Everyone: 6 minutes in, he's not saying it. 7 minutes in -Are we filming, yes
I could cry when looking at my like dislike ratio. I have so many jealous people that my videos always get way more dislikes than likes. Please don't be jealous, dear ya
@@AxxLAfriku They're not jealous, they're in disgust. I watched your latest video and it is HORRIBLE. You've earned my dislike!
@@AxxLAfriku i'm sure they're not jealous, you are just painfully unfunny.
@@AxxLAfriku thats some old school newgrounds shit right there bro
That Taiwan guess was absolutely mental
GET INNNNN
Was I the only one who swore it was the US
@@catherinedriver4565 Could have very well have been Texas, but the way the pylons looked made me question it for some reason
@Tyler USA had a lot of influence on Taiwan after WW2 all the way into the 1980s
Wires, cement, some brush - must be Taiwan! Only GeoWizard. Epic.
If you ever make merchandise make one shirt say “wait, are we filming?” “Yep”
I wonder how often he says "wait, are we filming?” “nope”. And we just don't see it
@@japanbeta LMAO
Get...in!
How the hell did you guess Taiwan?!
I ask the same question every time...
Because he is not human. It's a living GPS.
The hint was the Chinese looking writing on the pylon, red sign (looked more brown on the video with haze). There is a good chance he subconsciously clocked that.
He travels a lot and has good photographic memory. A sec before he clicked near Frankfurt I guessed - eh, could be Bonn - just because I once passed through Bonn.
@@colesym84 Also I feel like the way the pylons are inserted into the ground is a very brutalist way of doing things, a type of architecture which more often than not screams Japan or Japan-like countries. Since they are driving on the right, Taiwan is a good guess.
Tip on how to deferentiate Sweden from other Scandinavian countries : you can see ä and ö in swedish, whereas they do not appear in danish or norwegian ( æ and ø instead )
Also, the segments of the dashed line on the side of the road are much smaller than in norway.
The center line between opposing traffic is yellow in Norway, as opposed to Sweden and Finland.
@@mothgru Thats not entirely true, there is the occasional yellow line in Finland, but i haven't figured out what rules are behind this.
@@mothgru Finland isn't scandinavian tho
@@SGSOnlineTV Yellow lines are used to indicate whether passing is allowed or not. Well they used to be anyways, as we got a new traffic law this year and the lines are now white to be on par with other EU countries (for autonomous cars and the such it's easier if the lines are the same in all countries).
I thought you didn’t have a shirt on 😂
Don’t blame him. It’s fooking hot (well it was)
@@elliot7753 don't jinx it
Same lol
Same
The missing border between Argentina and Chile is a result of a border dispute over the Southern Patagonian Ice Field! Both countries claim different territory. I know Google normally indicates border disputes with a dotted line so it's weird that there's none here. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Patagonian_Ice_Field#Controversy
glad to see you back Tom. Hope Norway was a success. a new GW video always brightens the day
in france, the arrows to signal a turn on the highway are blue and white. good luck next time, it was a really a good episode.
Ya, I was confused because the signage wasn't what I associate with France, Switz, or Italy. The Red-White turning are like Austria-Poland but I was trusting Tom that it was between his three.
Are we recording? Edit: ah we went for "filming" instead today!
If you ever get any merch this what it should say.
Sole Survivor flashbacks
"I'm ecstatic and shocked," he said calmly
That Chile-guess xD
Taiwan was better but still both were insane
Leo M Chile was better
@@LM-dv8pv I placed this comment when I hadn't seen the Taiwan-one yet, but that one was quite epic, too 😂
@@r-series8705 Taiwan was definitely a way better guess. Absolutely insane. Even though it might not be a high score, I'd nominate to put it in Insane Guesses. Based on the limited features giving away the country. All he had to go off was: Driving on the right, Green traffic signs and a massive highwire. This was crazy.
Tom is like the most human human. He’s ascended. He just knows this world.
"I'm in a field... There's a pylon... There's a motorway... that doesn't help Oh, a green sign. I must be in Taiwan"
That Taiwan guess was absolutely insane!
Austria loves their flag so much that they even use the same colors on the highway signs.
"That's gotta be Sweden, we got a Subaru"
Had me giggle
5:55 I had a little look at this area on Google Maps to see where there wasn’t a border and it looks like it’s because it’s a massive ice field with a couple of outlet glaciers
"Campos de hielo sur"
That limit is not marked yet. Argentina and Chile's governments have been working on it since 1998...
Youre partly correct, its an ongoing border dispute. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/47/Southern_Patagonian_Ice_Field_border.svg
When I see tall pylons and the highway ,I have the feeling that it might be some place in Taiwan, but I’m not quite sure. I’m Taiwanese and I live in Taichung City ,so the location is actually pretty close to where I live!! You’re absolutely amazing to get the correct answer , what a Geography GOD
My favorite part about these videos is when you explain how you figured out what country the locations are in, I honestly find it educational and I've learned quite a lot from your videos :D
The immense amount of knowledge and ultra logical deduction makes for a hell of a content.
