Science fiction visuals are cool for psychedelic music; classic tropes can be good as trippy
Absolutely

I know for a fact whoever listened to this in 2007 was on another level. This sound just feels so ahead of everything.
This album is undoubtedly the most 2007 thing alongside Halo 3

What the hell was I doing in 2007 that prevented me from discovering this incredible music?
Drum & Bass is 90's music XD my uncle introduced me in the 2000s so ur cool bro
I caught glimpses of D'n'B/liquid/jungle stuff numerous times in the early 2000's at stores in the mall, the tanning salon my mom used to go to, and on TV when I was a kid and I've loved the genre since.
Can’t believe I’m seeing you in these comments. Surreal! The champ has amazing taste. What’s your thoughts on the dubstep scene and have you heard of truth?

It still sounds futuristic even today in 2022
wipeout and other racing games from 2000-+ times still feel futuristic, more so than what we get today. its because of the music as well most likely. love it
Yeh D&B is inmortal :)
Listening to this on a train hits different. Sit back, take a look out the window and let the music carry you.
So damn true
Thanks, now I have to replay KS
listening to this while snowboarding on the mountains is a crazy experience
I know exactly what you mean lol, Or on a low floor bus going flat out on a main road.
I zoned out and managed to listen to the whole thing without realizing
00s atmospheric dnb definitely has a distinct vibe seperate from 90s dnb. The former is much more melodically controlled and less cold or weird (like most music of the 00s), with a distinct nu jazz influence. Reminds of a faster more frenetic Bonobo, Four Tet or Prefuse 73.
the 00s were best production wise, then in the 2010s dnb became very plastic sounding imo
@@lol-hk5tz i think the plastic sound came with a lot of the same samples being widely available on wav/mp3 maybe
Hell yeah. Prefuse 73!
@@olliezappy It's because everyone just tries to get the sickest and cleanest sounding mixdowns, which just ends up with the track itself recieving very little effort because it will just sell purely on how "clean" it sounds.

@@sofiacastillo967 That's what makes it hurt more sometimes
Maybe make sure to acknowledge, appreciate and welcome every new chapter in your life. Ending a chapter almost always sucks but everything that has a beginning has an end. Love life... but whatever. I know how you feel. 10yrs ago, the 90's felt just out of reach but, in reality...
I cannot believe quality music like this has been pushed into underground status. It's criminal.
16:20 is just pure magic

The track with female vocals is fuckin ridiculous 😊
I was like " watch this not but true" wrong! Incredible. I was wrong
funny, I just listened to the first bit of this mix, and specifically noticed that part, and was like, "I need to hunt that down later!" all I had to do was drop into the comments and click on the first timestamp I saw
i was just thinking "it would be nice to discover some new music that i can just listen to in the background" and here we are.
best part is that once you watch one of these they put all these other sick 90s dnb mixes right in your recommended. makes discovery sooooo much easier

this is one of the styles of music i've been trying to decipher. im a big fan of drum and bass from the 90s through the 00s, and i want to keep this alive.
Same!
is this genre called just "drum and base"? I discovered it about half a year ago (well excluding situations like playing UT etc) and don't know much about it yet. I mean, I like this genre also thanks to these atmospheric pads and synthv in the background. Is that a part of DnB style or this is some kind of sub-genre?
@@Fotel as far as i know this is atmospheric drum and bass, but i think sometimes you can find this style grouped with the rest of "old school" drum and bass.
Cool stuff, love DnB!
I like this genre too. For some time, and still. Maybe too many sub species. I don't know why 90% of the utoob hits come up with 'liquid' or 'intelligent'. They're good, but I don't want to get pigeon holed by an algorithm. Algorythym, or even an Al Gore rythm.
What a great mix from a by-gone era. My track with Pete Rann was actually "Sonar Sun" named after we visited the famous Barcelona festival!

Was doing some renos in my basement and this set rolled in on KZhead. I was immediately impressed with the track selection and the immaculate mixing. Was not surprised to see Nookie on the screen. Dude is from the 90s and used to roll with Good Looking Records. That Era was mind boggling for this amazing sound we are gifted with. The track that stands out the most is definitely Stunna's "Northside". First heard that track in 2008 on a Bassrdive radio show formerly hosted by Buzzblaze. Brings back amazing memories to a different time in my life. Anyone who comes across drum n bass/jungle...I believe you have a kind soul. This music is so positive!!

