end which led to a lot of fouls. In the end, Brazil was defeated by a better opponent.

Típico jogo em que os Holandeses visivelmente pararam as principais peças do Brasil na pancada com conivência do árbitro do jogo que tb não deu um penalty claro para a seleção canarinha! Apos o primeiro gol da Holanda o Brasil se lançou pra frente e tomou outro no contra ataque! Aí começou a devolver as pancadas e teve o Luiz Pereira expulso! O empate, creio, seria o resultado mais justo!

Além da arbitragem ter ajudado bastante o time da "laranja mecânica" - o lance do primeiro gol anulado do Brasil, e de um chute do Zagueiro holandês no peito do jogador brasileiro... enfim. Disseram que o Brasil bateu muito neste jogo. Concordo, bateu. Mas esse time holandês não ficou atrás. Bateram do primeiro ao último minuto. Infelizmente o soprador de apito só mostrava cartão para os jogadores brasileiros. Aliás, a Holanda sempre protagonizou os jogos mais violentos em mundiais. Vide jogo contra Portugal em 2006. O mais violento de todas as copas.

Tenía yo 9 años y era el primer mundial que veía.Recuerdo bien,no obstante,estos partidos.Creo que fue el mejor mundial de la historia.Solo ya las magníficas selecciones de Alemania Federal,Holanda y la increíble Polonia dan fe del altísimo nivel que hubo en esta competición.

Ví jugar a muchos de estos jugadores cuando el Ajax eliminó al Madrid en la Copa de Europa de 1973. En 1974, aunque Holanda no tenía renombre histórico en los mundiales, se presentía que iban a hacer un mundialazo. Y así fue.

Those players were real men, strong, tough! Football really was war, as master coach Rinus Michels noted at the time. All these (often also dangerous) fouls and still only one red card! How different the game today is... easily 10 red cards would have been drawn. I really would like to see how players such as Messi, Neymar, Mbappé would hold up in such a 70's world cup game... Probably within 5 minutes they'd be carried of the pitch on a stretcher! 😁

What a fierce game! Grit and skills, so much better than today's games where players have no skills to play 1v1 and referee stops a game every time a players falls down. Lato, top scorer from that world cup, said Dutch team played tough but fair, it was always a good game against them.

@@schipbreukeling3 Well, that is tricky. A passive offside now is way more liberal than at that time indeed. However the rule that the player has to be ONSIDE at the MOMENT of the pass was there. But it was poorly enforced and when in doubt the referee would favor the defense most of the time.

The story will repeat against Germany in the final in which in the second half a regular goal of Muller will be disallowed and an uncuestionable penalty on Holzenbein was not given. Finally Holland partecipation has been consecuence of huge referee mistake in the final cualification game against Belgium which has scored regular goal at last minute. Belgium should have been in wM74 and not Holland

Foi um jogo de atitudes desleais e inconsequentes chegando ao nível de desleal nojento por parte dos jogadores holandeses. O Brasil foi prejudicado e roubado favorecendo a holanda. No minuto 83, Luiz Pereira que é da mesma cidade que eu, Juazeiro-BA foi expulso e tretou contra Cruyff mostrando as 3 estrelas de tricampeão da seleção brasileira e ele fazia parte daquela famosa academia do Palmeiras bicampeão brasileiro em 1972/1973.

No creo que hubiera cambiado tanto. Lo que pasa es que en México 70 se jugó en altitud, con temperaturas muy altas, la hierba de los campos también estaba muy alta y por eso el fútbol se jugó a un ritmo más lento. El fútbol ya era más rápido en 1970 de lo que parece en ese mundial. Ya en el mundial de 1966 se jugó a un ritmo más rápido que en el de 1970. Coja cualquier partido normal de esa época y lo verá.

@@luigiA.M. Você está enganado. Por ser estrangeiro e talvez muito novo não compreenda. Ele poderia jogar aquela copa, ainda tinha preparo físico e imensa qualidade. Ele não quis apesar de todos desejarem. Sempre foi um atleta acima de seu tempo. Se estivesse em campo todos morreriam de medo somente em vê-lo, bastaria uma estaca com uma camisa escrita Pelé, para os gringos ficarem pálidos. Mesmo aquela seleção que foi mal treinada conseguiu enfrentar durante boa parte do jogo a Holanda, perdendo dois gols incríveis. Mas a Holanda ganhou por méritos. Grande equipe holandesa e grande Johan Cruijff.

I always thought Brazil had two wrongly called offsides, but the first one was actually correct, it seems the other player heads the ball in the middle. The second one was not offside, but If you put it in slow motion and mark the time of the pass, it was not an easy call.

Eu era muito pequeno para entender esse jogo. Mas eu soube que o Brasil até tentou jogar, mas viu que não seria páreo. Então, começou a apelar para entradas mais duras e os holandeses resolveram revidar. Quando resolveram jogar, a Holanda nos despachou. Bem feito para a arrogância de Zagallo que dizia que o Brasil iria espremer a Laranja Mecânica.

Thanks God football have evolved. I remember that game. I was disappointed cz Brasil team even they did have some good players they were far away from the 70 wcup team. The game was physical and brutal. Luis Peirera great Player but completely lost his mind. The referee was drowned in this wilderness. Today at least 4 players will be red carded. The two goals of Neeskens and Cruijff were just the brights lights of the match.

