    • China's mistake is in attempting to out-military America's military by numbers and similar weapons systems. That's why American military refers to them as a "near-peer" threat and not a peer threat. Their technology and expertise all fall short (their fancy hypersonic missiles for example not only can be intercepted but need to know where US fleets are before they can be fired, a simple but relevant fact) and their Soviet-style command structure will undoubtedly lead to the same assumptions and mistakes Russia made in Ukraine. Xi may not want to go down as the leader who lost Taiwan but America knows it can't lose control of the SEA Pacific region to China, and by default it's reputation as the world's only Superpower. While any war over Taiwan would be disastrous for the world economy it will be more disastrous for China's military and the Chinese Communist party's reputation among the Chinese themselves. Just like it was for the Russian army's reputation as the "second strongest army in the world."

    • Of course. What eludes me is the fact that self-proclaimed "elite" can't understand this, their God dollar being too stupid with its radical plutocratic measures (e.g. the "Financial Optimization" doctrine, which in fact promotes technical slavery and off-shore relocation of manufactures toward deregulated or utterly corrupted countries, hence impoverishing our people having much less buying power, per dollar and per average salary). Personally, it's since the end of the 1980's, since China suddenly became from rogue to a "model" in our mass-media and political narratives (while our corrupted gov. of our corporate North America, facilitated such "financial optimization" doctrine in moving everything out there), that I saw this coming, and how much we were engaging into a wrong direction. As much as it felt like weak nihilist whores had taken the helm of our countries (neoliberals+neoconservatives - same "Globalist" gang)...

    • They've been preparing for 70 years This guy makes it sound like a cakewalk. Yes the blockade might be a cakewalk but invading the country would be extremely difficult for China. It's extremely difficult just to do these types of water invasions it's twice as far as the one for D-Day You have to get a lot of ships across the water and like I said taiwan's been preparing for 70 years. Also the geography of Taiwan is very difficult to conquer. It's mostly mountainous even along the beaches there's only a very small amount of beaches an enemy could land to invade. So the firepower of course would be concentrated on those beaches but even before while they're crossing 100 km straight and for the 6 months they're building up equipment Taiwan and America and their allies would know that this is coming. Much more than even in Russia. So as those boats are crossing most of them are getting sunk. Submarines fighter jets bomber jets be bombers aircraft carrier strike groups which include destroyers and other aircraft all of the US Japanese Singapore Philippine and Australian bases as well as further back bases like Guam Mariana's Islands Diego Garcia and much more also if the US were struck first then NATO would be required to fight with the US and they would probably join in anyways at least the UK would and probably France and a couple others would be assisting the US in some way or another most likely militarily because they want to see freedom of navigation of the seas for their industries and trade and also Germany would probably be on the side of the US. So you were basically have most of the free world against China I doubt if Pakistan's going to take the risk or any other stable countries. But North Korea would probably help South Korea would definitely be on the US side and has major bases and an amazing military and firepower to at least combat against North Korea if that becomes a problem and if North Korea stays out of it then they can support with China. I think it would be such a mess for China and so expensive that they wouldn't risk it. If they were to blockade Taiwan we would at a minimum blockade the straits of Hormuz to stop them from getting food or oil and China is the greatest importer in the world of those two things. So yes they could stop Taiwan from getting fuel but we could stop them from as well. They say China would run out in under 3 months. Imagine 1.4 billion people without electricity food etc. Also the threat three gorges dam could be destroyed by Taiwan it's their nuclear option. The water that would flow in would kill over 200 million people potentially destroy Shanghai and many of their factories and industry. China would be put back a hundred years and the sanctions on them they would not be able to get many of the things that they need to keep their industry going and their manufacturing going. Of course it would be economically destructive for the rest of the world but for China it would be the end.

Now that the policy has been lifted, people still aren't having many kids. There, young people are expected to financially support their elders instead of them relying on social programs or retirement plans. So it's already under strain. A war in which hundreds of thousands+ of young Chinese men do not come back from would be an absolute catastrophe for China. That may not wind up stopping the CCP, but they'd be foolish to not take it into consideration when coming up with a plan.

If you go to the beaches, you can see the navy patrolling at all times in war vessels. That said, Taiwan has one of the largest armies based on size. they also have their own version of the iron dome defense system. Beach invasions are difficult. If it was really easy, China would have invaded by now. Personally, I think it would be a horrible decision on China's part. The West makes WAY too much money because of taiwan...and i can see the appeal. but unless china breaks a deal with the US for cheaper chipsets and all that I don't think Chinas willing to start a world war for an island.

    • I certainly hope not - for everyone's sake. China has several problems: An aging population (due to the disastrous '1 kid Max policy') and it is very dependent on the West for income. Even if hypothetically it invades Taiwan and the US and its allies don't intervene and China succeeds in annexing Taiwan, it would be reduced to doing trade with a failing Russia, Iran and North Korea. It would become a total pariah in the region and the greater world. Is that worth it for Taiwan, even without the military losses and risks? Highly unlikely.

