Can Dr. Sproul guarantee that you are one of the Elect? I guarantee that Anyone who CHOOSES by the Free-will that God has given us, to put faith in Christ shall be saved! Jesus said that He came that the World (EVERYONE) might be saved! It's sad that Dr. Sproul can give comfort to " a few ", but not to all. The GOOD NEWS that he preaches limits his Sovereign God to even " OFFER " salvation to ALL! This kind of false doctrine is one of the enemy's of hindering the witnessing of the GOOD NEWS OF CHRIST, that is not just for us, but for the sins of the whole world! WAY TO GO SPROUL!
I enjoy many of Sproul's teachings. But after a while, I began to question calvinism, the unconditional election in particular. I don't disagree with God's sovereignty, but I believe that God is not only just but also loving. He wants everyone to be saved, He takes no joy when anyone perishes. The Bible also supports this view.
What about the millions and millions who never hear the Gospel? They never have a chance of salvation in your free- will theology.

God says He is not willing that any should perish, but for all to come to repentance. 2 Pet 3:9
@@lindahybicki5079 I will quickly explain. Who is the writer speaking to when he says this? Take a look at the opening verse in the chapter, “ Dear friends,this is now my second letter to you”…. . Let’s look at the first letter- 1 Peter. There is the opening sentences it says,”To God’s elect….who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father…”. Hope this helps in understanding the passage you quoted.

God is the only sovereign. He was,is, will be, doing anything and everything according to the good pleasure of his will. Just submit to him; no other way. He , He alone is our true happiness,joy, delight.
Amen. In His sovereignty, He gave us free will to choose to believe or not.
Man does not have a "free" will.. man has inherited a "fallen and evil" will, that must be born again, thru the Holy Spirit
Sproul teaches that you cannot submit to Him. Just hope that He chooses you. Research calvinism.

The entire verse reads as follows: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. - 2 Peter 3:9. The important word here is "us-ward". This is NOT an all-encompassing verse for 'all men', but for the 'us-ward' people. Peter would not have specifically said it in this way if it were for everyone. Who then are the "us-ward"? Look at the first verse of the first chapter, the opening salutation: Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, *to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ* : 2 Peter 1:1 This epistle is specifically addressed to a specific people, and those people are the Church; the saved people. God will not have any of the saved to be lost, but for the saved to come to repentance when we do wrong.
us-word is not a word. What is your point exactly? You are not part of that church which Peter wrote about then either.

Speak therefore for yourself and stay on your own side of the street. Edit" The term is "us-ward", not "us-word". And that term is an exclusive term used to describe a specific people. Otherwise it would not have been used.

If you understand doctrine, then you know epistles in the Bible are made up of three constituent parts; those being the opening salutation, the body/text of the message, and the concluding benediction. When you therefore read the body of the message, the intended recipients are spoken of in the 1st verse of the 1st chapter.

