you missed many big names: alexander fu sheng, jimmy wang yu, andy lau, liu chiu liang, carter wong, mars, philip kwok, benny urquidez, brad alan, Nora miao, snita mui, chow yun fat. plus, there are many other household names. this video is a good list, though.
Moon lee and Mitchell yeoh.
Van Damme, shoko shugi,
Jimmy Wang yu
Seeing all those faces surely brings back some good memories. I grew up watching a lot of Kung Fu movies with my family and friends. Good to see the majority is still alive.
cant imagine jackey chan will go someday
Also Meng Fei. Cant leave out one of the most charismatic martial artist((Fong Sai Yuk))
Not only u, we all grew up watching kungfu movies, all born in the 80's will remember 😊
@@xavier3753 dude everybody has to go someday thats life.
@@MrMilirocksvlogs I was born in 99 but i remember all of them. So, not only 80s
I feel emotional to see my childhood heroes getting older, and the potential of not seeing them anymore in the big screen. Such a great actors and actresses.
So true. Its like losing the original authentic martial arts actors.
are you interested in then and now series?
David Chiang's back-then image in 3:24 is clearly Ti Lung, his famous partner in the Blood Brothers Shaw movies. Ku Feng's back-then image in 6:20 is actually young David Chiang.
I noticed that is wrong too
I noticed that right away
Yeah that was annoying.
@John Min yes...caught immediately.
i notice
Childhood re-lived!! brings back so many memories of all these Legends 🙌🏻🙏🏻
You're all confused! When introducing David Chiang, you used the photo of Ti Lung. When introducing Gu Feng (Feng Ku), you used the photo of David Chiang as the younger Gu Feng in 1973! You mean you can't tell the difference?
Yes, please change it 😵
ikr lol
Interesting video. But a photo of the young Ti Lung is used in the David Chiang section. I interviewed Chiang when he visited Bangkok in October 2014. He said he is still in contact with Ti Lung. They co-starred in many classic Shaw Brother martial arts films in the 1970s.
Cool story bro!
Wang yu ...Chen Kwan Tay ?
kzhead.info/sun/lNGTcdWvjoqhhJs/bejne.html the sauce
They all aged beautifully, martial arts does keep you young.
Bruce died as 32 because of brain overswelming because he got his sweat porres opersted away
@@archiebracker1038 sweat what?
@@mindrover777 yes his sweat kettles or what u call it his internal porres to sweat out of he got removed so he basicly died from over heating his organs swelming
@@archiebracker1038 wow, didn't know that. Knew it was due to swelling. But why would his sweat pores be removed? Any reason?
@@mindrover777 he didnt like the cosmetic of his sweat under his armpits in films. At that time u didnt know how dangerous it is
Man, life is short, seeing how these people have changed in my time, I'm 50 myself. Dragon Lee was one of my most favorite in relation to martial skill. There was such "connectivity" to his body.
Wow! It's crazy to know that I have seen almost all these stars (except a couple of them) in movies! I fondly remember Gordon Liu as Liu Chia-Hui from 36th Chamber of Shaolin! All these heroes have aged well thanks to their martial arts exercise regimen.
Me too here
My favourites are Bruce Lee, Jacky Chang, Samo Hung, Jet Li & Tony Jaa… And I love and respect Samo Hung for his fierce full actions scenes even with his big size… he also kept us on the edge of our seats with his action scenes😍
Yep, can relate to that on Sammo Hung!
Donie Yen ip man
@@Palestine__Will__Be__Free oh yes I missed him! My favourite Ip man! He looked so much composed, humbled and had a simple elegant effect of fighting style👍👍
Bruce Lee,Jet Li,Donnie Yen,Tony Jaa,Jackie Chan,Chuck Norris Are my favorites.👍
Watching this vid really bring back memories. I use to sit in front of the 32inch square TV watch all this movies with my dad. I even watch some of the actor on VHS. Years move on and I'm still watching some of them on my 65inch wide screen on tv box. Respect to all this artist. Thank you fill my life with joy. I'm so glad I born same generation with you guys. Sorry BTS I'm not your fans.
Gordon Liu was a bad ass mo fo in Master Killer aka the 36th Chamber. Yes, he's done many movies but that is definitely his best.
