Hi molly, for tinea versicolor, i've also dealt with those patches for years and only recently was able to tackle it after seeing a good holistic dermatologist. it's actually a yeast overgrowth that takes place in the skin. you need to take an oral antifungal prescribed by a doctor or derm, and you can't just use any old dandruff shampoo i'd go with something like Nizoral or a shampoo that contains selenium disulphide, which you can also get prescribed. you can leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse it off so it can really work vs washing it off right away won't really be beneficial. theres also a specific tinea versicolor diet you can follow because certain foods can be the culprit that makes the yeast more active on the skin, so you could get it under control when you stop consuming those foods and eat more of other foods that have antifungal properties, and it'll stop it from spreading any further and get it all back to normal. normally you'd be required to cut out sugar and bread as well as alcohol and most fermented foods.

Hi Molly! Love your vlogs 😍 I really hesitate giving any tips when you don't know the full story and defo not to say this is the answer but really interestingly sometimes pigmentation issues can come from food allergies in particular wheat. I found this out because the same kind of thing happened to me when I was younger I randomly one year started getting pigmentation on my back and then had it for a few years consistently and then when I went gluten free it all disappeared. Then years later when I was studying to become a naturopathic nutritionist I learnt there is a connection of pigmentation with wheat allergies and I thought was so interesting and defo saw the connection in my own experience. I hope you find your answer one way or another! ❤
I agree with this, skin conditions like this are usually autoimmune, therefore substances like wheat and dairy that trigger your immune system can cause skin conditions like this to flare. its interesting because in the beginning of the video she mentioned that her diet hadnt been great lately, so this makes sense.
I also suffer with tinea versicolor and have been struggling with this for the past year now. Its really weird and interesting at the same time that you have mentioned wheat allergies. I have recently been told that I have a mild wheat allergy. So maybe this is why I’m also suffering from pigmentation. Molly, if you find anything that helps it go away please can you do a video on this as it will be very helpful x

Hi, Molly! I know tinea versicolor can be a frustrating condition to deal with. It’s exacerbated by UV rays so it’s really important to use sunscreen and sun protective clothing, alongside anti-fungal creams/shampoo to control the yeast overgrowth. I know you’re always outdoors and traveling, so this could possibly be why you’re not seeing the results you want. Best of luck!!! ❤️
I got tinea versicolor once and now it’s appearing slightly again. My doctor prescribed me some antibiotics and that helped clear it up, but it’s one of those things that comes and goes I guess

Hi Molly, try using selenium sulfide shampoo leave it on skin for 15 mins then rinse. Daily for a week then weekly for a month. If doesn’t work go to doctors for topical azole cream or terbinafine gel. If that doesn’t work you can even take oral antifungal tablets for it. Then you can use the topical shampoo or cream for prevention every month. It tends to appear in hot climates mostly in summer. Hope this helps x

Molly! Tinea versicolour is a fungal infection of the skin! Topical ketoconazol or clotrimazole for 3-5 days if typically what is prescribed to treat it! (Canadian pharmacy student recommendation)

I have pigmentation as well. Its not from stress it's from sun exposure as well as a build of dirt such as not taking off fake tan, sun beds, dirty towels etc. Hope you feel better about it 💛

Hi Molly - The discolouration on your arms could be an unbalance of yeast within your body, I live in Aust and have this also but on my tummy and back. After seeing a doctor they gave me medication and it fully cleared up. Hope that helps 🤍
It really can be from stress. Stress can literally cause anything. When I stress too much I break out in the most itchiest spots all over my skin and water makes it worse / starts it.

DermaZinc spray is the only thing that works for my tinea versicolor. It gets rid of it in a couple of days. Supposedly it gets triggered more in humid environments & mine gets bad after taking hot baths. Thankfully I found the spray so I don't have to give up my favorite thing to do.

Molly I think I mentioned this before and I really feel your pain on the tines versicolour because I had it in the exact same places as you and although it is only surface level it used to cripple my self confidence on holiday as I could never get a nice even tan and it was itchy at points, after years of using that 'ketazonale shampoo' constantly and having no success and then Dr's putting me on antibiotics for itraconazole to clear it NOTHING worked!! I was so fed up, so I went to see a nutritionist, who put me on probiotics for my gut as all the antibiotics had messed with my internal flora and then she told me it is yeast and gluten that caused it, so I cut all that out and only used coconut oil on my skin and nothing else, since 2-3 months passed it completely cleared and 3 years have gone by I haven't had a single patch return. don't get me wrong I enjoy gluten now and again now as I cannot live without the odd croissant or pizza but I truly believed mine was caused by this and you have to be really strict to eliminate it, or reduce at least by 90% in your diet and try free from. Let me know how you get on but any advice I can give to help I will! x
Also to add onto this people who are saying on here 'leave the anti dandruff shampoo on for longer or 10 mins ect' I would leave mine on for an hour and it is so bad for your skin plus it never worked ever, so until you have had it to the extent of 2+ years and are doing the same thing over and over you don't know how frustrating it gets hearing that :((

Hi Molly, my pigmentation comes out when I’m in the sun. Not sure if this is the case for you, maybe though as it come out whilst you’re on holiday? but when I stay in the shade/use SPF it doesn’t come back! 💕