It is specially natural here that St. Peter should not include himself among those whom he addresses; for he is writing mainly to Gentile Christians (2Peter 1:1), and this longsuffering of God had been conspicuous in His dealings with the Gentiles. He is talking to the church but he is also speaking of everybody & anybody who comes to belief in Christ.
Thank you so very much for sharing this teaching on the doctrine of election which is delivered in such a concise and easy to comprehend manner. While the truths expounded here had been birthed in my mind for many years, my attempts to articulate them. at one time, were less than sufficient. While teaching an adult Sunday Bible class, I had a dear brother in Christ with whom I often socialized, who gave the standard "foreknowledge of those who respond to the gospel favorably" as God's determining factor for election. Partly because I was ill prepared that day and partly because of who purported the notion, my mind went blank and I simply said, "No, that's not the case," and went straight to Paul's example of Jacob and Esau. Dr. Sproul had a wonderful way of laying out the truths of our doctrine in terms that are both easily understood and readily retained. I am what is often demeaningly referred to as a lay minister: not educated by means of institutions created by man, as if man is better at such than God's word and His Spirit of holiness. That same designation could be applied to many efficaciously dynamic and fruitful Saints/ministers of the past (yet I fall very short even of them). Although, as I listen intently to those holding doctorates in theology, I make full use of their references to many Christian works of the past which expound sound doctrine. I find those books and men, then avail myself to study them without paying someone to tell me I should study them (chortle); from the ancient greek philosophers to Augustine to the reformers and puritans, etc, etc. God has been preparing my mind for service. Sort of stuck momentarily in John Owens' Mortification of Sin. Prayers much appreciated.
So you think is ok that God choose people for hell and people to heaven?
I think of it this way. I didn't choose God, he chose me. He knows who will believe him and he chooses them. The big difference Calvinism has made in my relation to God the father is that I now realize that I don't really have anything to do with my salvation. God does everything. He is all in all. "I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy" "one vessel for honer and one for dishonor." We didn't find the Lord, our names were written in the book of life before the world began. We are all asking God to reveal his truths to us and make us fit for his kingdom. God bless you all.
To me the easiest way to understand predestination is the verses about the Potter and the clay God is the Potter we are the clay the clay can never demand anything. ALWAYS The Potter's choice as to How, When, Where and Why!!!❤✝️❤
If a potter made a pot that was alive and could think, then he would NOT have the right to destroy that pot. Do you think that parents have the right to kill their children, because they made them? Neither does God have the right to do bad things to people, like send them to hell.

Anytime anyone labels their faith, theology, or doctrine as "REFORMED , APOSTOLIC, NAR, BAPTIST, METHODIST, PENTECOSTAL, and on and on, does not understand the the Gospel of CHRIST (Which is salvation through faith in Jesus's atonement. Romans chapter 1 verse 16, nor the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Which is the purpose of the Body of Christ in the earth! Mark chapter 1 verse 15. To be Lights in this dark world that whomsoever would, will believe in Christ and be saved and not perish. All these Labels make the Gospel of non-effect, by separating so-called believers, while the scriptures teach us that there is One Spirit, and Jesus said that the world will know His disciples by the Love that they have for one another. Calvinist teachings make the Gospel of non-effect, and so do all label-bearers. We are called to LOVE GOD WITH ALL OUR HEARTS MINDS AND SOULS and to LOVE OUR Neighbors as OURSELVES! Few will find it.
Yes. very true. I am so glad I can affirm what the scriptures actually say by listening to men like John Lennox and C.S. Lewis, Tozier and also Dr. Leighton Flowers (with his channel soteriology 101) and so many others who have left this misrepresentation of the word of god. They have brought me back to the scriptures and the amazing true character of God and all his provision and away from Calvinism. So many are leaving Calvinism because it is not the Gospel Jesus taught.

@highlanderthegreat I love the way that you explained your assessment of the Gospel! 2nd Corinthians chapter 11 verse 3, speaks of the " simplicity that is in Christ! " I think your comment illuminates that important point. I think the more rhetoric, such as labels, titles, etc, serve to create barriers and walls of separation that diminishes the Spirit of unity that God gives to those who believe in His son. That means Sproul isn't speaking authoritatively but rather is depending on the authoritative Word of God. In contrast, the Arminian theology starts from a worldly perspective of free will which is trying to somehow save God from an evil character...Let God be God. He does not need your help

He and his family were pure blood....meaning not polluted by the blood of fallen angels.