Double thumbs if I can
36th Chamber is still my fav kung fu film of all time
One of the greatest films ever made…
Those who carried water buckets in both hands after watching the movie, hit the like…
I miss Saturday afternoon “Kung Fu Theater.” 😭😭😭😭😭I Loved watching that with my Dad back in the 70’s. Good times. Miss you DaD 😞😞😞
Facts!
Really 😔
So sorry desire 🥺
You very wise man...
i didnt know gordon liu is still alive today... the last time i know is he is very ill back in many years, but any how i'm glad that he is well taken care of his health
in kill bill he looked great
My favorite martial arts superstar of the 1970’s and 80’s was CHEN KUAN-TAI. He was fantastic in such films as Heroes Two and Iron Monkey. I’m disappointed that he wasn’t included in this video.
Guy , they missed a lot of guys from those days & putted some who shouldn't be on this show because they're still working in the film industry. Chen Kuan-Tai was a great martial arts film 🎥 actor 🎭 & shouldn't been forgotten!! Tsst amateurs
Chen Kuan-tai?Iron Monkey? He did not star in Iron Monkey movie tho
@@becoolenough Chen Kuan-Tai starred in and directed the original Iron Monkey movie in 1977. He was very skilled in the Monkey Fist technique.
Chen Kuan Tai was a real fighter and fan favorite
@@rickyteee Yes 👍 he was , most memorable for his tiger 🐅 style fighting in Executioners of Kung Fu & Crippled Avengers' in a rare role as a villain.
What about Shoji Karada (Yasuaki Kurata), Chen Sing, and Wang Yu, three of the most popular martial arts stars of the 70's and 80's?
💯✔❤
Now the second video is being prepared, where these actors will also be shown
If only Bruce Lee was alive today. I loved every movie he made and just wished I could’ve met him. Unfortunately we can only watch him in his movies. RIP Bruce Lee.
The photo that they have for Feng Ku when he was young is a photo David Chang. In 1965, Ku formerly signed an acting contract with Shaw Brothers where he made around 100 feature films and became most notably known as one of their top character actors. He has worked with just about every top Hong Kong director in a variety of films like Chang Cheh in The New One-Armed Swordsman.
Yes, I noticed that mistake too. two different actors. That proves that all westerners see the Chinese 'They all look alike'.
SoulBrother I don't know the actor you're referring to, but , I do recognize the name . Lu Feng is the real life name of the man who played The Centipede in The 5 Deadly Venoms . I didn't want to a comment to the show here until I was sure. He's made another mistake about David Chan's colum . Although they're correct about David himself, however, they mistakenly put a picture of Ti Ling bare-chested on the side of David's picture. I know BOTH men when I see them . BOTH Co-starred in The 5 Masters of Death , Ti Ling is the disciple with the pole , a Wing Chun practitioner's weapon which Ling is a master of.
@@toh-ellgo3707 Yeah , including body structure right? I'm westerner who was raised on Chinese martial arts Cinema 🎥 starting with Jimmy Wang . I know oriental actors when I see them , even though I didn't know there real names at that time unless they were American names such as Bruce Lee, David Chan ,Jackie Chan ,Bruce Li ,Billy Chong , Dragon Lee Samuel Huang & so on . I know where you're coming from & folks do make idiots of themselves risking it all going on KZhead Land thinking they know what they're doing 🙄
Agree it’s David Chang.
I was about to make the same comment.
Ji Han Jae 1:17 is the grandmaster of Sin Moo Hapkido. His story is actually quite fascinating about his exile from Korea. I studied under him in Daly City, California. The last I heard he was teaching in Southern California.
Wow! I saw “The Drunken Master” as well as several of the other older ones when i was a little girl. Just now founding out that Jackie Chan starred in it. We watched so many of these as kids. My family loved these movies.
Years go by and everyone has taken such good care that they are still making movies. What a pity that Bruce Lee died so young because he would have been the best martial artist.
He is till now the best dude
@@veenatonne3330 nah
Bruce Lee is still one of the best martial artist it is very sad him died so young
in my opinion, he stressed/abused his body too much. until getting seizures and dying from an allergic reaction to medication. he didn't sleep enough and give the body enough rest. very sad.