This was such a great sound, really wish there were still more DnB artists going in this direction
There are some still keeping the flame alive. It's making a comeback now too for sure. Modern dnb was a mistake guys. Roll it back.

When I was still in Germany, Berlin in the 90ies I was literally one of the only individuals into Drum & Bass. Even the clubs like the Icon or WMF only attracted little...I guess enough to keep going. I am glad that Drum & Bass has established itself and remains alive and well. Plus, the Internet has done wonders spreading this incredible style of Electronic Music.
How I went from listening house to this is beyond me, but I ain't complaining!
No idea why, but I’m getting vibes that this is what a school gym teacher from the 2000’s would play during gym class. I’m so glad I’m starting to get more delved into D&B!
Lol...DnB is the sound of the lower classes in England, and drug-fuelled illegal raves. Some of the ones here have a lighter sound, granted.
As a kid from the 2000’s who went to gym class He played radio music
people are sleeping on electro soul system
I've been trying to put my finger on that 2000s sound, vibe and feeling but it still eludes me.
It was made by people who grew up making the music on hardware and suddenly got actually powerful computers. Everything is tighter, more controlled and polished, but the mixing plugins weren't quuiiiite there yet so a lot of hardware processing was still used. That and the generally more hopeful/careless vibe of the early 2000s pre-financial crisis, when global warming was still a distant potential threat and the world seemed to be head towards more peace, health and prosperity, not a hellish blackhole.

Before even knowing who nookie even was, around this year (2022) KZhead recommended me this video near the end of April (Smooth: New Dimensions In Ambient Jungle (1998, Full Album) (it might have been in late April, idk it's been a few months) upon listening for a few sec, that was one of the most fresh albums and new genre I ever listened to. then around the time when may was arriving or so, (or in early may not sure) a few days or week later KZhead recommended me the first ever DNB album after that (Atmosphere Chapter 2 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2007). That album I would say is one of the most underrated ones of yet, still more to come through may and June. after that I found (Strictly Digital presents... Atmosphere Chapter 1 - Deeper Drum and Bass) and that one was also underrated album. then finding chapter 3 (only listening to it half way) then later on finding another album called (Total Science Volume 2 (1996), that album was awesome not like underrated but, an awesome album to listen to. then being able to listen to (Atmosphere Chapter 3 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2012) and my god that album is very underrated with 2 tracks in them (Plain Dialogue - Cala Pira) and (Alexus - Magic) beautiful tracks, and some other tracks from that album as well. don't get me wrong on the best tracks, almost every song in though albums are the best. Then going onto (Total Science Volume 1 (1995) that album was somewhat ok/good not the best album, then moving onto (Total Science Volume 3 (CD 1) (1997). a very/pretty good album I would say. as a new month began (June) I Then moving onto (Atmosphere Chapter 4 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2013) and that album is underrated one as well (Chapter 3 is by far the best on my list, the other ones are good but, chapter 3 is the best of the best). at the same time I start to learn/know who nookie really was and I got to say that the way he's mixed the tracks from (chapter 1), (Chapter 2), (Chapter 3), (Chapter 4), (Chapter 5) it's awesome to know that without him or his talent, chances are most likely channels like (4AM Breaks) or (Ambiance) wouldn't find these awesome/beautiful albums. then (Atmosphere Chapter 5 - Deeper Drum & Bass (Strictly Digital presents...) [2014]) which is a good album. as of writing this one (6/16/22 at: 5:40 PM) I enjoyed these albums through out may and June. thanks to nookie for the releases of these album and some of his songs he made in some of these albums. Fav Albums from first to last Album 1: (Atmosphere Chapter 3 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2012) - (Most Fav) Album 2: Atmosphere Chapter 2 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2007) Album 3: Strictly Digital presents... Atmosphere Chapter 1 - Deeper Drum and Bass (2005) Album 4: Atmosphere Chapter 4 - Deeper Drum And Bass (2013) Album 5: Total Science Volume 2 (1996) Album 6: Smooth: New Dimensions In Ambient Jungle (1998, Full Album) Album 7: Total Science Volume 3 (CD 1) (1997) Last Album 8: Atmosphere Chapter 5 - Deeper Drum & Bass (Strictly Digital presents...) [2014] The End. also yes this may feel like a spammed comment (and no that isn't the point of doing that, the point being is just to say how good these DNB albums really are and that you should listen them in fully if your into DNB or not. everyone's different in terms of how DNB sound to different people.)
