Doug with a podcast is actually huge. Kinda personal and more informal
he’s been on the smoking tire podcast a few times and they’re great listens every single time
I’m so happy this pod exists.
I don't know, was always hilarious them ignoring all the actions they were supposed to be talking about.
I'm gonna poddd!
Do you mean THISSSSS!!!?
@00:00 Intro @00:12 Car News @16:23 Market Report @26:32 Cyber Truck @30:50 The M5 @41:40 Sold Land Cruiser(and others)
As a 4Runner owner it’s ALL about the rear window. New Land Cruiser is awesome but the rear window doesn’t roll down… for the same price I would still take the 4Runner
rumours say the new 4runner will drop that legacy feature.
TRUE
@@octoslut if that’s true I would look into an R2 instead. Wouldn’t buy a new SUV without that feature now that I’ve had it.
What do you need it for?
@@blackwhirlwind1245 dogs!!!
Amazingly I think the new Fisker died even faster than the old Fisker. It’s really quite an accomplishment.
The entire era of new-Fisker has came and went like a stinky fart, I don’t think I’ve even seen one on the road yet still but I might be wrong
The Genesis lineup is literally a GTA car IRL.
the coupe is literally from gran turismo so yes
Doug is probably the best suited to do a car podcast on KZhead. He's been doing the car industry for a long time and as he's also a business owner knows/ has access to buy/sell trends. His opinion matters.
Also doesn't do his research. He said LC starts at $40,000. It actually starts at $55,900 before delivery.
@@FeLiX13sLaVe he's infallible like everyone.
@@brendendas can't rely on someone to provide context when the data they are providing is off by 30%.
I joined the Fisker Ocean owners group today to see the hilarity
Right!? All those sucker owners. All 12.
Are both of them angry?
I still want one
I noticed an Ocean in the Walt Disney world, Gold football (Executive) parking lot a few months ago and was like, what is this car company?! Bet he or she is regretting the purchase.
@@alexanderjules1869 don't do it sir. By an old Cayenne Diesel. Dieselgate warranty 6000lb tax deductible and 35+mpg
The land Cruiser is not in the $40k-$60k range. It's in the $58k-$70k range ignoring the first edition trim. Toyota has a price gap of $40k-$60k which is where the 4runner is going to slot into.. That being said, the LC is so close in physical size, I'm very interested to see what they're going to do.
Agreed on all your points. I wonder if the same size situation is resolved simply by having enough demand for that type of suv that even though they compete against each other, both can succeed
also, i hope that he addresses what kind of land cruiser we get in the US since this is the land cruiser Prado, which is a midsize land cruiser we never got until now and only existed as a Lexus GX, while the LX600 is based on the full size LC 300 series, although the "midsize" LC has more interior headroom and around the same legroom as the "fullsize" LC
I was shocked that three dudes sitting in front of a laptop can be off on the price of the land cruiser by $15,000
@@ne6nk I was too. Especially since Toyota has been saying it was going to start in the mid $50k range for months before they announced official pricing. Mistakes happen. But that one was a bit surprising.
Doug stepping up his game, ditched the goodwill t-shirts to a CARS and BIDS t-shirt 👍
He needs two of them on in different colors.
This is the 2nd show in a row to mention Ryan Schultz and E39 Source (Hoovies M6 conversion, now Kennans M5 “spa day”). Can we get him as a podcast guest?
Doug the type of guy to start a Podcast and then auction it on Cars & Bids
Doug is the type of guy to keep hitting the podcast table every 3 seconds.
I have an odd theory about the 4Runner. What if it's a reboot of the FJ Cruiser? two doors, sectioned roof you can take off, with two clamshell doors?
A tip 987 for $12k is honestly worth it. IMS was _mostly_ fixed by '07, and on those higher mileage engines it's less of a concern. Good aftermarket forum support, and the 6 spd. manuals didn't like to keep 2nd gear anyway.