@@stefanweilhartner4415 that young gwisha has a lot to learn
I used to watch all these guys on Saturday afternoons on a show called Saturday Kung Fu Theater which played two movies back to back when I was a kid. I never missed a show. This was well over 40 years ago. Today, I still watch these films all the time. I'm subscribed to quite a few KZhead channels that have them in their video library, as well as a few free stream movie websites that have them as well. It's always been one of my favorite movie genres.
I also remember Kung fu theater, it’s the reason I have been studying the martial arts for a bit over 40 years 😃
Gordon Liu played the long running character Pai Mei very well in Kill Bill Vol 2. since he had been in so many movies that involved the Pai Mei character played by other actors in his earlier years. Everyone on this list are amazing.
yuon biao starred in jackie chan movies and worked on over 80 films as actor, stuntman and action choreographer.
The legends of martial arts that no one can replace. Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Cynthia Rothrock, Cynthia Luster, Jet li, Vincent Zhao, Michelle yeoh, Bruce Lee, Gordon leu,,, i miss the old days!
@Comrade no! He is just famous!
@Comrade yes! Jackie chan is just famous among them!
Philip Ko, his using a different style in each hand in the end fight of The Loot was awesome.
We miss a legend Bruce Lee 😥😥😥😫😫😫
Take a bow, to these wonderful pugilists and masters for all their hard work and joy they brought to the world..👏👏👏🙏
These 3 characters are My all time favourite ❤️ Bruce Lee, Jet Lee & Jackie Chan
R.i.P. Jimmy Wang Yu. The "One-armed-Swordsman" passed today. He was the highest payed chinese Martial Arts Actor before Bruce Lee and his Movies were the first Kung Fu Movies shown in Germany.
Oh I recall One armed swordsman, the soundtrack was excellent
Growing up in Cleveland Ohio and going to the movies back in the 70’s and seeing 2 fu flix, I really loved those days and then almost everyone playing good and bad guys, everyone here was my favorite 🤩😍✊🏿
I am grateful for them all, they granted me an escape and brought magic into my life. Martial arts has been good to me, these artist have inspired me and I am certain many others. Bless them all! A whole hearted thank you!
Just to name a few of the many Kung Fu star's u leave out like lo lieh chi kuan Chun. Carter Wong. Chen sing.chia ling aka Judy lee. And there's many more that I can name
@BIG STAR-X, thanks for the good memories ! Just a feedback - the young David Chiang (with the long hair tail) is actually Lung-Ti. The young Feng-Ku is actually David Chiang.
You are right! Just was about to write it too.... Came straight into my eyes
Yes also the name as I've always heard him his Ti Lung. I noticed the mix-up also. I've lived in Thailand for 23 years now and I always loved the Kung Fu movies.
He made mistake about Ti Lung and David Chiang.
Gordon liu is my childhood favourite who made me to get interest in kungfu
Same here, now i am training Kung fu as well
They will forever be LEGENDARY 🏆 Thank you BIG STAR - X
Fantastic extensive video coverage of all the greats then to now! I still have no idea how Jackie Chan is even able to walk after all his body has been thru
Gordon Liu in 36th Chamber & Return to the 36th Chamber . . . Brilliant films. The Drunken Master series, too, with Jackie Chan & Yuen Siu-ten as Beggar So, are also stand-out movies.
Kitchen chef, that old teacher / comefdan guy. Was it monkey in snake's shadow?
I grew up in the 1970's and loved all of the early martial arts films, so this was a great history lesson. The prodigal son was a brilliant film, almost forgotten about now, as is Drunken Master, a genuinely great film.
@Proud Mary Yes me too :-))
I son't think anyone forgot drunken master. I even used to have a 'dance' style called drunken style that I made off it. Very influential film
Awesome video bro.. I'm little sad right now ,from all those memories that bring me back in some Good Times... Times where people respect the values of life .. We are getting old bro 😪 But..those memories will stay forever Thank you again sir 🙏
Bruce Lee is the youngest actor on this list what a legend he was 😃
He is older than most of the guys in here, just died too young.
Mach die Augen auf er ist nicht der jüngste auf der Liste gewesen
Excelente vídeo. Adorei o vídeo! sou fã de todos esses grandes artistas marciais.👏😊Nova inscrita do canal 🙏
It's crazy. I grew up watching these people and still watching them now. Sammo Hung. is one of my favorite Martial artist/ Actor and Director
You are a time machine!!! Took me back to my teenage with those b/w clippings. Thanks for this.
