Just bought this vehicle and I’m so grateful that you were able to explain everything in such great detail and test drive it for us. Subbed and liked! Looking forward to more
I actually appreciate your reviews. Very thorough and if I ever need or want info on a vehicle you are a good source. I know this isn't your favorite thing. But you are excellent at this. Over time if you continue on this route you'll build a name being the 'go to source' for anyone thinking of buying a car. You do so many of these. And so professional and thorough. You are good at this. You really are. One of the best I've seen on KZhead.
Thanks :)
Kenny great work I like this canyon line I like this one and Denali not sure what one to buy
really love your reviews just wished u'd make time stamps
Great review Kenny! I mean for the $$ that is a lot of truck and well equipped. I love the way it looks too. I wonder what is up with only one pocket in the rear instead of 2? Noticing that more often now. Anyhow hope that you are doing great!
It is kinda weird isn't it?
I’m actually looking to get a. AT4 Next year I like the new body style and Features I currently have a Gladiator and to get a new one with the features I want would be almost 60,000. You get a lot more for your money with the GMC Canyon nice review 👍👍
Canyon>Gladiator
Amazing job Kenny & this is my daily truck.
Thanks man
Awesome job Kenny.
Elevation?..blech...give me a AT4...oh, wait, I took delivery of my ''24 Dynamic Blue AT4 last month WITH Trailering Package a month ago, following an 8 month wait after my custom order...I love it...
I own one. I like it !
Me too.2023 Elevation, black on black with about 4k in options. 9k miles with no problems except a small recall on front collision camera which was fixed at the Dealership today and only 35 minutes to fix it. Best truck of the year award in Motor trend Magazine, in the may issue.
My 2024 Elevation (1100 miles) is currently at the dealership for the denting roof issue (From the carwash air blower), an oil leak, and the check engine light was on. The adaptive cruise warning light also went on and had to be cleared. Other than that it's been very dependable...EDIT 5/6/24- still in the shop- waiting on a backordered part since the transmission needed to be dropped in order to fix one of the 2 leaks. Yay me. I have asked GMC to replace the truck and they have told me to pound sand
That’s a lot of issues. The roof was damaged just going through a car wash? That’s ridiculous.
lol that sucks but hey, it's still fewer problems than I had with my 2016 Tacoma shortly after I bought it. There was some recall for the adaptive cruise for a software update. Might want to make sure that gets done. Where is the oil leak?
I have a 2017 Tacoma with 135k miles thats been bulletproof. The oil leak looks to be from the seal of the oil pan (nothing to do with the filter of drain plug
Shame that spray-in bedliner isn't standard and other thing is missing N/A engine on the offer. Greetings
It's not running right now, but in our driveway is a 74 chevy c10 long bed with a 350. It's rear wheel drive, and wouldn't spin a tire pulling a 24 foot pontoon boat from the 80s right out of the water. When we get it back running correctly I wonder how it would compete with this truck.
I love the C10! If you ever want to get rid of it - please let me know.. Lol
@@703Speed it's a steel bodied tank. It's not the fastest, but it will pull very well. I do love the tough look of the elevation, and hopefully the motor will do well.
Can you get sunroof?
I almost bought this because I’m not into gigantic trucks. And it looks great. After weeks of contemplating I ended up with a 24 Tacoma trd sports.. not a fan of the 4 cylinder turbo for these new trucks but I’m impress at how it seems to have good torque and power. It came down to if I’m paying almost 50k plus out the door , I’m going Toyota for these new turbo engines.
I've heard Toyota has had their fair share of issues with their new 4 cylinder
@@703SpeedExactly. The GM 2.7L has so far been pretty solid. People are biased towards it being a 4 cylinder and not reliable. The engine was built to diesel standards and the internals are very strong. The 2.7 is more reliable than a lot of engines out there.
Actually. The engine has been in the Silverado for a couple years now. So the longevity of the engine is (kinda) proven..
Nice
Great Vid :)
Wait until the piano black shifter area turns into a mess. Wait until the turning signal quits. Working like most of them are doing.