So glad you're back safe! From your non-thrilled tone I guess you didn't make it, but the videos are bound to be massively entertaining anyway. Can't wait.
@@zwickflixproductions4379 What even counts as crossing an entire country anyway? Couldn't he find some narrow point like a peninsula somewhere and still claimed to have crossed it?
@@reepicheepsfriend I reckon some sort of criteria like the line has to have roughly 50% of the country's surface area to either side of it. Maybe 30-50% on either side.
Leah C my guess is he crossed close to Narvik in northern Norway, where the fjord stretches so far inland that the distance to the Swedish border is only a few kilometres despite being close to the middle of the country length-wise
Wow you had so many crazy ones, could almost be an insane guess episode in itself! Tom your geoguessr stuff is always a joy!
Watching the sweden one, recognised it and realised I have lived less than 200 meter from the location. The world is pretty small sometimes 😅 crazy guesses by the way👍👍
I would have nailed the spot within a few 100 meters ;)
Really?;)
@@Brainy09 yes
Hope all went well in Norway, glad to see you back! :)
Quick tip on how to deferentiate Italy and Switzerland: on Italian roads, in corners, the center line is always continuous (unless it's a very slight curve), while in Switzerland they keep the dotted line (like in the case of the video)
Yeeaaaas man... I was craving ffor a new video of yours Tom! Thanks again!
I’ve found myself binging the 10 country challenge this weekend and think it’s my favorite game mode you play. Would love to see more like this!
Dude, that Chile guess and several others were just sick. Awesome.
Great video - as always - and welcome back. See you sometimes struggling with whether a country is NO/DK or SE, but there is an easy hint: The Swedish alphabet has the letters "Ö" & "Ä" in it and the others don't. On the other hand, "Ø" & "Æ" are strictly Danish/Norwegian. :)
Finally, Austria! You should do perfect score Austria once you're back from your adventures :)
Absolutely incredible game! And the working out on some of these was brilliant!
Welcome back brother. Can't wait for Norway series.
WOW I love this.. Absolute legend. I would love to bump into you travelling.
Funfact - Gmünd, last guess, thats the town where Porsche made their first cars :)
Enjoy watching your videos immensely, Tom. I've learnt quite a bit from you, when it comes to Geogussr education. Alas, the only thing that remains is for me to take you up on a challenge. See you very soon ;) Lots of love, mate. Wish you continued safe, and mad adventures
Insane Chile guess on first click
Dude, you’re crazy good at these. You also got me into this game so thanks!
Great video! Glad to see you are putting good effort into this kind of content, considering all the other projects you are working on atm :)
Good to have you back, amazing guesses mate
I just found your channel and this is just that content that i want to watch. I have searched this kind of channel while and now i found it. Greetings From Finland thanks
15:15 wasn't surprised because the video has like 9 more minutes
he could have started another game too...
Got into playing after finding your videos last week. Just played my first World game and got a perfect score!
Wow, that Taiwan guess was insane. I would've have guessed Europe for that one! You blow our minds all the time
Well done mate, some amazing guesses there
2:30 British Tom: "ViLlaFranCa dE lA SiErrA, the most Spanish name possible I think." Absolutely love watching you trying to imitate a Spanish accent 😂
Beast of a game mate. Real impressive stuff
16.12 I knew immediately we were on the San Bernardino road towards Bellinzona in the south of Switzerland since we take it two to three times a year. Thus I was really on the edge of my seat following you getting this so well! Congrats to this one as well all the other insane guesses where in most of them I would have been whole continents off!
Well done, I was on the edge of my seat on the san bernardino guess. I'm from switzerland and thus knew exactly where it was.
Haha! I recognized Austria :D.... though that's the only one. Those green walls on the side of the autobahn are very recognizeable
That have been said already, but I have to pile on: your Taïwan guess was juste INSANE ! SO very well done. By the way, next time for Africa, if you see one of the Google camera poles with black tape on the end, you can guess 'Ghana' without thinking ;-) Stay amazing and welcome back ! (an sorry for that "not France" guess: our arrow signs for curves are white and blue, never red)
Hold the eff up! At 6:12 he zooms in on a place called Estancia Helsingfors! Helsingfors is the official Swedish name for Helsinki, the capital of Finland, where I live. What on earth is that city name doing in ARGENTINA?! I could not believe my eyes! (And yes, most older cities in Finland have an official Swedish name since both Finnish and Swedish are official languages here)
WTF was that Taiwan guess my dude! Next level!
