Three 240Hz+ IPS Monitors VS. The KING! ULTIMATE 240Hz Monitor Comparison!

2024 ж. 21 Мам.
226 139 Рет қаралды

I bought and tested 3 240Hz+ IPS monitors to see which one was best. Also comparing it to my 3 year old BenQ Zowie XL2540, are they good enough to replace the KING of 240Hz?
WARNING: DO NOT use the pictures I used in the motion blur (Alien) test on any of my currently uploaded monitor reviews, those examples were presented incorrectly. Please use references from a reputable review source such as RTINGS.com. I have educated myself on the proper way of testing monitors and will use the proper test method in all upcoming reviews. I apologize for any issues this may have caused. As a one man team, it's hard to peer review. You guys are my peer review. Thank you to those who pointed out and helped educate me on my mistakes. You know who you are.

SPOILER: All 3 IPS monitors were not up to my expectations. After watching the finished video (Before uploading) I thought to myself, maybe I should just shelf the video because of how much of a Zowie fanatic I sound and people will think I don't know what I'm talking about. As I stated in the end of the video, I just go for the best no matter what product I'm buying.
I truly think that the Zowie is still the best and the advantages the IPS monitors provide are not as important as the advantages the Zowie provides.

  • HDR 400 is a certification that implies / specifies that the monitor can interpret an HDR signal and you can expect the monitor to display a peak brightness of 400 nits. HDR content such as HDR movies and television are mastered at 1000 nits and require a display capable of reaching at least near that 1000 nits to properly display the content as it was mastered. the HDR 400 display will have a higher peak brightness than and SDR display so it is able to achieve a more HDR effect than an SDR display and does remap the HDR data to its lower peak brightness. It cant be considered full HDR however due to the fact that it cant display the content as mastered.

  • As a someone who's not very tech savvy, I'd like to know whether if the difference of response time by 1-5 ms is noticeable? Furthermore, I understand that the Zowie is still king but is the difference between the Zowie and something else that noticeable? My preferred monitor would be a 240hz monitor with focus on content consumption with competitive capabilities as I do like playing competitive FPS games but at the same time I also enjoy visually stunning RPG games (Witcher 3 and so on) and like to watch movies. Really love the amount of detail put into the video and your responsiveness to the community, keep up the great work!

    @damonlove8@damonlove84 жыл бұрын
    • Thank you! I unfortunately cannot tell you how to calibrate it because every panel is not going to perform the exact same way. So I may end up ruining what you see if I give you my ICC profile. However, what I recommend is finding what looks good to your eyes then saving that for content consumption. For gaming, all I do is adjust the Black Equalizer to the max, Gamma if needed and color vibrance if needed.

    • Congrats Zowie owner, how are the colors comparing to your IPS monitor? Being honest :)

    • @@renzoarana3018 I mean, it's no IPS... but after it warms up for 30 minutes and the contrast/gamma corrections made in the Nvidia control panel (47% Contrast, 91 Gamma, 53 Vibrance).. it's pretty damn good. For a TN panel.. it's definitely one of the best you can buy and looks even better at 120hz. I'm using the Zowie XL2430 Switch 144hz.

    • @@Aliothale My God , what an excellent seller! You literally sold me the monitor :O Thank you very much for your valious feedback. On different sites say that stock calibration is horrible. Do you use too the ICC profile calibration from rtings.com ?

    • @@renzoarana3018 Out of the box you will need to adjust the gamma down to the lowest amount (5) in the OSD, and then make additional tweaks in your Nvidia control panel to turn the gamma down slightly farther. Every panel is different, so I can't give you an exact amount, but in the NVCP I would recommend aiming for 89-94 gamma, a slight vibrance boost to brighten up yellows.. 53 is the highest I'd go, and 45-47% contrast to even out some darker areas. I do not use color profiles, just a default sRGB which works fine. I did adjust the panel color slightly, 98/100/100. The vibrance boost makes other colors look better but tends to overkill the reds a bit so I turn the red down slightly so skin colors don't look too reddish. Overall the picture quality is great, your eyes will adjust.. when compared to an IPS it does look a bit duller in color.. but for competitive gaming and casual media Zowie makes the best TN panels out there. I do photography and graphics design, so I do care very much about picture quality, and this is as honest as it gets. I would not use it for editing, but I do enjoy it for casual KZhead and TV show watching.

    • @@Aliothale Awesome feedback!, thank you very much, I will do all that setting. I just want to have the same or a better display than a laptop I ve sold days ago, is a X1 Extreme Thinkpad and has this IPS display: imgur.com/86viC1e, do you think the Zowie has better display? I think yes :D 91.1% srGB 58.8% Adobe RGB Are these two factors the most important to define the color quality of a display?

  • Holy moly that's some hard work and a lot of research on your part. THANKS! I've been loooking for this for so long, a comparison video without any bullshit-shilling twist built in it, that is well researched and super informative like this one. You earned a sub for sure! btw, what do you think about the newest XL2546S? would you review it as well?

    @Daiki_Aomine@Daiki_Aomine4 жыл бұрын
    • Thanks man! For the XL2546S, I'm very interested in testing it out. I plan on testing that as well as a bunch of other IPS 240 hz displays I haven't tried yet, but that'll all have to wait until the pandemic is over sine I can't find them anywhere except the retailer website.

    • @@BijanJamshidi I've read that the "DyAc+" works the same as "DyAc" but the only difference being is that it was re-built to work better and smoother with the 0.5ms (GtG) Respone time to produce more accurate frames. Anyway, I'm looking forward for the review in the future.

  • it's strange that the acer one is only 300 usd in my region, asus cost around 330 usd and zowie cost around 510 usd. Which is why i bought the acer one, didnt regret, i never use a tn panel before but i used to own a 60hz ips from dell, going form 60 to 240 is insane.

  • I've gone from an Acer Predator 27" 1440p, 165hz TN monitor, to the new Alienware AW2521HF 25" 1080p 240hz IPS monitor and I'm very happy that I did. Extra refresh rate, better colours, same response time and only slightly reduced pixel density.