The fallen angles had little to do with tainting the entire human race for it was Adam and eve who did that when they disobeyed God and decided to be the god's of their own lives thus rejecting God Himself as their Lord. Sin in the human race increased to the point God had to destroy most all of them. But sin was still there and would always be until their was a sacrifice for it which was Jesus himself.
In 1976, when I was 13 years old, I had a wide awake, real, in full color VISION of the Lord's Return... We lived out in the country in the middle of dusty plowed fields, dirt roads and woods in south Georgia. Everything looked kind of brown and crispy, like it needed rain bad. The corn field across the road in front of the house was starting to turn brown and die. I went to my bedroom, which faced out the front side of the house and looked out onto our front yard, which had a semi-circular dirt driveway and beside the left entrance was an old dogwood tree which had to be at least a hundred years old. Highway 341 ran from east to west in front of our house, which faced north, and the cornfield I spoke of earlier was on the other side of the highway. There was a slight rise in the middle of this field and you could not see the trees on the other side, so it looked like an ocean of corn that went off into the horizon. As I lay across my bed looking out the window, contemplating what I saw before me, I began to hear music in the distance. I specifically heard it in my right ear and the direction from which it came made me think of the high school band which practiced several miles southeast from where I lived. When conditions were right we could hear the band playing, but usually only heard the faint beat of drums. This sounded like trumpets and as I was thinking this to myself, I began to notice the music getting louder and louder, coming closer and closer, very quickly. Within a few seconds the sound wasn't just something that was exterior, but it was inside my head as well, reverberating throughout my entire body. It was so loud and it sounded like lightning crashed directly over my head and, in that split second, the trumpet sound thundered throughout my body and throughout the entire world...everything went dark and my bed and the earth shook violently. In a flash, I was no longer lying on my bed, but I was standing outside my bedroom window in the front yard and I beheld the scene in front of me with tremendous awe. It was still my front yard, only now everything was different. It seemed as if my entire range of vision was a huge 3D movie screen and I was in the middle of it. The trumpets continued to sound and I saw that the blue, sunny sky had turned black and the clouds churned and the wind blew with a violence that I had never experienced. The corn field was now a sea of wheat that was golden brown and ripe for harvest and I could see every stalk of wheat individually, billions of them. And I watched as the wind thrashed the wheat until it was beaten down by the storm. I now know that the Bible speaks several times about, in the end time, when the wheat is ripe for harvest, how the wheat will be separated from the tares. The tares are gathered and bundled together for burning and the wheat is gathered into the barn. Then I noticed the dogwood tree. It was mid-July, so of course I know there should not have been any blossoms on it, they usually bloom around Easter...but the tree was in full bloom. I had never seen anything like this. You couldn't see any leaves on the tree because of the millions of dogwood blossoms. It looked as if it were lit from within, by a glowing whitest of white, neon light and it glowed gloriously against the darkened sky. Now, I know the Bible says no man knows the day nor hour that Jesus will return, but if we watch for the signs, we can know the season. I have always felt that He might come back in the spring when the dogwood tree is in bloom. Of all the things that could have been highlighted in a vision; why the dogwood tree? I believe there is a specific message here. (Update: recently, I prayed about this and I feel the Lord placed into my spirit that this represents the fullness of the gentiles coming in). Just as I was taking all of this in, lightning filled the sky and the trumpets thundered over head again and in an instant there appeared two angels. They were dressed in white robes, facing each other up in the air and blowing golden trumpets. They were huge and filled the sky in front of me and I knew that the entire world must be seeing this as well. When I say huge, I mean like the size of the highest mountains, literally. I didn't think the trumpets could get any louder, but they grew louder still, building to a great crescendo and I heard a great shout that was louder than anything that you could imagine. And with that shout, it's as if the earth fell silent, the black, violent clouds began to roll back onto themselves from the center of the northeastern sky and I saw light in the distance. It was more a combination of light and clearing of the clouds in the distance that got my attention. As I looked up at this shaft of light and clearing sky, I saw what seemed to be fluttering and movement in the distance. As it came into view, I saw Jesus on a white horse and behind him were millions of angels and saints on white horses. It was at this moment, when I realized what I was seeing, that it disappeared and I was back in my room lying on my bed. Everything was back to normal and I was again looking out at a bright, sunny day.

I wish I had had that experience. But God has shown me visions and dreams that came true and I have felt His present and experience His healing of Hiv and Hep C. God is real and does what He says in His word.

