I do..A lot of settings to get used too but i like it. Primarily wanted to flip screen and the cannon was too much just for that option.
+Blackapino The Apple Guy I hear you man, the canon is a great camera.. I use it often, but it’s super expensive. This is a great camera when I’m doing more risky things where I may drop it. It films wonderfully in bright daylight

Hey Jordan. A question from a fellow Jordan. haha. I run a primarily kayak fishing channel and use a GoPro Hero 6 BUT it freezes at least once or twice per session. And I wouldn't mind having something that takes decent stills as well. What are your honest thoughts in 2022 for using the HC80 as a low cost KZhead video camera (1080p 60 fps) vs ? Thanks in advance.
I've referred back to this video multiple times. But this time after adjusting some settings to try to make smaller file size, and adjusting it back to the higher quality settings, the images are blurring and lagging. When I move the image on the viewfinder screen is delayed and blurring. I hoped it was only on the viewscreen but it turns out it's also on the video files themselves. Can you think of something that caused this, a setting I inadvertently changed? Or might the camera have crapped the best at the same time coincidentally?

Shaya Sussman it may be a class issue.. do you have a fast sd card? Something like SDXC class 10? I would look at getting a faster card.. or maybe you have too much stuff on your card? Try erasing your card using the “format” function and giving it another shot!

I LOVE your video on the Sony HX-80 camera! I got my wife this camera several years ago. NOW...she has the camera out and can't use it! She has a movie mode screen she is stuck in. How does she get OUT of this screen please? Too, going by your instructions, how can she leave the video mode and get back to camera mode for still images? I cannot say THANK YOU enough!!!

yes, i guess... when i zoom in on an object it does not focus at all...when i bring an object close to the lens on wide open it focus perfectly but whe i zoom from about 4 ft it does not focus at all

I have this camera and shoot just photos, one issue I have is after I shoot a photo, if I try to review it, I hit the telephoto button to "zoom in" and I get a message that says, "unable to magnify", do you have the same problem? or do you know how to "zoom in" on a photo, I've looked all over the manual and just can't figure it out. +Jaime Montes very strange, I’ve never seen that before. I’m in the middle of making an HX 80 video about how to shoot in slow motion, so I tried it and was able to zoom into my picture no problem. I’m wondering if maybe it’s the type of SD card that you’re using? That’s really all I could think would be the problem. I would try to google an answer or try a different SD card Thanks buddy!!!

Hey man watched a lot of your videos on the Sony HX80, my girlfriend just picked me up this camera because ive been looking for one to act as a video camera and also some basic photography. I was planning on using it to make youtube videos but really basic ones, essentially something that we be recording me talking. I was just wondering for a channel that is essentially me recording myself talking, what would be the best camera and is this an okay option for that? (I have an external mic I will be using so audio is no problem)
Hey man! So this camera has 1 particular downfall... the footage gets SUPER grainy as you turn up the ISO (even at lower numbers). So, in order to offset that... you'll need to shoot in a location where you have tons of light available. Other than that, it's a great little camera! If you're taking your youtube channel very seriously, you could invest in a dslr... but if you're doing it just as a hobby and to have fun, this camera OR even your cell phone would work great!! Also, good thing you have an external mic/recorder setup... because the audio is also a little sketchy.
For what I would be planning on doing it should be enough, I was originally going to use a cellphone but I prefer having a dedicated camera and the flip screen is very useful. Just one more question, if I want to improve the lighting would it be good to use white lights??
Awesome! A dedicated camera is always good. So, do you mean LED lights? If so, that would definitely help! Also, if you film outdoors OR near a window, that could help as well :)

I would use the best setting for video that I showed you in this video... You should still be able to fire off stills in that mode as well. If not, you may have to go into .mp4. I would just go out and try it, see what you come up with and let us know!
No luck taking stills with your settings or any others while taking a video. I used to be able to take stills but something happened and now I cannot.

Ok, so I've got a question for you. I've had the HX80 for about four months now and I've been recording in mp4 because I assumed that the quality wouldn't be any worse and that it would be easier to work with. My question is what do you think that if I switched to XAVC S HD I would see a quality increase, and if so what file type would it be so that I'll know if it will work with my editor. The reason why I'm asking is that my current memory card does support XAVC S HD and if I'm not going to see any quality increases I don't want to buy the new card.
It still uses the .mp4 wrapper. When shooting in XAVC S HD the footage is recording at 50mb/s which is over double what a standard .mp4 records at. So, in theory, yes.. your footage will look better because it will have been recorded at a higher bit rate. This doesn't solve the light issue though... you still need a ton of light to make this camera preform at it's peak.

+Stacy B. Awe, that’s awesome! So all you have to do is take the SD card from the camera and open it on your computer. If your computer doesn’t have an SD card slot, then you’ll have to buy a card reader that hooks up via usb to your computer... they’re super affordable;) Then just go through the card and find your video files. Super easy!

Question! I got this camera to record HD videos and to edit them on my iPad. I have the setting on XAVC S HD 60p. The play memories only imported my photos no videos. I got the usb camera adapter to plug into my iPad & again it only imported the photos! Any idea on what I should do?
Since you're editing the videos on an iPad and not a computer, I'm guessing that you will need to shoot in the MP4 setting. You should shoot a test clip in mp4 and see if you'll be able to import it. Hope that helps!!!!

Hi, when I have my camera set on AVCHD it will not let me load it onto my mac or phone. Playmemories home only allows mp4. Please tell me how you load your videos to your computer :(
+Ashley Christine you physically have to take the SD card from the camera and attach it to your computer. Click on it and look through the files to find your footage :) simple

+Light if you can’t shoot in that mode, I’d just use MP4... or upgrade your SD card. It’s worth the small investment to get the best footage possible 😉
