Ever have a flat tire and there were no men around to help you?
When I was driving from Dallas, my tire exploded around 2 am an hour outside of Houston. Luckily, two strange men helped me. If those men weren't there, I don't know what would've happened! So with the help of my friend Brittany we learned how to change it ourselves and thought other women should know too!

Like seriously, don’t you guys have something better to do? Feel more important now? Now please go away. The video was funny and reminds me off what youtube used to be before everybody had upload schedules and branding and an intro. Great job.   • Quick tip, while you're lifting up the car with the jack. Put the flat tire under the car next to the jack. Just in case the jack breaks or if you didn't placed it in the correct place. So if the car falls, it will land on the wheel and not on you or on the floor :)

  • I had a flat tire today, and have never in my life changed a tire. This video helped me tremendously. Not only did it help, but it made me laugh at a very stressful time…stranded with no help. Now that I’ve changed my tire, I honestly feel like I can do ANYTHING! I’m it even kidding. Changing a tire has always been something I was afraid to do. THANK YOU!

  • Watched this on the side of the road today, and I can now confidently say at 24 years old I can now change my own tires. You really helped me out. I'm gonna go to the shop tomorrow to get a new tire, I'll bring it home and put it on myself now and save some money! Dude... seriously thank you. It was put up 5yrs ago I guess and here I am in 2021 needing to change my tire myself since my husband is in the hospital with COVID (they won’t let any visitors in yet but I want to try to get in today).     • EpicHysteria I would argue that sexism may not be as confined as you might think. I feel like the severity of it has lessened, but the fact that a lot of people legitimately believe women are worse drivers or that girls shouldn't play video games or that the wage gap is justified shows a kind of sexism that's still too widespread for me to be comfortable with. A different, more subdued kind of sexism, but sexism nonetheless.

  • I Was preparing to replace some items on my vehicle today. Replacement of broken and missing hubcaps, driver's side mirror, and driver's side tail light. As a mother, it was important to me to get these items to teach my 16 year old son how to be self-sufficient with car repair. I happened to notice this short video and decided to watch... It did not disappoint! Thank you for presenting an informative video with such fabulous humor! The fact that I am a woman, about to do repairs on my car, while married to a perfectly capable yet not mechanically inclined husband...lets just say the irony of this video was not lost on me!

  • This is a great video. There are plenty of men, as well as women, who don't know how to change a wheel. The only thing I'd mention at about 1:40 is that if your weight isn't enough to unstick a wheel nut/bolt, give the wheel-brace a kick. It was a lot easier with old-style starting-handle wheel-braces, which had a double crank with an offset section, because you held the remote end and pulled up as you pressed/kicked down with your foot on the cranked section. But a modern T-shaped wheelbrace still allows the stand/kick technique, though be very careful the wheel-brace doesn't pull off the nut/bolt. I wonder if you should have mentioned explicitly how important it is to leave the dead wheel in contact with the road (as you did) until you've loosened the bolts slightly: it saves the embarrassing problem (especially on the front wheel of a rear-wheel drive car) where neither the handbrake nor the car being in gear/park will stop the wheel rotating; the only way to stop the wheel rotating is to have a helper to press the footbrake or else leave the wheel on the ground. It is human nature to jack up the wheel immediately - yes, I did it as well the first time ;-) That scissor jack is a lot better than the one provided with my Peugeot because the handle is separate from the jack and can be operated at an angle. Mine has a very puny handle which is permanently attached, and can only be used inline with the screw that raises the jack: I often have to turn it half a turn, then rotate it 180 degrees and do another half-turn, because at the lower end of its travel it catches on the ground. As a man, I'm well aware that the worst sin is to patronise any else, especially a woman. When I was in my final year at school, there was a very attractive woman teacher who had just started. I was cycling home one day and saw her car jacked up by the side of the road. I stopped to see if she needed any help, or whether she was doing fine (ie don't assume she's helpless!). I offered to change her wheel for her if she was in a tearing hurry to get home, or else to let her do it with me offering helpful advice if she needed it. She chose the latter. I earned a lot of brownie points (and a very memorable hug and rather chaste kiss!) for the tactful way I handled it. It's a *lot* easier to refit a wheel if the hub uses wheel-bolts that go into holes in the hub, than if (as in your case) the hub has bolts attached and the wheel is attached by nuts: I'm surprised such a recent car still had hub-bolts and wheel-nuts. With wheel-bolts, you can "hang" the wheel on a central protrusion in the hub and then rotate it until the holes line up. With hub-bolts, you have to offer up the wheel with its holes accurately aligned with the hub-bolts, which isn't easy if the wheel is heavy. My grandpa taught me to squat down, knees apart, with my forearms inside my thighs as a brace, so my hands take the weight of the wheel at the 8 and 4 o'clock position, and then use my braced hands to lift the wheel into position. That provoked a certain amount of giggling from the teacher, who said "that's *got* to be a technique devised by a man who isn't wearing a short skirt". Men, be prepared to look away ;-) Good that you mentioned about tightening the nuts/bolts opposite each other, to avoid cyclic stress. All too many videos show people tighening the bolts in sequence, which risks the wheel ending up slightly crooked on the hub. Ideal order is something like 1, 3, 4, 2. With four bolts there will always be one consecutive but at least that's better than all four.