How does God decide who to save? Sproul doesn't address this question. I guess he would have said, if pressed, I don't know. But Jesus says to you and me, "I stand at the door and knock, if ANYONE hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him . . ." Opening the door is an action on the part of the believer. Sorry, but what Sproul teaches here is contradicted by God's Word. And by Jesus, who told Nicodemus, "that WHOSOEVER believes in me will not perish . . ."
Exactly! Colossians 2:12. It is by faith we are born again by the baptism of His spirit. Romans chapter 1. Everyone has been given a knowledge of God through what has been created so no one will have an excuse for not believing. The capacity to believe and put our trust in God has also been given for all mankind. Faith is a gift from god and not from ourselves. It is, in essence, the capacity to open the door and follow - to choose. That capacity is also the freedom to reject the good news message.
In proportion to our abandonment of God are we taken care of by God. Therefore, we must surrender to the Will of God(Inner Christ) if we truly Desire to Discern the Movements of God within.... Remove the False Image of a ME separate and apart from God.... The Christ is the act of Eternal Life living Within its own Infinity, and becomes Demonstrable without through the Receptivity of the Crucifixion of the Self separate and apart from God.... The Christ is ALWAYS ALIVE IN US, but we must be Alive to the Christ.... We are either awake to good and evil(matter/mortality/false sense), or we are Awake to Divine Perfection(Spirit).... When we are not attuned to Divine Consciousness(Eternal Life, Immortality, Truth), by default, we are attuned to Mortal Consciousness(karmic death, mortality, form, evil, etc).... Every communication Unfolding from God within is to make the Spirit/Soul die to the Self, as the Purpose of the Soul is to take Dominion over the mind(the world that must be overcome).... We must separate ourselves from the Mortal Delusion(s) of our Adversary, the World Mind and it's mortal thoughts.... The Christ Within asks one thing of us: Crucify the Belief in a Me Separate and Apart from the Immortal, Omnipresent Spirit of God, as there is no more Glorious a Demonstration than the Transformation from mortal sense to Spiritual Immortality.... The massive wall we have built shielding us from our truth lies in intellectual concepts, also known as Graven Images of Mortality. What is of God is Infinite, and what is not of God is an Appearance of a False Image where Only God is.... Heaven is where you are, and the only place that you can ever be, yet Hell is the place that you insist on experiencing.... In the Bible, nothing is literal, religious, or historical because it was written by those of an Illumined Consciousness for those who the bible call JEWS, which are individuals who have come to the virginal realization that the Spirit of God is the Only Presence, and are actively working toward a greater Receptivity of this Principle. Israel does not refer to a location, but rather an Illumined Conscious State of Being, while Egypt is the Symbol of Darkness of Ignorance of Being. The Christ is not talking about Jesus(as jesus the human is nothing of itself, and can do nothing of itself. And if Christ talked about the form of jesus as a reality it would have been a lie), but rather the Conscious State of Awareness that knows the Infinite, Perfect Spirit of God is the Only Presence, that all will ultimately kneel to.... And we come to the practice of the Nicolaitans, which is the symbol of ALL RELIGIOUS BELIEF, which is what crucifies the Christ Within that's waiting for your Recognition, Realization and Receptivity.... We cannot glorify the Father, and glorify the flesh, or the sense of a personal Me separate and apart from God(including the flesh of jesus). Our Consciousness can not be divided in this. Either God is or God isn't the Only Life, and our experience is the Demonstration of either/or, depending on our receptivity to Life(Immortality), or Death(Mortality)... Where there's a Me(human self-love and human self-will) separate and apart from God there is SIN..... SELF...................S INDULGED..........I NUISANCE.........N Me, not God, therefore, ME knows better than God, and because ME knows better, ME MUST suffer the consequences of ME mortal beliefs of a Life Separate and Apart from God!! ME must appear to suffer the mortal consequences of ME IGNORANCE of TRUTH of BEING.... He who Realizes his Life is the Spirit of God has Eternal Life! He then walks through the mortal appearance a Divine Being, in who the 5 Senses of Mortal Lies have been Impersonalized, therefore hold no power over him. His fidelity is to the Immortal Spirit he is, and no longer to the mortal illusion of life not of God.... We Must OVERCOME the Belief that we are not Immortal, Divine Being..... To him that Overcometh the temptation of the tree of good and evil(belief in a mortal existence separate and apart from God)will I give to eat of the Tree of Life(ALL GOD IS/ETERNAL LIFE), which is in the Midst of the Kingdom of God(Omnipresence).... Turn ye from the false images of the mortal world of man with breath in his nostrils, and Dwell in the Secret Place of the Most High!! I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD....of the 5 senses of World Mind Belief, knowing they can only lie!! I and the Infinite are One.... We are not a Christian until we know Christ(Infinite Perfect Spirit) is our Identity....!!!
The problem here Jeff, is you are attempting to hold God to your subjective standard of reason and favour. In your reasoning therefore, you attempt to hold God to account to your personal perceptions of what is fair and what is not. No man can do this, as we are earthen vessels made by the hands of Him whom we have to do. God created all things by Him, through Him and for Him, therefore it is up to God as to how the world operates, and He can chose to do with us as He pleases. David said the Earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof; the Earth and everyone in it in Psalm 24. Your personal subjectivity has no bearing on what God does or says. Did he consult you before He made the Heavens and the Earth? Read Job Chapter 38 from verse one, onwards.

