"Tinmama" 1940 Chevy build FOR MOM (Ep. 12) Front Control Arms

The "Tinmama" build series continues with some control arm work. Including new bushings, smoothing the arms, narrowtrack spindle kit, and adjustable balljoints. This is a 1940 2dr chevy sedan that I am building for my mom. It has been sitting in our backyard since 1990. Dad always had hopes and dreams of building it for her, but he never got to it, so in 2017 I started on it, full time. The car was complete November 2019 and was a top 12 finisher at SEMA 2019, but the build videos will be coming slowly over the next 6 months. Thanks for watching! • Tinman maybe you are upset about SEMA cacellation but thank you to bring it out to Isanti car show. Such a nice tribute for a long build. Totally different style than the Wild Torquey but looks amazing next to each other. Keep it up and hopefully Frankensteiners show still up this year!

  • Do you think any tall ball joint would work in similar applications? Also how do you normally apply that poly bushing lube, everyone says something different. Some people and instructions say to apply to all areas that come in contact with metal so outer sleeves, inner, and even outside edges in the case of leaf spring bushings. Other people only apply to the inner portion of the bushing with the grooves. Reason I ask is cause I'm having to dissasemble everything just to regrease all because of the squeaks.

    • I only put the grease on the inside of the bushing. Haven't noticed any squeeks. Usually squeeks with poly are from misalignment more so than the lack of lube. Best bet is probably contacting energy performance and see what they say though.

    • And no you can just use ant balljoint. Has to be specific for the vehicle you're working on. Too many different sizes, shank tapers, etc.

    • @@scottl3739 I've never had a push to connect leak. Just have to be using the right cutter to cut them square and straight.

    • Hey! Thanks for the kind comment. I'm still working on cars. Tinmama has been done for 2 years. The finished product can be seen on my other social media (Instagram/facebook). I'd like to get more videos out, they are just so time consuming.