There’s a name I didn’t expect to see here. Go watch this man build cool stuff after you listen to the pod!
@@briane8156 I’m everywhere. At all times. Haha thanks for the kind words!
1:42 it’s not complicated or strange. It’s going to be a Tacoma without the bed. Simple. Same engine options and I want you to say even same transmission options which implies a manual coming back to the 4Runner.
I’d get a 4runner if it came in a manual
Apple should buy Fisker and make their 4 models Apple Cars. The design aesthetic and innovative features fit Apple perfectly. Apple can then take over the software and easily make it the best in the auto industry. I think it could be massive
yooo filippo is back? i'm sold
You have to start wearing headphones, you all keep talking over each other and it’s not good. 😘
100% it was a little hard to listen to
@@Djs685 it was a good english practice for the learner like me haha
100%, they're just getting started so i dont blame them, but this podcast has alot of potential. Invest in some headphones 👍
doug's tongue seems to have a mind of its own
The Audio is a lot better than last week thank you!
Great format, enthusiasm of all for cars (and buying them) is infectious.
"1000% a model 3", the new one. I agree 1000%. I now can afford a 911, but with the leading EV's right now, the question is WHY would I do that? You can chase a childhood dream or drive the futur now.
Really enjoying this, thank you!
I was surprised with the collective hate for the Ionic 6 styling. I think they look great.
This video is a good reminder that sometimes auto journos just say things without taking the time to fact check. Doug is saying the Land Cruiser occupies the $40k-$60k space. The Land Cruiser starts at $55,900 before delivery. Maybe 4Runner alongside LC would make more sense to him if he did some research prior to recording.
I was so excited for Fisker, but Mkbhd out here helping a start up tank itself.
It's crazy to see the Car Care Nut's 600,000mi LS430 brought up on this episode! As a huge fan of Car Care Nut and also a big fan of LS430s and 400s, that segment of the podcast took me by surprise and made me happy
Great podcast Doug! Your vidz are always informing and interesting and this podcast just ices the cake. Great work. God bless you and your Family!!🚗🚙🏎
i love that this just starts, amazing podcast
Yes, magma is what's in the Earth. Lava is after it erupts. From what everyone has said from the NY auto show, Genesis plans on giving all models the magma treatment and that the US will get all of them. That coupe is a concept, but it will be made in some form or another.
Love these podcast please keep it up
The last discussion regarding the LS460 reminds me of a scene from Crocodile Dundee 2. A man comes away from a video by car care nut, that says the LS460 is worse than the previous generations. He stumbles upon a man that says he's got a Doug. "A what?" "A Doug". Out comes a man in a t-shirt with the certainty of an expert mechanic and says: "Doug!"
Great content, I’m excited to see this in podcast format 👍
I'm so happy to listen to THIS! podcast
Very excited for the car spotting videos!! I was inspired by your spotting vids I tried doing that in Coronado island a year ago and it’s fun to drive around with someone and just look at interesting cars.
Google earth or traffic cam car spotting in unusual markets (Egypt, Bolivia etc)
I have been waiting for this podcast for so many years.
Love this stuff! Thanks.
I was sad about CaB Live going away but this is really excellent. Love the topics and you three have outstanding chemistry.
Good format for this new show!
Two episodes in and this is already my favorite podcast!
Commenting again to say this format is great. Looking forward to the next episode!
Great podcast. Thanks guys.
OH YEAAAA MORE DOUG!
this pod is very very good keep doing this we need more doug
Love it. Keep up the good work all!
Kennan, unless it’s gonna rust, you should consider rocking the patina in a car like that. I make decisions the same way on my 1997 high mileage manual sedan. Mechanical stuff comes first.
Good stuff and fun, so reminds me of a certain old car show I miss and could get into watching this one, show more pics of the cars you are talking about
Doug is a great talk show host 💪❤️💪❤️
Great job guys
Hi from Riyadh 😂 Its great here btw.