Mr. Sproul had a right to his opinion. I maintain that the action of the individual will determine his or her fellowship with Christ. There's nothing ambiguous about, "if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him." Christ extends his gracious invitation to all of humanity. The Father GAVE Jesus His sheep according to verse 29, which are us today in the Church. And verse 28 assures us we have eternal life and shall never perish. You cannot refute the words of the Almighty. For context on God's will, it might help you to read Isaiah 46:10.
I dont care who you are. If its in your heart to seek Him, He chose you. But do it the right way, completely give yourself to Him. Tell Him to do with you whatever pleases Him, offer yourself and everything you have up as a sacrifice to Him, and you shall be favored, taken care of, and, the best part, you get His presence.

The vessels of wrath were the Israelites who rejected their salvation. Jesus condemned them, and destroyed their temple, city and priesthood, for their rejection. The vessels of mercy are the Gentiles, who have been offered salvation based on the Nation of Israel's rejection. God has predestinated, from the foundation of the world, that all those who believe in Christ will be saved.
Romans 11:11-36 From this account of Paul, they're hardened for a period of time for our sake. But one day, they will truly see that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of their tradition, culture & hope (atonement for sins & offerings of thanksgiving, law & prophets, a deliverer-salvation, promised land, etc.) These are God's revelation of himself, first to the Jews, then to the Gentiles. His promise to the patriarchs will never be broken. I always think of this doctrine in light of the verse , “It’s not God’s will that ANY should perish.” Then whose will is it that some would perish? Their own. I’m a simple person. Even my will to be saved is aided by God, the Holy Spirit.
You are not quoting the scripture correctly, and therein lies your problem. Read the WHOLE verse of 2 Peter 3:9 -- Peter specifically states it is to "us-ward" which is the Church. NOT to the entire world. God is not willing that ANY who are saved will perish, but all who are saved will come to repentance. We know that Peter is addressing the church specifically, because he says so in the opening salutation in 2 Peter 1:1.
As long as we agree that If we accept that Jesus died for our sins and believe he ressurected from the dead and defeated death you shall be saved.....and agree to spread the gospels we are commanded.....i dont think we should waste energy fighting eachother
No one can believe unless God brings them out of the darkness they are in to His light. Read His word on that for no one comes to Jesus unless the father draws them. Look that up period.

He offers us forgiveness (Hebrews 8:12; Ephesians 1:7), reconciliation (Colossians 1:19-20), abundant life (John 10:10), eternal treasure (Luke 12:33), His Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13), and a place in heaven with Him some day (John 3:16-18) when we accept His offer and place our faith in His sacrifice.