So just like the 3rd gen Taco's gloss plastic that scratches if you look at it? Sucks to hear about the turn signals. Reminds me of my 3rd gen Taco experiences. Actually, I would have loved to only have turn signal switch issues. Go learn why the 3rd gen Tacoma is called the turd gen and why a minor thing like a turn signal switch would be a nothing problem for some of us.
It's beautiful, it's quick, it's price competitive. But... Q.D.R. is suspect, it's price/option quirky, and with 5' only bed, it makes the Ridgeline more appealing for anything but serious off roading. And doesn't the Colorado z71 come with a 2 speed transfer case?
Yes - Z71 has the 2 speed transfer case
QDR suspect? Having owned a 2016 Tacoma, I don't see how it would be any worse than the Toyota. We nicknamed the 3rd gen Taco the "turd gen" due to all the issues it's. There are new issues that have cropped up since I got rid of mine out of frustration. The Ridgeline is fine if you never plan on leaving pavement. If you take it off-road much, it's very hard on the AWD system and you have to start changing the fluid much more often (like every 20k or 30k miles) or risk damaging it. Quite a few have needed a new torque converter due to this. A 2-speed transfer case is available in both trucks, but is not standard in some cheaper trims that aren't really purchased with offroading in mind.
@@karlschauff7989 sure. I'll play. How long are the GM 8L90 transmissions lasting this year? Has your overnight forced software upgrade drained your battery and failed to complete, leaving your truck undrivable? Does your digital i.p. still work?
i just cant get into it for the price with a little engine and turbo. i really wanted to like this.
Me too! If this were a 6 cylinder turbo I would have this in my garage by now. What was GMC thinking, no truck driver wants a 4 banger no matter if it's 2.7 liter turbo or now.
To add injury to insult, it's a 4 cylinder that gets 18MPG..
With all those options was there one that gave you a bigger motor
Honestly this thing is plenty powerful. Not slow by any means. A turbo V6 like the 2.7 Ecoboost would be a sweet option tho
My 2019 and 2020 Ranger fx4 s had the inline 4 and even with 270 HP and 310lbs of torque it was plenty fast and your right Also on the trail all you need more of is torque I can imagine how quickly your truck gets off the line Bad ass truck no doubt but I still had to buy the Raptor it's just stupid fast
I’m looking at an Elevation with the Premium package at 48,000
You can get an AT4 with basically everything for $51000. To each their own though!
It’s tough because the AT4 isn’t that much more, but it’s also not THAT much different
@@703Speedbetter interior
For resale value I would grab the AT4
Yes, I bought a 24 Tacoma because it is the only one that has a 6 ft bed in the top trims.
Yeah that's a stupid limitation by GM, even if the long bed isn't a big seller. Both are cool trucks tho.
Is it true that when these computers update it doesn't turn off and the battery goes dead? Nice review. Peace bro.
I've heard of something like that. Not sure if its true though
GM fixed this issue.
I just has my 2912 Colorado trail biss in the shop 2 weeks ago. Rgwt had to reprogram tge fuel injection system. The next week the dam acdelci battery at 29 months has dropped down to amps so u had to get AAA to come our to my house because my truck would not start. I ended up having to buy a new battery for cost of 285.00.
@@harolddenton6031huh? My God. Proof read your posts before you hit send.
Yard= 36 inches, tailgate ruler is 48 inches😅
Yup.. Lol
It's a beautiful truck no doubt, but it's not a Toyota Tacoma. I've been trying to buy a used one (2017/2022) but them high prices $30K with 80K miles on it's ridiculous. I Would never pay that much for a used vehicle. My brother bought a brand new 2012 Double Cab Tacoma, 4" lift Pro -Comp suspension, 33" tires, for just under $27,000. Now days, the same that same truck is probably selling for the same amount lol Toyotas resale value is ridiculous.
