I think RDR2 is the only game that done horses behavior right, instead of being a Flesh Vehicle they actually react to the surroundings.
Its not the same level of detail and behavior but I actually like the Breath of the Wild and tears of the kingdom horsers unfortunaly they became useless after 10 minutes of gameplay
Imo they pushed the horses realistic behaviour too far, it can become annoying at times especially since its the only way to travel the map. Too much realism doesn't necesarily make the gameplay optimal
@@alexandre.m actually it makes more fun by making moments more chaotic, i remember a shootout that broke in Saint Denis and a horse that was parked with a carriage behind it got spooked by the gunshots and started to ran over every pedestrian on the sidewalk.
@@alexandre.m The horses aren’t that realistic. They’re just realistic enough to not feel like, as the original comment said, flesh vehicles. It’s the perfect blend of gameplay with realism, just like the rest of the game
@@brendanlove9739 the horses slowing down on bridges, running 20 miles away as soon as they see a little flame, and their low stamina is what annoys me the most. Still one of the best horse system out there, but I feel like they could have made a few things more enjoyable

Yesterday i killed a wild boar on rdr2. When i was about to skin it. I got distracted by a random drunk npc who just wanted a friend to talk to. After i was done i went back to skin my boar... 3 coyotes we're munching on it. Ruined the pelt complety, couldn't even skin it anymore. Game is insane lol

I was trying to do one of those GOD DAMN collections where you needed a perfect snake skin. Took out my bow and before I could knock a blunted arrow a hawk grabbed it! Another time I had a Legendary that you could fit whole on a horse (maybe a fish) and I was going to deliver it and a cougar jumped, pulled me off, and killed me! I can never find one when I need it’s pelt but when my back is turned and I’m right in the middle of something one always gets me! Amazing.
thats is one more reason to play rdr2 rather then this game

When loading into my game at St Denis, Arthur was on the balcony of a fancy saloon at night. I glanced at the string of bulbs hanging on the railing as they were up close to the camera. Thought at first they were jaggy pixels but realized, they actually put the glowing filament in each frigging light bulb. Wth kind of attention to detail is that?!
Haha. I saw the same thing. But if you look close you’ll see the are flat images rotating with you when you go around them. Would be very expensive to render these in full 3D. The big lamps are full 3D though!

Red dead 2 is now almost 6 years old, and it STILL rivals most aaa games with the amount of detail the developers put into the game. Read dead 2 was FAR ahead of its time. It's still one of my favorite games and probably will be for a long time. I started replaying it again just a couple of weeks ago and I'm still finding details I missed, and I'm STILL amazed at the details and graphics the game has. The story is phenomenal, and the voice acting is spot on. Still am amazing game.
And despite that rdr2 is still better

Yeah it's not even a contest. The ONLY thing Avatar has over RDR2 is textures, which if it didn't after 5 years it would be embarrassing. Even ray tracing can't compete with Red Dead's lighting system and volumetric fog and clouds, which anyone who's seen how a misty morning looks like in the game can attest to. And this is the difference between technology and attention to detail. Not to mention that every area of the map feels so different and unique, when you go through meadows vs forests and then the towns and cities. This is like comparing LOTR to Rings of Power.

to be fair, the avatar horse would almost certainly not be able to swim, with the breathing mechanism so low on the body the second its shoulder deep in water it has to hold its breath, unless it had evolved a semi-aquatic ability to hold its breath for an extremely long time ( unlikely considering where we see them at ) it would suffocate very fast!
It’s crazy how RDR2 is still more deep detailed and beautiful than most newer games with newer engines, rockstar are the kings 🙌🏻

Yeah fr like, with all the information, studies, and things like that people still struggle to animate a horse properly. Only time it was done right was in RDR2.
Ubisoft animations have always been janky shit. AC unity is the exception because they actually bothered to use mocap in that one.

This is why I think rdr2 is the best free roam game in THE history of gaming. I have spent HOURS just walking and slow trotting on horseback ,hunting all sorts of animals while listening to awsome soothing country music on Spotify while playing the game. There was a great moment when on horse back ,just slowly walking up a hill with a nice chilled cinematic orchestra playing on my music list ,when I reached the top, the scenery opened out to the most amazing sunset and view. Just as the music burst into an epic ending. That bought a lump to my throat and if a game can have that effect on someone then they're definitely doing something right!. And I'm 50yrs old. Come on rockstar. Do a 3rd one. That'll be the biggest selling game of all time. Its just makes sense.

