  • Your video reminded me of one of my favourite jokes, it goes like this: One day, Jesus and Satan were having a contest to see who was better with computers. After six long hours of making spreadsheets, designing web pages and writing programs, a thunderstorm suddenly knocked the power out. When they rebooted their computers Satan started screaming, “It’s all lost. LOST! All my work is f***ing gone!” Meanwhile, Jesus quietly printed out all his work, and turned it in. Satan complained, “It’s not fair. He must have cheated. How come he didn’t lose his work, too?” God just smiled and said, “Jesus saves.”

      @lj6278@lj62783 жыл бұрын
    • @@lj6278 No, the egg came before the chicken because the first chicken came from an egg and that egg came from the ancestor of the chicken. The true paradox is when is the limit between the chicken and it's ancestor; kinda like the pile of grain paradox.

      @geckoo7770@geckoo77703 жыл бұрын
    • @@geckoo7770 It depends on how far back are you willing to go in the evolution of a species. the ancestor of the chicken is an egg-laying animal, did that animal evolve from an egg-laying ancestor? it is generally agreed that all land-based animals evolved from the oceans. fish do not need a hard shell to protect their eggs. a shell was needed to protect the embryo from the elements and gravity. necessitating the development of a hard covering. therefore an animal was needed to create that covering. the chicken/egg question is considered a paradox, but also a thought experiment. requiring us to think of possible origins of the paradox.

Just like him being ugly and the mention of Hell, it all popped up during the medieval era when they needed to make him look worse and make the celtics look bad and convert more to Christianity. Couldn't have those shamans and "witches" being cast in a good light for using their magic (most of it was just herbal medicines). Even the idea of hell didn't even show up till the book Dante's Inferno was published where the seven layers of hell were described.