God knows who is going to be save and who is not, before the foundation of World. He left it up to each to make a choice, to receive Christ Jesus as their Saviour or reject His, those who receive Christ, He save, those who reject Him, they are lost, so it really up to the individual. Ephesians 2: 8-9 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one can boast. The verse clearly states "this is not from yourselves" meaning you have nothing to do with it it is what? "the gift of God" so that no one can boast. As RC said in the video if there was something you had to do with it you could then tell people "I did x, y, and z to get my salvation" which automatically means it is no longer by God's grace you are saved but of yourself which is not biblical. Psalm 3:8 clearly states "Salvation belongeth unto the Lord" it is his to give or not give it depends not on you. John 6:44 - No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. We see also here "No man CAN come to me" Jesus didn't say no one MAY he said no one CAN meaning you don't even have the ability to choose God unless what? No your statement is in complete contradiction to God's word that was just present here and is in His word. Salvation is up to God alone. Since every human being is born into sin the sinful nature and is spiritually dead and blind, then how do they decide to seek God if they cannot see God due to their spiritual blindness? They cannot. God's word say no one seeks God not one! It is only due to the intervention of God drawing them to Him/Jesus that brings them from darkness to His light. This is all in His word and is very clear to those who have the Holy spirit and discern the spiritual things of the bible with the help of the Holy spirit. I believe there is more to this point than was explained though. Does not God judge the heart of the person, as well as having the foresight to know the full mind and characteristics of the person? Was David just anyone? Or Moses, Noah and Paul just anyone God picked randomly? or the diseased Lazarus, that went to Abraham's bosom while the rich man did not? Or the thief on the cross who asked Jesus to remember him, while the other thief did not? I feel there has to be something else involved here, not the works of the person, but the potential heart of the person that pleases God to choose them.
The problem with your way of thinking is that God would save people based on some goodness God foresaw in them. That way of thinking about it creates a problem because like Mr. Sproul just explained, It would take away God's divine right to show clemency to whomever he desires, by making Him subject to a creature that He has created. There seems to be a co-incidence between the spirit of the person and which person God chooses to save. Did God not create anything because it pleased him to do so? So what if certain people pleased him for whatever reason, could not God take that into consideration of whom he chooses to save? God is not forced to choose these people, it is just that it pleases him and was his will to choose them.

How is it reasonable that after Jesus paying the price of my sin on the cross I can then reject it? Seeing that God is both omniscient and immutable suggests to me that absolute predestination and therefore unconditional election is unavoidable.

I believe God invites us but we decide if we will take the steps necessary to be saved. Calvinists are probably saved but their theology is a little bit screwy, but so is mine.

Then why does 2 Peter 3:9 say that God is "not willing (note "willing" means in God's will) that any should perish, but that ALL (emphasis added) should come to repentance"? This verse clearly means that God wishes that everyone would repent and be saved. The Bible is clear that repentance is necessary for salvation. Elsewhere in the Bible, in Ezekiel 33:11, God clearly takes no pleasure in destroying the wicked. So if election is unconditional and repentance (i.e., our decisions and actions) isn't necessary, then why wouldn't God simply elect EVERYONE?? Not arguing, just seeking.

The Bible says that God will reconcile all things to himself through Christ. (Colossians 1:20) I believe he eventually will, but it also says there is an elect group, but these aren't the only ones saved, but they have a special purpose, 1 Timothy 4:10 says that God is the savior of all mankind, especially of believers, not exclusively believers, its all a plan that has to play out in real time.

My understanding of this teaching is that no one asks God for salvation, but what if there are those who do and don't get any response from God? JMc said that those who ask God for salvation will receive it and quickly. That's not my experience. After praying to God for months about it, I have had no response.

Well this is certainly a palatable verion of Calvinism. Taken in isolation, I'd say its almost identical to what I believe as a non-reformed Baptist. I'm just not sure that John Calvin wouldn't go a lot further in the implications of determinism.

Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Salvation and election are, as RC said, the same. You're saved by God when you choose to trust in Jesus Christ as God and savior. It's that simple. Also remember, Calvinism preaches an entirely different gospel than that of scripture. It is a cult, and people are waking up to it (again). It generally spikes in cycles of 20 years when the younger generation grows up and gets sucked into it.
God is not calling all people in their 1st life he calls those who are weak , easily discouraged , lack will as Corinthians tells us . Even if God calls you you do not have to take your calling as it says in the gospel book count the cost of becoming a disciple . Predestination has to do with being called that's all before you were born he knew who he would call .