There are water snakes in the game and most animals (if not all) can flee by swimming. Its one of the most realistic games nature wise its super dope

Ubisoft really downgraded their fire physics, they had some of the best fire phyiscs in game from Far cry 2 through far cry primal and including AC games they made during that time span.
and i could have sworn their water physics and graphics used to be on point. when black flag came out that water was beautifull

I was playing ac origins a year after rdr2 and it felt so weird cause your mount would just spawn in ac origins, while in rdr2, you would actually worry about where it is. That’s what makes rdr2 special.
They put so much love and such an insane amount of work into all the intricate details in RDR2. Its an absolute disgrace that they just left the online version to die.
Another fun detail with the arrows in RDR2. They don't pierce stones so they bounce off it.

There is a skill in FoP where you can make it so your arrows don't break and can be retrieved from whatever it hit. It's pretty high up in the skill tree so it takes a while to get though.

I remember I was trying to collect herbs in Avatar and this alien horse approached me so I tamed it and rode it (I named it friend). Then when I needed to go somewhere far, I had to switch to my flying mount and tried to go to the next quest point. I looked back and see the horse still running after me. I felt sad so I went back down and tried looking for a way to bring it to the quest point with me by going around the mountains. As I was riding, I saw two herbivores getting attacked by a few of those alien leopards so I tried helping them. When the leopards scattered, they turned their attention towards me and attacked me and my horse. They tried attacking again but I rolled away. When the herbivores decided to leave us alone, I went to look for my horse but the next thing I saw when I looked to my right was it's corpse lying next to some flowers. So I got mad and looked for those two herbivores and hunted them down with my shotgun. When I found them, I emptied my mags on them out of anger. I went back to my friend horse's corpse and stayed there for a good 20 minutes saying my goodbyes. I made a custom mark on the map to know where my friend horse died so I can always come back to it.

Far Cry 2 had better fire than FC3. And it's not really physics. It's actually a really simple implementation. No game uses actual advanced fire simulation. The reason why they cut it down in FC3 was because of performance and the fact that when fire got out of hand it would burn half the map in FC2, which was fun at first but didn't make for good gameplay.
When you come to realize that RDR2 was a pure passion project way ahead of its time. This has become extremely rare.

I don't know what stones you were looking at. But that's definitely not how it looks in RDR2. I'm playing and looking at them right now. Maybe change your settings.

The arrows in Frontiers of Pandora are disappearing because they literally are breaking apart on impact. You have to upgrade your crafting skills to use better materials for arrows that don't break and can be picked up after

@@dankaynidk the properties of Pandora's wood that the arrows are made of, but Na'Vi are twice as tall as humans, their strength is higher than ours, and the bows they use are larger too. The force of such bow could as well cause an arrow to break upon impact.

The horses are easy to tame in Avatar due to the bond? that was deadass explained that they were the easiest animals to create a bond with, and that’s why multiple different Na’vi can ride them
And? All the video said was that it is super easy to tame a horse. And that is objectively true. Why rush to its defense unless you internally think it needs defending.
“They are easy to bond with” is an excuse once you actually bond with them. Walking up to a wild animal when the wildlife does in fact still exist in a predator/prey relationship, should not be easy. Bonding with the wild animal and then being able to just walk it into water where it immediately dies, without any resistance, suggests the Na’avi are in fact parasitic in nature. The “bonding” must surely amount to dominion over the animal’s will & survival instinct. Thus a horse should be instinctively compelled to stomp out any Na’avi that it sees coming, as a matter of self-preservation

The Na’vi connect their brain stems to them so their minds end up being one and the same so you learn to give them mental commands. Yes they shouldn’t die when they go into water I agree with that but in a game where your horse absolutely can die, and with a map that massive your horse shouldn’t have stamina that just takes the piss. And having to spam X constantly is so annoying
@@RathOfRey The connection has to be physically made. They link ponytails. Before that they’re just two different species, one being a hunter and the other a prey animal. You’d think the Na’avi would at least have to catch or lure the horse so they could get close enough to make that connection, but instead the player just holds their hands up and walks straight towards the horse. What is the explanation behind this? Why does this approach not work with other species on Pandora, if it is so effective?
@@averycheesypotato it only works on the dire horses because they’re non-hostile creatures. The banshees are very hostile naturally so therefore will put up a fight when you try to tame them
Pandora will always be stunning in their fauna. But nothing beats RDR2 on scenarios when riding around on the horseback and seeing those wievs. Its just mind blowing.

The dire horse drowned because the holes in its chest lead straight to its lungs its how they breathe and there aint much of a way to keep that above water
One time when I was playing RDR2, I spotted something in the near distance that sort of looked like a deer, but seemed off... I whip out the binocolars to look.. Its two stags that had gotten their horns tangled. One of them died, the other somehow got free and bolted as I approached. I have yet to encounter a game that is as detailed as RDR, or even a game that comes close to it. Not just detailed as in graphics but also how the environment behaves, wether you have done a direct action in it, or observe it from further away.
For avatar you need the skill for arrows to stick so you can pick them back up
Losing or damaging arrows is fair. Disappearing arrows is illogical.

