  • There's two I remember, but can never find; 1. Scottie Pippen [NBA] was with the Blazers (post Bulls era) and his team was down by two. He was at half-court, realized he didn't have enough time to make a play, so he started to walk away and chucked it behind his head... *and it went in for a 3-pointer.* His team starts celebrating, and Pippen looks confused, before realizing what happened. 2. In the early days of helmet-microphones [NFL] they didn't always work perfectly. One time a quarterback (for the Miami Dolphins, I think?) was ready to take the snap, but looked over to his coach, confused. He jogged down to a foot away from being out of bounds, tapping his helmet to say "i can't hear you". When he stopped, the Tight End rushed in and *snapped the ball as the quarterback,* the QB took off as a Wide Receiver.

    @MindOfGenius@MindOfGenius3 жыл бұрын
    • There was a Cleveland Browns with the ole Johnny Manziel who did that same "helmet cant hear you" thing and then took off a WR. Not a great career for that kid, but that play was great.

  • 5:59 - Intentional safeties are pretty common in Canadian football. The rule differences are subtle in many cases, but one result is that if you’re punting out of your own end zone, you’re probably going to get scored on shortly after. It’s usually smarter to just give up the two and hopefully get better field position for your next drive.

Edit: Rewatching it looks like it wasn't moving fast enough to make it to the wall, but still impressed.