Do you really believe that the sovereign God is tied to the concept of unconditional election? Sproul does a good job of constructing an intellectual argument that supports the concept of unconditional election, but on what basis does this exclude conditional election? If you believe that God can elect unconditionally, what prevents God from also electing individuals based on their actions. God said to Moses " I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion". Could this mean that God is not restricted to unconditional election only? If you disagree, what scripture supports the concept that excludes God from having mercy on individuals based on their actions?

So wait, listen to what He implies, saying that man, not just Jacob and Esau, have not done any good or bad before they were born. If that's the case, and He also determines man to sin, then it must be God that has designed man to sin and in turn burn in hell, not because of anything they dome prior. What if, He means that righteousness has nothing to do with the works or desires of man but eternal security, Election, is based on His eternal grace, love and righteousness that all men must decide in their own minds whether they will believe this and Him, or not?
Any person who genuinely desires and seeks to be saved through the redemption made sure by Jesus Christ, will not be passed by. Any person who hates the gospel of Jesus Christ may wind up lost or saved according to God's predestinating decree. The people who make the 180 degree away from sin, turning God-ward out of a genuine repentance, will land in the net. The people who remain hardened in their sin and die in that state will be lost. They have lived for themselves and their flesh -- rejecting the idea of a heaven to gain and a hell to shun, not caring that One came to Earth to die in the place of sinners. They despised His claim of being the Messiah/Son of Man ("..we will not have this man to reign over us..." Luke 19:14b ). Divine justice aligns with their desire not to be disciples of Jesus Christ and so they are consigned to an eternal state of torment within the lake of fire.
I think that God chooses those who will go to heaven (God is good, God is sovereign), but He doesn't choose anyone to go to hell (God desires all to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth).
God wanna everyone to be saved but if anyone is stubborn to deny Jesus, one won't be saved or receive salvation/eternal life.

It is bad of God if he forces us against to choose our free will or does not give us freedom of choice to live. So we can choose any choice that we want/love because God loves us so much. Eventhough we choose badly, God still love us, however, if we still stubborn to choose the bads, we are still throwing our souls to hell fire! You say (and I know you are not with us any more) that out of the group of 6, 3 are determined for grace (mercy) and 3 for justice, yet Psalm 89:14 covers both for "Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face." This correlates to John 1:17; "For the law (judgment) was given by Moses, but grace (mercy) and truth came by Jesus Christ." There seems to be a great separation point here, between Law and grace, revealed by scripture like John 1:12, John 3:16, Romans 10:9,10. Any way, it seems that, by these, salvation is conditional; "as many as", "whosoever will", and "If thou shalt". Which go along with 1 Peter 1:2; "Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied."

Predestination and election is NOT regarding salvation and damnation. Predestination and election have to do with the purpose FOR those who come to Christ. Those who come to Christ by faith become one with God's Son and are at that point elected and predestinate for God's full purpose.
Give me what the early church fathers saw as ultimate restoration of ALL creation through Christ on the cross. Death Sin conquered by God's unrelenting grace mercy and love. Eastern Orthodoxy's APOKATASTASIS theme speaks of this. Sadly so much of the Bible paints God in our image than the image shown by Jesus the Christ. Personally I am at peace and rest since moving on from Fundamentalism with its often literalistic interpretations of the Bible, which its written word is not the final authority. God saves when one believe, confesses and repents. Otherwise preaching the Gospel of Salvation is senseless. What does Calvinism say about the nature of God who predestined some to Heaven and some to Hell? As men like Thomas Jefferson once said, double predestination is demonic.

If it is true that God chose to save whoever he deems fit to save, then what about the rest? Arent they chosen for hell? Their role being to do evil and therefore go to hell, the big question is this, "WHO IS CREATING MORE PEOPLE TO SUSTAIN THE EVIL COURSE?" The position of calvinists is that God is doing just that, in essence they are saying God is the author of evil and is continually sustaining it by all evil people he creates. Clickbait. Sproul does not answer the question of how God decides. The lecture is not about the stated topic even, but is about whether people by their actions or thoughts determine their own salvation, and Sproul says that they do not, God decides totally apart from what men decide to think or do. But why does God chose one person over another? Sproul does not even discuss this, yet that was the question that supposedly was to be answered.
I would argue that even if he could answer that question, it could very well not even apply to anyone alive today since it's possible that election is "closed, i.e. God has made his choice and we dont know if that choice even extends to the present day. This is the predicament Calvinism creates. It's a theology based on a closed-ended question: Am I saved? And this question can only be answered by God, according to this theology, since only he knows who has been selected. Whereas, I prefer the theology of the open-ended question: How can I be saved? The Bible can answer this question for you. And the answer applies to all who read it.
The video is covering unconditional election- the idea that God chooses whom He elects according to His good pleasure and sovereign will. Thus, answering the question in the title- the way God decided who to save is according to His good pleasure.