It's just that these videos are only to milk clicks out of the fact that its a common notion that rdr is a detailed game, so you have to spent no time to treat the other game fairly, because the point is to shit on other game lmao

Havent played frontiers yet but that trot animation for the "horse" is 10x better than the janky and warped animation for the horses in assassins creed. So im glad to see it look more natural here

a detail i noticed that isnt mentioned. The foliage animation in Avatar and many other games looks so wrong. They try to emulate wind blowing through the grass and bushes and everything looks like its made of rubber.
Well most jungle plants have a rubbery texture so 😂
6:20 there’s a skill in the game that allows you to pick up an arrow when you shoot it and then you will see the arrow in the tree
The water refraction is amazing on Red Dead

@@m00rtin4Not touching RDR2. And I doubt it beats Black Flag, or Origins. Glad you enjoy it but I bought it for $5 and it was too similar to get excited about. I even enjoyed AC3 more but I’m biased and realize it’s not nearly as loved.
@@MattBerryIsTheGreatestActor it is like origins but much lighter in tone to the storytelling. It's not as simple as other ac games in those aspects. The gameplay is like a Allstar ac deluxe game. U want stealth? Yes they have it. U want a GOOD rpg? Yes they def have it. You want naval battles on the level of black flag? Yes they have it! Under the surface lies a beautiful game that is so underrated.

At 6:10 you show the arrows breaking in Avatar. It's a bit misleading because you unlock a perk later where your arrows stick in terrain and can be collected
You forgot to mention the detail of the horses in RDR2 with their muscles flexing and shifting under the skin.
Rockstar is soo thorough with their stuff. No wonder their older games still give newer AAA games a run for their money.
When we see the textures from close-up we notice that the game is getting old. But still my favourite.
Not even really, this guys playing his rdr2 at low settings or just doesn’t have an up to date system because when you play rdr2 and use the in game camera to view your characters face you can see wrinkles, stubble, pores, blemishes, your characters iris is even highly detailed as well as the pupils dilating when the light changes. When you got a good system red dead still looks all around better than these new games.

Yesterday I was trying to tame the special white horse in the snow area near a lake (players know which one). I was trying to hold it with my rope but it kept escaping. Finally I got on and it was trying to kick me out. We both fell down into a waterfall. It hit his head on a stone and died instantly and I will never see him back 😢😢😢

The thing that stands out on avatar is the ability to seamlessly scale cliffs in first person without having a locked in animation. First game to ever do this.
and rockstar still doesn't give rdr2 60 fps on ps5
they were just too lazy to upgrade it run at 60fps due to last gen consoles probably being able to turn into nuclear bombs if they ran it at 60fps.

1 playthrough i kept the black horse from begining. Started running over every animal and enemy it went from "work" tag to "war/work" whistle and it would trample people shooting at me. Even stomped a gator to death. I loved that virtual horse named "Thanatos" made the ending even worse :c. That damn thing would run over friggin gators!!!
Even though yea the games have different graphics and bunch of other things different better or worse than each other, I personally feel it's really hard to compare these games when they technically have nothing to do with each other and the lore and how things operate in the world are drastically different. On top of that the games have very different feature focuses, AFOP focuses more on combat and very little small details / quality of life and story telling stuff. RDR2 is very focused on a medium amount of combat but mainly on story telling, very small details, and quality of life stuff. I love the games both equally but I do really wish ubi soft to hone in on the story and little details for AFOP it wound make the game that I love that much better.
Rockstar needs to focus on making you feel more responsive, better controls and actual gameplay like the cover system, their games feel bad to play despite being graphically great

@@igorgranville7583 Agreed. I'm a huge RDR2 fan but even I agree that their games feel clunky, especially the newer ones like GTA5 and more so RDR2. I get why they do it though to make the game feel more realistic with their movement and animations. I hope they can find a good balance in GTA6.

Though I agree that taming horses in RDR2 is more realistic and the behaviour and movement is also more realistic, you've got to realise that avatar is a different world. The na'vi are much more intune with the wildlife, making it easier to tame and bond with the animals. So I don't think you can compare them in that way. Another thing to add is about the arrows breaking and disappearing. In avatar there are skill sets that you can acquire throughout the game. One is that when arrows are shot they do not break and you can collect them again by going up to them. So that comparison in the vid isn't actually true

When RDR2 first came out, I remember the complaints were how overworked the developers were and how long the wait was....It has clearly paid off especially after years of other newer games coming out. Hats off to Rockstar!
Even tho is getting a little old RDR2 is so realistic the atmosphere is just spot on