Magma is molten rock underneath the crust of the Earth. As soon as it comes out and hits the air, it is Lava. 😅 I don’t know why I remember that but I do,must’ve been those volcano science experiments with vinegar, and baking soda.
This is giving off Top Gear news segment vibes and I love it
Doug wants to be the new Clarkson and host a new Top Gear-like TV show... nice!!
Great stuff! Please consider using headphones.
52:50 I think the 2010 Mini JCW is one of the most fun cars ever made. It’s sad the hot hatch sub compact market and hot wagons aren’t more popular in North America. Although my dream daily is a Porsche 911 S/T I know it’s just that. A dream. What if you want similar fun on a very meager budget? The only other daily with some practicality that provides an exhilarating driving experience for me is the jcw. Gives me the same kind of feeling Doug gets in the Countach. Would love to know what others think.
The Mini Cooper thing is so spot on. My grandparents went from owning 2 big Infiniti sedans to a matching set of manual mini countryman’s with matching inverse color schemes… because they were cute. Black with silver wheels and accents and a white roof, and silver with all black accents and a black roof. They have maybe done 40k miles in the 13 years since purchase
An H2 is 'yikes' now? Come to Boulder County, Colorado. They are still regularly sold for 20k-35k.
I like this format
New site looks great.
The new LC starts within a few hundred of where the current 4R TRD Pro starts at so I think the 4Runner will just stay in its usual price range
Podcast 🗣️🗣️🗣️
This reminds me of Top Gear news and I love it
Fisker is done! Depending on the tides, Lucid and Rivian will be next!
As for 4Runner vs Land Cruiser, I too used to believe they were gonna make the 4Runner a Bronco Sport of Toyota, but now it's clear that they aim for the same situation as it was in the 2000s Japan and some other markets where TLC Prado coexisted with the Hilux Surf (4Runner). In Japan they were essentially the same vehicle with not even the luxuries and the full time AWD differentiating the Prado, cos high spec Surfs had those as well. And it's not that unusual for Toyota. In the states I think you've only got the Camry, in Japan Toyota sold the big RWD Mark II, the Cresta and the Chaser - all 3 nearly identical, the Crown, the Corona and Carina, which, again, were about the same size, the small Tercel, the Corsa, the Starlett, the huge, almost an SUV-sedan Vista, which in some generations was nearly identical to the Camry, the about the same size Carina ED, the smaller Corona Premio, the Corolla wagon called Caldina, the Probox, another wagon, the offroady wagon Carib, previously called Sprinter Carib, the Sprinter, the non-hybrid Prius thing called Platz, the futuristic Will-S, the Crown Majesta, which is apparently not the same as regular Crown, a RWD luxury sedan, the Altezza, the Avensis - and those are just sedans, hatchbacks and wagons off the top of my head😮 Kind of like how GM had countless brands with hugely overlapping niches back in the 60s and 70s.
What keeps LS460 prices low is the high cost of maintenance when compared to the previous generation LS430s and LS400s. Look up common problems (mainly suspension and brake actuator failures), see what the repair costs are, and how likely are you to run into those repair costs multiple times during the ownership of the car. You simply don't run into that with the previous generations.
TRD trims are (as of now) only going to be available on the 4runner. The 4runner has historically had far better approach angles than what the new land cruiser has, even in non-TRD trims. But if someone's looking at a Limited or other higher price on-road trim of the 4runner or base land cruiser, there's a lot of overlap.
Love your guys podcast, everything about cars and with cool people like Doug Demuro is always cool... I simply wanted to respond on the Lexus LS460, I've heard that this model in particular is extremely unreliable,to rather opt for the previous LS430 but to run from the 460 models.
I think viewed in a bubble of only Toyota/Lexus, the 460 is somewhat less reliable than their average (front suspension wearing out in early 460's etc. etc). But i would take a 2014 LS 460 with 120K miles over like, a brand new Equinox any day.
