  • I absolutely love barred owls, lots of them in MO and KS, if I'm deer hunting and don't see a thing but hear a pair hooting back and forth looking for each other I'm more than satisfied with my hunt. COuld listen to them for hours.

  • We have a pair of these owls in our neighborhood. The male was in our pecan tree all day. He would exchange calls with his mate throughout the day. Fun to figure out what type of owl they were.

  • Got to watch a couple of these one morning while turkey hunting. Didnt matter if i had got a bird that day or not. Seeing the 2 owls was amazing and 30 yrs later i can still see it clearly in my head.

    • Haha, ditto. A couple of other hunters got mad at me for making all that owl racket. I was like, those were owls 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

  • I adore barred owls. I had a pair that nested in my front yard that used to fly down and sit with me when I gardened at night (it helps to have a spotlight in your yard lol)

  • We have a pair - I see them about once a week. The female is SO much bigger. But they sounds like monkeys and at times( like your vid) SOOOO loud! I love it! And every late winter we find the baby feathers!! But still never been lucky enough to see the 🐣

    @CA-lf7jt@CA-lf7jt3 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah, the female is about a third bigger. Barred owls are becoming suburban adapted in the Houston area. Dumpster rats in a city built in a swamp are just too tempting. Flood retention ponds are perfect habitat. I have heard many mated pairs making their war calls I can hear them as I am posting this. I haven't seen a barred owl since last fall, but I hear them every week.

  • I’ve got a pair of Barred Owls out back...damn...they’re beautiful...but LOUD!! Heard them getting it on....sounded like alley cats in heat fighting hooting ducks lol

    @666HorrorShock@666HorrorShock4 жыл бұрын
    • The "getting it on" sounds are a territorial display of a mated pair. It's a male and female going all out against other pairs you probably can't hear. It's aggressive, but it's a pair working together.

  • It reminds of the sound those monkeys make, whose necks swell out when they call. And some make a bass tone and some do a high sound on top exactly like the barred owls, growing in volume and woo-hooing at the top! Very exciting & terrifying at the same time!

  • Question I hear this sound that you here in 2 minutes and 24 seconds in. In sounds almost like little primates, baby money's doing their Wah ah ah...(sorry I work with Exotics and that's the only way I knew how to type that) do you know what that noise means? I Foster and rehabilitate some Wildlife for the state of North Carolina I do not deal with any Aviary but I have Four Confirmed Nests from owls on my property and I hear that Money Waa a aaa sound Frequently.

  • The blue jays in the background are not amused. I did some barred owl calls recently to try and attract real owls and instead I drew in the wrath of some blue jays that mobbed me. I guess my calls are realistic.