Muy bueno este reportaje, me gustan Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan y Jet Li.
This was a great video brother keep them coming. From the imperial co California.
Thank you so much for this video. I loved the old kung fu movies and wondered what happened to some of my favorites like Ti Lung.
so so so happy for JET LI...............seeing him healthy again like this after him being ill is heart warming.
One day we gonna Miss Jackie and Donnie badly🥺
It's all we have left. Martial art films are dead
Ones a man twice a child. Bruce Lee died very young😔
Born in 1985 I have discovered all the martial artists of the 70s by my cousin and was addicted to them. Seeing my heros became 60+ makes me feel ... something between nostalgic and melancholic. Life is really short isn´t it... saying that with 37 of age -.- dayum ...
Wow, excellent video! Miss the old shaw Brothers era! I just recently packed up all my martial arts videos, thinking about doing a Kung fu marathon after seeing this!
How did he mistaken the Young Look of David Chiang from Shaw Brother to an elderly Ku Feng??
I thought the young look is Ti Lung instead of David Chiang
It's amazing most of them are still alive.
Great memories and cool seeing them now, I enjoyed this, thanks!
Wonderful compilation. Jusss Loved it. Thanks a ton.. Subscribing you!
it makes me sad that they're all getting old and that someday they will be gone. But they will live on as legends.
absolutly awesome!!!!! lot of thanks from vintage kungfu fan!
Thank you to all you amazing martial artists for all your hard work and dedication and most of all the memories.
Thank you for this. These guys were great actors and actresses. I was wondering if you could do the guys from the shaw brothers films? The venoms mob films. Thank you again.
You missed a ton of them but I get it...The research not always easy to come by especially when it comes to the ol'school Asian actors...Some of them go into seclusion upon retirement making updates virtually unobtainable. There have been some of our favorites have passed on as well.
Bolo played the bad guy a lot, but he's really a classy guy.
Thank you so much please keep them coming love seeing these videos
I'm 56 now but gree up in the 70's. I whether in the theater or on local TV on Saturday afternoon I saw all those early 70's movies..I have not watched in 40 plus years but remember every single one of those faces. Amazing. All the themes were the same which was avenging a family member but still entertaining. We called them 'Kung Fu' movies. Brought back some memories for sure!!! Can still hear the Shaw Brothers music.
JET LI ,MY FAVORITE ACTOR 💪🙏
Mine too
To age gracefully is a blessing. Youth is time gone by.
Casanova Wong deserved a shout, he was my favourite martial artist movie star in the 80s originally from South Korea, fantastic kicker, check out Fearless Young boxer also known as method Man.
The old Hong Kong made these legends! Salute to the old times! Salute to the power of freedom of speech, press and publish!
"7 Grandmasters" is a must watch if you are a true fan of back in the day martial arts movies. Check it out
Seeing my actors back again bring tears down from my 👀 eyes, because I started following this guys right from my child hood, I miss them all, both those who are still alive today may God bless em an give em more life, I like kun fu stuff back then an we will live to remember u all, how time fly, good memory's lives forever/ we all must get old/ but the most important things we pray for long life,
These are the real stars inspired and entertained the audience for decades,a big saluate for the team made this video!👌👏🙏
Donnie Yen has an incredible genetics, ages appropriately. Asian cuisine brings a lot of trouble to their older generations, being prone to diabetes and putting a lot of msg and sugar and oil in the food.. After 60 it should be smart to go pescaterian , especially in places near the water. We all destroy our bodies one way or another, but for example of Jackie Chan, that damage is .. insane. Taking care of the bone and blood is a must..
"Asian cuisine brings a lot of trouble to their older generations" What utter nonsense. First of all, Asia includes China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia etc etc. These are wildly differing cuisines so to lump them all together and claim a) the elderly suffer due to the food and b) they all use a lot of msg, sugar and oil is ridiculous. Secondly, I live in China and see a great many old people leading healthy active lives. My wife's grandmother is over 80 and has no issues, cuisine-related or otherwise. Thirdly, at least in China, families do not eat "restaurant food" for their daily meals, let alone the Western skewed version of their cuisine. When I visit my wife's family, nothing has sugar, very few dishes use msg and there is a wealth of fresh vegetable dishes on the table.