Les géniaux artistes brésiliens perdus dans la pluie et le froid de la triste Allemagne face aux sales brutes hollandaises amenées par le médiocre Cruiff, petit joueur honteusement surcoté (qui fut ensuite invisible en finale). Si mon père ne m'avait pas retenu j'aurai cassé la télévision ce soir là ! Ich bin in Dortmund geboren und aufgewachsen. Dieses Spiel am 3.7.1974 werde ich nie vergessen. Das erstemal war ich ich im neuen Westfalenstadion. Damals war ich 20. Als grosser Borussia Dortmund Anhänger habe ich seitdem ca. 1000 Spiele in diesem Fussballtempel gesehen. Aber dieses WM-Spiel war das allererste. Eine schöne Erinnerung für immer.

I'm Dutch myself, but I don't agree with you; I think you're not giving credit enough to your own German squad at the time. Years ago, right before the 2006 World Cup was held in Germany, ZDF repeated the three World Cup Finals Germany had won at the time. I recorded the 1974 final and it was the first time I saw it in full. And what I noticed was that the German team was way better than I expected. They too played attacking football in a 4-3-3 formation with wingers whereas the Dutch never got to play in their usual dominant style. I think the penalty awarded to West-Germany was unjust as it was a Schwalbe, but I also think the penalty kick awarded to Netherlands in the very first minute wasn't correct either. Cruyff was fouled alright, but it was slightly outside the penalty box so it should have been a free kick. But even more importantly - and this is something rarely mentioned - in the second half, Gerd Müller scored another goal: the 3-1. It was disallowed for offside. But Müller wasn't offside at all. A Dutch defender was at least a meter behind him. The Dutch however had a brilliant trick in that tournament by being one of the first teams ever to play the offside-trick and it worked. The referees weren't used to it, so they sometimes gave offside when it wasn't. The German players and the crowds in the stadium didn't protest to disallowing that goal for offside either. But the fact is: Gerd Müller scored not one but two goals in that final and Germany should have won 3-1 instead of 2-1. Or 2-0 if you strike both unjust penalty kicks out. So as a Dutchman I would say to you: congratulations West-Germany for a deserved win in that final. The one we Dutch really should have won is 1978 against Argentina. And 2010 against Spain as well.

The defeat sent shockwaves for decades throuthout the Netherlands, Cruyff made them believe (like Trump) the the defeat was due to dark circumstances. The had defeated Brazil and other great teams so the ended up being arrogant which is never ever a good idea against any German team PLUS the early goal for Holland was good for us because it fired up the usual 'German willpower. Two Dutch defenders in the left field are between the attacker and the goal line. Then again at 1:47. In the moment the ball leaves the foot of Number 11 the Dutch defender is way behind the receiving player. Those were two perfect chances that would have changed to outcome of the game. That Dutch team had a LOT of help from the referees.

The Dutch squad however consisted almost completely of highly skilled and experienced top players from Ajax Amsterdam and Feyenood Rotterdam - the two teams who had won the Euro Cup 4 times in a row the previous years. Basically like Spain playing with only players from Barcelona and Real Madrid having won the Champions League four times in a row. That team knew what it takes at this level so if the Brazilians attacked one of them, they made very sure the Brazilians got one back. Brazil was the reigning champion, but the Dutch were at the time the better squad and absolutely deserved to win. This frustrated the Brazilians to no end which led to a lot of fouls. In the end, Brazil was defeated by a better opponent.

@@schipbreukeling3 Well, that is tricky. A passive offside now is way more liberal than at that time indeed. However the rule that the player has to be ONSIDE at the MOMENT of the pass was there. But it was poorly enforced and when in doubt the referee would favor the defense most of the time.
@@vrokhlenko the Dutch called it de buitenspel val (offside trap). It was a very important part of the system they played. That's partially why they were able to play so offensively.

No creo que hubiera cambiado tanto. Lo que pasa es que en México 70 se jugó en altitud, con temperaturas muy altas, la hierba de los campos también estaba muy alta y por eso el fútbol se jugó a un ritmo más lento. El fútbol ya era más rápido en 1970 de lo que parece en ese mundial. Ya en el mundial de 1966 se jugó a un ritmo más rápido que en el de 1970. Coja cualquier partido normal de esa época y lo verá.

@@luigiA.M. Você está enganado. Por ser estrangeiro e talvez muito novo não compreenda. Ele poderia jogar aquela copa, ainda tinha preparo físico e imensa qualidade. Ele não quis apesar de todos desejarem. Sempre foi um atleta acima de seu tempo. Se estivesse em campo todos morreriam de medo somente em vê-lo, bastaria uma estaca com uma camisa escrita Pelé, para os gringos ficarem pálidos. Mesmo aquela seleção que foi mal treinada conseguiu enfrentar durante boa parte do jogo a Holanda, perdendo dois gols incríveis. Mas a Holanda ganhou por méritos. Grande equipe holandesa e grande Johan Cruijff.
I always thought Brazil had two wrongly called offsides, but the first one was actually correct, it seems the other player heads the ball in the middle. The second one was not offside, but If you put it in slow motion and mark the time of the pass, it was not an easy call.

Eu era muito pequeno para entender esse jogo. Mas eu soube que o Brasil até tentou jogar, mas viu que não seria páreo. Então, começou a apelar para entradas mais duras e os holandeses resolveram revidar. Quando resolveram jogar, a Holanda nos despachou. Thanks God football have evolved. I remember that game. I was disappointed cz Brasil team even they did have some good players they were far away from the 70 wcup team. The game was physical and brutal. Luis Peirera great Player but completely lost his mind. The referee was drowned in this wilderness. Today at least 4 players will be red carded. The two goals of Neeskens and Cruijff were just the brights lights of the match.