Its weird how my rate of guessing along has improved just a couple days after finding this channel :D Had germany, sweden and italy even earlier than tom (although of course i have no pressure to do good whatsoever :D)
some insane guesses here, great video
Can't wait for the Norway mission!
Very good game. I had austria.. But im french so that was easy to know we were not there. Our sign for virage is blue not red
You just went in my hometown and the street I love in. That kind of made me jump :O
22:46 "but there is No(r)way we're in Norway"
Glad to have you back mate! Can you turn up your mic for future videos btw :) Also I really liked that Geodetective challenge! Keep up the lovely content man! EDIT: What a way to start your comeback video! 3:23, very impressive!
The Chile and Taiwan guesses were spectacular
Well done but good luck for next time your vids are awesome
Welcome back!
Very nice games today mate :) Keep it up
Best youtube channel out there.
Instantly recognized my home city, lol. Greetings from Bonn!
Ur insane lad! Keep it up
To make you feel a bit better: 3:23 - You click right next to a sort of a lake. The place you're changing it to is closer by than the first click - But wow! What impressive
I would watch one of these everyday
Can't wait for the Norway videos. I wonder which part of the country you were crossing. I guess it's not where it's at its broadest! My guess is somewhere in the region of Nordland.
I KNEW I recognized those white arrows on the red background. And I'm just realizing that they might be uniquely Austrian. Anyway, well done, mate.
Taiwanese here, that's a incredible guess at the 13th round! I could easily recognize my own country of course but wow! what a good guess!
The Chile Argentina missing border is due to long-running territorial dispute. In order to solve the problem amicably, I suggest Britain claims the area.
Of course, along with the surrounding area. It's not really much - only a radius of 500km
15:20 Lived in Taiwan for a long time. They put their electrical pylons on top of large concrete plinths because of possible flooding and storm surge from typhoons. and the angled concrete wall is common next to the ocean.
Tom: We're stuck in a back alley... Tom 2 seconds later: We're in a Spain
8:15 Whoa, I walked down that street just three weeks ago. I don't live there. Had never been there before. It's right next to the old castle grounds, and quite a huff to get to from Tokyo. There's a nice rice cracker store that sells specialty pistachio and almond rice cakes.
I love the insane guesses compilations you do, have you thought of doing an insanely bad guesses video? Maybe when you were way off or maybe just close calls?
Holy shit! That Nagasaki one is a road I drive every day to go to work. It's less than a mile from my apartment. Seriously tripped me out when I saw it.
Wow, need to go back to practicing more! What an effort!
In the Chile one, you were actually further away on your first click, so you actually made the right choice with the last moment change.
That Taiwan guess was epic! I doubt anyone other than Taiwanese know that it’s our place there in that round 😂
The Taiwan guess was simply brilliant.
you're good on chile, the first guess looked further away
really nice guess in Chile there brotha
That portion of the Chile/Argentina border hasn't been defined. Haven't found an official reason but someone on Reddit said this: If I recall correctly the treaty defined the border as the peak of the mountains, where the water flows in a specific direction. They hadn’t actually been to the peak yet at that point in history, though, and didn’t realize that the point that directs the water flow is not the peak, making the original definition contradictory. The countries maintain good relations so it hasn’t been a contentious issue.
Actually an interesting fact. This American learned something cool today
When you got the round in Germany I didn't even have to look twice..I legit walked down that road like an hour ago... 😅 Also regarding Scandinavia (and probably some people have commented that before) : the letter ö and ä is only used in Sweden and Finland, Denmark and Norway use Æ and Ø instead!
12:23 Upon seeing the shape of the tower and the appearance of the road (and road sign), I guessed that it would be China... but I thought it would be somewhere like Hebei. I can't even beat this channel in my own familiar place, jeez.
i love this guy
The realisation that we won't ever hear a "filming?!?! NO."
Tom "Filming?" davies
15:30 I was not surprised at all. It was kinda obvious that they raised up power lines due to flooding. Thus there's also a flood wall over there it seems. I thought it could be the Netherlands but then I had this thought that why the Netherlands if there's no big tsunamis in Europe etc. so I said "Japan!" out loud literally 2 secs before you said it. Nailing Taiwan not my league lol gg
Great game. Best format.
I have to say as an austrian it wasn't hard to guess the last one but I would've never survived to this point anyway so respect
Taiwan deserves to be in the next insane guesses, unreal content
"Grado". As a swede, this is possibly the funniest pronunciation I've ever heard of a swedish word.
5:22 this is likely a Santana licensed build of a Land Rover Series III, judging by the wheel arches... for sure not a Defender, much earlier (narrow axle, leaf springs)
Tom, can you do a 0 point challenge?
He has done a few of those. But it'd be cool to see it revisited.
I’ve actually driven on that road in Switzerland once!!
3:57 you changing your guess was actually closer! Your first guess was almost twice the distance away up the road near the more roundish lake so good thing you changed!