There’s a reason for that lol. 80,000 miles on a Tacoma is a brand new truck if taken care of well
Tiny motor tyke lol 😂 Love the color overall it's a beautiful truck love the sad face look, but for the money the motor is very disappointing sad
It's a pretty good engine for what it is, though I'm sure the Ford guys wouldn't be happy with it since it doesn't come with blown head gaskets standard like a Ranger.
NO TOW HITCH! No Buy…
Then option it one with one ya big baby.
I switched to the 24 Tundra from My Silverado HD, GM is just too damn greedy, WHY do you have to pay for that paint job on the Canyon, it’s not a metalic special process paint, it’s just a money grab, screw GM, I’m done
It actually is Metallic…
Toyota has upgraded paints also you have to pay for! Don’t get your gripe. Besides you can get a GM cheaper than a Toyota in the same trim….not saying it’s a better truck but it is a better looking truck…with better all around accessories
A Tundra cost 10k more at a base model lol. You also pay for paint upgrades with any manufacturer. What are you talking about ?
Anybody that would buy any new vehicle from any brand is only showing their ignorance. 🤣
Why? If u have a business its a right off.
@@daphoneguy934 Oh so you would buy garbage just to keep from paying taxes? Oh WOW. Just WOW. People like you are the problem in this country, no wonder our country is going to crap, I'm guessing you're a Obiden voter too. 🤣
okay if we can afford it and it’s a reliable vehicle then what’s the issue
@@user-re3fd6jl5k None of them are reliable, and I bet only 1% of the population can afford them, the rest goes in debt for years and years just to look big to their neighbors. 🤣
@@daphoneguy934 You mean "write off"? I'm pretty sure with spelling like that you don't own a business. 🤣
GM continues to cut corners to be cheap and lazy. You lost me at 1 speed transfer case.
Pretty ridiculous imo
How is it GM being "cheap and lazy"? They still offer the 2-speed Tcase for those that need it. Why default to putting a 2-speed transfer case in a truck that someone will never be in a situation where its required. Particularly in the era of 8 and 10 speed transmissions that have such aggressive ratios in first gear that the reduction of 4-low is almost stupid (10 mph at 5k RPM). The whole mindset of the necessity of 4-low came from the era of the carbureted V8 and 3 or 4 speed transmissions where first gear might be 2.48:1, whereas first gear in the GM 8-speed is 4.56:1 and the 10-speed is 4.70:1. Like the guy said, if you want a 2-speed transfer case, all you have to do is buy one of the trims that offer it.
@@karlschauff7989 spoken like a true city slicker who has never gotten out of the concrete jungle.
@@703Speed It actually isn't if you look at the gear ratios of modern transmissions and understand why a 2-speed transfer case used to be a necessity back in the era of the 3 and 4 speed transmissions. This truck has a 4.56:1 first gear. Back when trucks had carburetors and a TH400 transmission, 4-low was really important because first gear 2.48:1, which is like starting in 3rd gear in this Canyon. The 8 and 10 speeds have taken over the majority of the work of gear reduction. It's the opposite of what the Tacoma was designed to need for nearly 20 years. The Tacoma had relatively tall gear ratios in both the manual and automatic transmissions, so the Tacoma NEEDED the gear reduction to be handled by the differentials or transfer case, hence why differential regearing is so common with Tacos (and the factory ring and pinion Toy used were crappy to put it nicely). The bottom line is if you want to do rock crawling with big tires, the 2-speed Tcase is available. But if the extent of your 4WD uses is driving in snow or mud occasionally and maybe going to a 33" tire at most, the 1-speed Tcase is not a noticeable limitation.
@karlschauff7989 thanks for skillfully explaining this. I appreciate it!
Looks worse
Nahhh
45k truck that gets 18mpg city and 23mpg highway. Hard pass.
Just curious, what kind of gas mileage should a 45K truck be getting? And then the second question is, what is in the market for the 45K you would choose instead?
I mean it's not too bad I don't think anyway
Complaining about gas mileage in a truck. Ok.
You want good gas mileage, get a Prius
Get a Tesla or any other EV. You don’t get a truck for gas milage.