Those are non-answers, and so is Sproul's answer to "How does God decide who to save?"

This was one of the worst arguments I heard to support predestination. God didn’t choose to hate Esau and love, Jacob.. Esau gave up his birthright for a bowl of beans, and Jacob was a deceiver who deceived Isaac into thinking he was Esau, whom the blessing of the first born son is to receive. This has absolutely nothing to do with predestination and everything to do with the free choice of the twins. Now let’s keep going to Romans 10 and what does that chapter say? Something about confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart, something about how can they believe if they do not hear. No beloved the door is open wide to all who believe. RC would’ve been better to use John 6:44, although he probably would’ve missed quoted that too. Look at the beginning of Hebrews, it states God who at various times, and various ways revealed Himself to man, well, that’s what’s going on with John 6:44. Anyways, not here to bash. Just know beloved if you press into God He will press into you. If you reject God, He will reject you. God is calling you to come out of the dark heresies of Calvinism and into the light of His Truth Seek Him well you still can!
Ps. As well, he states God is fair. Well, if God was truly fair, we would all be burning in hell after our last breath, for we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God! In a court of law, when you are guilty, you pay the penalty, that is the fair thing, and we all live in a society where if you break the law, you pay the fair penalty. No, beloved, God is not fair, He is just, He is a God of His word, a God of mercy and grace. He is arrogant as hell and on the one hand tells you that God is unfathomable, and on the other is ready to tell you exactly what God thinks and wants. I have been predestined to speak out against Calvinism, and let all know that if.... Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. That would totally contradict what Paul said in the previous chapter that RC Is quoting, unless Paul meant something totally different, which he did, those that were elected were the chosen Jewish nation, before the Cross.. That passage has absolutely nothing to do with God choosing us, it is by our faith we have been saved, our repentance and turning toward God and away from Sin

So according to this teaching God liberated the Israelites from Egipt to kill them in the desert? All the miracles that he performed before them and Moses's testimonny were not enough to have faith in God because at the end what they really needed was the irresistable grace? If scripture said God is love and holiness (or justice), then these two attributes would be on the same level. If scripture said God is loving and holy (or just), then these two attributes would also be on the same level. BUT Scripture says God is love and is holy/just. Love is supreme.
Can or does change his mind? Can he or does he repent of his plans? Yes to both questions. Search the scripture and you will find it. The problem with the turgid interpretation of scripture by Calvinists and Reformed theologians is they think God is inflexible! Your God is too small. See John 6:39, 17:2, 11,12; Romans 8:37-39; II Tim. 1:12; 4:18, etc. etc. Some object to this doctrine because it supposedly makes men "carnally secure" in their salvation. That is, if I know nothing can make me go to hell once God has saved me, I will "live like the devil." There have been some who have used this beautiful truth as an excuse to live like the devil. But they are not Christians. Nor do they understand this truth. Because this truth also implies "PERSEVERANCE OF THE SAINTS." Those who never fall away are saints. They are holy. And they are given power to live holy lives. They "continue in well-doing." Anyone who says he can "live like the devil" has not experienced the saving power of Christ and does not know the meaning of Philippians 1:6, "He that hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." God will continue working good works in us until Christ returns. Don't think otherwise. Is there any hope for Christians without this doctrine? We don't need to be "scared to heaven." We need comfort. Because we know that if it were up to the Christian to remain saved, he would never be able to do it. You know yourself!!!! There is no power in me apart from God's grace.
