I bleached my hair to get it light enough for bright red box dye and now I'm struggling with bond building masks to restore it. You can bleach your hair, but it definitely adds unnecessary damage when you use a box dye over it because of the peroxide and ammonia. I just ordered the Xmondo "super red" color depositing healing mask. For fashion colors, I think it's a better idea to use bleach and then stick with semi permanent colors. Especially Brad's stuff since it has bond builders in the color.

Ive been cutting and dyeing my own hair for about 10 years now but I do own all of the right tools. Buying a box of 500 pre cut foils, using scales to measure your lightener and having cutting and thinning shears ✂️ helps A LOT!! Also learning formulations helps too, like knowing you can use a level 7 toner with a 6 volume developer so it is deposit only and NO LIFT.
You should go beauty school you be really good as a hair dresser you seem very patient to ❤ we need more like you for hair stylist I miss mines sense I moved

Also been doing mine for ages. Always do demi-perm (Ion) fashion colors, and am a medium/dark blond natural, I learned ages ago use 20 volume and powdered Lightner. Matches well with the speed I can go & when you get a packet, it's just use the whole small bottle of developer so no measuring. -- of course, I apply it all wrong and dont separate the hair good enough, but if you rub everything in good enough, and use so much amount of bleach, it will get into all the hair. -- and the cheapest color remover for fashion color is crappy shampoo and a bit of time.

Yea, blonde is fun for a bit … but I love the dark hair more lol. I’ll cut and chop on my hair til the cows come home, but I’ve learned to leave it alone when it comes to color. Feels so much nicer and I’ve gotten way more compliments on it just being natural and healthy as opposed to any other color I’ve done before.
@@TwoBs I had a phase where I wanted to go much lighter, my hair was damaged and I would always have pieces of hair falling off everywhere. Then I saw on Pinterest pictures of girls with really long, shiny, dark hair and I started regretting messing with my natural color. 🥲

I can only imagine how difficult it is to separate and bleach paper thin sections ON YOURSELF with no help, that's why no one does it 😅 I have 3 years of experience cutting my own hair and sectioning it is still really annoying lol.
Yeah I think I have only ever seen a video of one person self section fully whole self dyeing rainbow hair-- and yes they were a stylist themselves and were basically flexing lol.
If I decide to bleach my hair ever again, I'll be saving my money to go to the best professional I can find!

I don't understand why no one does color removers for their box dye before bleaching. Color Oops works well, is affordable, non-damaging, and is right next to all the box dye. 😌

Yes! When I used to dye my hair auburn red I always did a color remover so the color would be more vibrant if I was darker previously.
Color Oops turned my hair blue 😂💀
It smells SO BAD though. Like makes me smell like a rotten egg for a week
I used ColorOops back when I colored my hair and the box dye bleached my roots and for some reason I thought it would only remove the box dye and leave my natural hair 🤣🤣 I was strawberry blond for a day and then colored it a permanent box dye that perfectly matched my hair. Never touched my hair again 🤣

I love watching these videos. Makes me think back one of my college days. My friend wanted to dye her hair and asked if I could help her. I had never dyed hair before. She's like "oh you're mixed so you're probably the most qualified so think of it like a relaxer, but not a touchup." 😅. We had quite a bit to drink as everyone gathered around. Surprisingly it looked really good and even. I honestly thought it was a fluke that i pulled it off and every time she'd asked for me to do it again I'd just say leave it to the professionals...i knew better than to touch already processed and dyed hair haha.

Dear fellow gingers, your brassy coppery orange heads are beautiful 🧡 its hard not to feel sad when people complain about their bleaching fails when they use words which are used to describe our hair too. Im not talking about just this video, it happens in practically every bleaching video. (There's a difference between complaining that you didnt achieve your goal colour or that the colour is patchy or just generally not nice, and then there's complaining that your ginger)
Thing is it just doesn't look good against most people's skin tones, it's definitely only for people who have that colouring naturally xx
Srly! I am in LOVE with my henna! It didn't pop on my dark hair until I bleached and the henna popped out so brick orange! I was in love with the color! It's annoying when ppl just complain about brassiness and don't seem to realize orange/ginger/redheads or hennaheads are a whole thing on its own that can loved and appreciated!
Agreed. It's a little frustrating seeking EVERY lightning video talk about it being the end of the world if their hair is ginger. It feels the same way when I hear "I don't want to look pale and sickly. I want to look tan and healthy" in loads of makeup videos. It's easy to say what look you're going for without dissing other people's hair and skin tone.
What's forever puzzling to me is that some of the people in the videos know and watch Brad's videos, listen to his advices and mention them in their own videos and then don't actually apply them properly. This is pain (but also more entertaining content for us, I guess)