    • China and Taiwan are brothers. China loves peace and never interfere with the internal affairs of other countries. But if Taiwan succeed from China which the whole world recognise as part of China, she'll have no choice but pay any price to prevent the country from breaking up. The US is calculating if she'll push China to invade Taiwan to hold on to her dominance of the world and contain a rising China and using her mighty media outlets to propagate the narrative that China is aggressive. Imagine China instigating civil war in America between the two political parties in America to breakup America. What would the US do.?

"pride" "It's ours", etc. FUCK.. how many deaths, wars, living in poverty, etc does a tiny fraction of people need to live through before they feel like maybe they want a little bit better life? IT's just so stupid.

Have we solved all our problems in the west and are trying to make the world a better place? This is how wars start, with propaganda like this which makes us look like we are protecting some BS rights we don’t even have in our own nation. Want to avoid war? • If China ever decide to invade Taiwan (which I doubt very much they will do), and U.S. decides to engage in war, there is basically no way U.S. can win that war. It is basically very similar to the Ucrania Russia situation. The equation is simple: 1 - What is the strongest military force in the world? U.S., no doubt about that. 2 - BUT, and that is a very big but, Taiwan is basically on China's border. That means the logistical cost to keep the war going is a lot higher on U.S. side. 3 - Now, how long would China engage in that war? If they actually decide to start it, they will keep it basically forever, they will keep on as long as their mainland territory doesn't get invaded/bombarded/destroyed, 4 - Well, so happens that U.S. simply cannot invade China's mainland territory, since that would lead to a nuclear war. China is basically untouchable. At some point, when U.S. starts to lose that (hipotethical) war, they will blame Taiwan, they will state Taiwan leaders are corrupt, incompetent, Taiwan soldiers just can't handle modern weapons, stuff like that. Just like they are doing do Ucrania right now. Forget the fact that U.S. (should know) could not win that war from the beggining (just using basic logic, anyone can tell that). So the decision to engage in that war will basically cost thousands, maybe millions of lives, U.S. citizens lives? No, of course not. Tawanese lives, Ucranian lives. Those are ok to spend. Must be great to play "war games" with other countries population.

    • @@JimBoom92 I don't understand how that's relevant. I just asked why only the US is concerned about China, if the entire global economy is at stake.

  • I appreciate the analysis this video offers. I do disagree about the greatest threats in new weapons, it's not AI and newer missiles people need to worry about, it's DEWs. Major DEW strikes can do the damage of a nuclear warhead but leave the ground underneath in tact for redevelopment. China and Russia and USA all have DEWs that can perform a major strike anywhere in the world. Things may escalate to the point those weapons are used as the strongest show of force and final deterrent to a nuclear Armageddon. Learn more about DEWs because once the world sees those deployed there will be no going back. Also a major EMP strike to know out a power grid will debilitate any modern civilization as life without electricity would even disrupt clean water sources. My advice to avoid all this is to seek peace by promoting technical advancements that benefit everyone, like a better Internet system or 3D printed homes for everyone, that everyone can afford. It won't stop people from doing crappy things, but if enough people focus on doing good things instead of crappy things we can hopefully win out for humanity's sake.

    • 'A better internet system' You mean, no internet? And how is a 3d printed home going to be affordable for Everyone?

      @fleshbag7754@fleshbag77545 ай бұрын
    • No. I mean the next Internet, the Internet is constantly being worked on to expand new capabilities. Quantum Internet is what I am referring to. 3D printed homes are thought to cost at least 1/3 less than traditional home building, this with modular (not mobile) home building techniques + government buy-in are what will likely make homes affordable for many again. Research 3D and Modular homes to learn more.@@fleshbag7754

  • China has made substantial military and space investments, but their economy is tanking very fast. Just like the USSR, their economy could run out of steam well before the start of the next world war.

    • Really? Where is the evidence? I read that the European and US economy is in bad shape too. Some European countries are currently in recession but China is not in a recession. Just because some big Chinese companies (especially in the construction sector) is doing badly doesn’t mean that the country is in bad shape. Western pundits have been forecasting the downfall of the Chinese economy for the last 30 years. It defies logic why the West is eager to heap bad things on China when it is not wishing bad things on them.

    • I think you should compare the military investment of China and the United States with the increase in GDP, as long as you are not a fool

  • I have been unable to find sanction in dictionaries or other sources for pronouncing Taiwan to rhyme with 'I can' (whether in the US or UK). So will you please teach your robot to say it correctly? Tip: Do a search & replace of your script, swapping out Taiwan for _tie-wan._ The bot should take the cue and use the pronunciation of the word _wan_ ('pale from exhaustion or illness').