@@al201103 Well I lived in China, Japan, Malaysia and currently in Thailand and none of the places had really healthy foods. Sugar and oil were put in a lot, Japanese deep fry and eat ramen like crazy, Koreans eat a lot of meat. I think you are just lying for the sake of lying. Which is ok, cause I know the truth already.
@@lovelife1867 I'm really not. Are you only eating in restos or eating in homes as well? I'll give you that there can be a fair bit of oil used, but there's a lot of fresh stuff as well. If you ARE mostly eating in restaurants, well that's not going to be super good for you (in China I've been through stages of eating a lot of delivery food and it's packed with bad stuff - but most people cook for themselves)
@@al201103 this is why in Thailand we have new places that grow all the vegetables behind the restaurant and picking them to put onto your table. This is 20x healthier than getting generic som tum salad with sugar and msg. I've had such a horrible experiences with huigorou and roupian, I was literally drinking liters and liters of water just flush myself out. Any mian is pure carb, and baos clogged my colon for days. In order to have good and clean food, one has to eat veggies with some fish, less rice and avoid starchy things at all cost. I would eat sashimi all the time but that as well is not good cause of parasites and rawness of the fish..
Of course....there's no permanent in this world.....even this world is not permanent.... Everything come and go. No exception.
Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane. But it's sad to see my heroes get old...
I think, according to some in the Ji Han -jae, is now residing in Tucson, AZ. He left Monterey, CA years ago after his divorce. Sammo Hung's one movie that moved me into what I would be expecting as I aged is; "The Bodyguard" ( not the Kevin Costner one). Didn't Huwang Jan Lee died already?
Este foi um dos melhores vídeos do canal!!
I started laughing when I saw Stephen Chow on the list. He's the master of comedian. Not so much for Martial Arts.
True😁
他真的会武术的,只是做喜剧多很多人就以为他不会
He a master at breaking people funny bones
The same way I feel about Jackie Chan…he’s a clown
man promote kung fu in his own way
i wish your channel be the best ... thanks
I hope you can give me information about Bruce Khan which I think is a Korean martial artist
Badass kung-fu stars!!!
Master 🙏🙏🙏
I was born in 1955. Grew up in Singapore in the 1950s and 70s, so I have seen all these film stars. Thanks for showing all these. But a few of them are not actual photos of them. Overall, good job!
The Picture of the old Feng Ku is right, but the young one is David Chiang. So under "David Chiang" in 1973 you set a Picture of Ti Lung.
Very good bruce lee is love
👍👍👍
Every Saturday night was Kung-Fu Movie Night! Jet Li is and will always be my favorite of these stars.
These were my college days memories... Real felt happy after watch this my favorite heros in this video.. 1)Bruce lee, 2)Donni yen,, 3)jacky chan,, 4)Jet lee,, 5)Tony ja...
I love how some of the stars appeared in the IP Man Series paying homage to the Master of Masters
so many great martial artists, thanks for the video, it was interesting to watch. so thankful that my dad brought me to martial arts when i was 6. one reason why i liked to watch these movies when i was older.
Glad to see Gordon Liu in here. Master killer is my all time favorite movie
Rongguang Yu. He was fantastic in Iron Monkey with Donnie Yen ; Shanghai Noon, New Police Story, Karate Kid with Jackie Chan.
You can really tell who let themselves go and who maintained themselves. Very impressive & something I admire/ hope to maintain as well.
I am so surprised. Many of these "Kung Fu" stars I have always known them as Hong Kong TV(B) stars in their older ages. Never thought they were well known Kung Fu stars in the early years and went down on acting career. Very interesting video!
Gordon Liu is the face of kung fu theater on channel 5, way back in the day..
What's really sad is that these legends are getting old and I don't see any newcomers taking their place to continue the legacy that has been started. Can anyone name someone who can continue the journey for these legends?
Time goes by way to fast. If i hadnt seen this video , many of these people in their before pictures is how i remember them and then seeing the now, shows we can escape father time. We have a short time here on earth and short time , short range being youthful and then we fade off. Crazy.
Very good video especially if you loved Martial arts back in the day and still do wonderful to see the old Martial arts stars. Maybe some in the comment section could suggest names that may have been missed out for a part two video
Chiang Sheng, Lo Mang, & Philip Kwok were my favorites.
We all grew up watching this kung-fu super star in the 80's n 90s.