Filippo: "Kennan's is probably the best kept E39 M5 in the world". Sreten: "Hold my strawberies".
M5's don't actually cost $30k. You have to factor in another $30k to fix everything wrong with them 🤣
Still 50% of MSRP
4 runners are basically a rougher riding highlander as far as size. ( close). Amazing how they can do this and keep a large following
I love your contents.
Doug, this is a great format. Really enjoying it. Kennen(?) is full of great stats, commentary and info, he's great. He doesn't make for a good solo-presenter, but he is in his true element as a foil to you and your other guests. He knows his stuff and it shows. Having Hoovie on was very, very cool. As a commentator for Barrett-Jackson, he is under-used as a roaming-commentator. He should be to to work as the 'color-guy' on the actual auction-block cars as they pass before the potential buyers. I would love to get his take on some of those offerings, for better or worse. Anyway, definitely subscribing to this channel, so glad you are presenting it. I hate to say it, but I like it more than your usual car reviews. The three of you shooting off opinions and critiques is priceless and so informative. Keep up the good work. Check out my question for you all. I'm dying to know the answer.
hey doug I like these videos, but it would be good if there was timestamps for the different topics.
i would love that the market here in Colombia is as cheaper as US :( Keep doing this, Doug!
Nice set nice cameras.
Fun show. Thanks
I didn't think I was going to like this but, it reminds me of why I subscribed to Doug in the first place!
the reason 460's are as cheap as older 400's is because the 460's have well know expensive reliability problems compared to bulletproof LS400-430's
Is this coming to Apple Podcasts, Spotify etc?
I still remember watching that video of Doug roasting and crushing Filippos spectra 😂
I'm on a roadtrip right now and less than a minute after the former ocean segment came on I say a foster ocean pass me on the highway.
I recently sold a headache car and I know that exact feeling Doug describes in this as my entire body feels lighter.
On the last discussion about Lexus LS prices, I think the main reason they’re so cheap is that the kind of buyer who buys a used luxury car isn’t looking for a full sized sedan. The people in the market for used luxury cars are mostly young (under 45) and young people don’t want those land yachts, if they’re looking for a sedan they generally want a midsize and if they want a big car with lot of space they’ll go for an SUV. The market for full size sedans these days is exclusively made up of people over 50 and people that age have saved up a lot of money, they don’t care about the depreciation hit and for the most part they’re buying or leasing brand new cars.
could the camera a be moved a little to the left in the wide shot?
Thank you
do u think the v10 r8 huracan platform will go up in value? also notice the cheapest f10 m5s were all 2013 lol those were before the TU with the ugly steering wheel still lol
I think they will make the 4R an enclosed tacoma. I think they will build it in mexico alongside the tacoma. Between the 90% part-sharing and the cheaper manufacturing costs, they will drop the price, as you mentioned, to $35-55k range. That slots it just below the LC.
not entirely sure, but the Genesis coupe on the far right in that photo of the magma collection looks very similar to the Genesis VGT in Gran Turismo 7
53:55 I think they're saving more of the batteries for Silverado, I actually think it would be a mistake to make too many of the Hummers.
43:30 😂😂😂😂 I am 22 and do regularly look at other Volvos to add to my beige v60 and silver 9-5
6:14 oh yeah, the Genesis Vision Gran Turismo, made by Genesis for the Gran Turismo racing game as a concept car that may, or may not, become an actual car (the new Supra was based on the FT-86 Vision Gran Turismo concept and the McLaren Solus is a production version of the McLaren VGT)
Why haven't you reviewed the Škoda 105 L (or 120 L or 125 L)? :) I believe there is 1 in the whole US and definitely a lot of them in Canada.
All these cars are too expensive. We need less inflation, less greed, and more help for the little guys. Period.
What about that Italian number plate? Didn't expect that
Doug is the kind of guy who blinks his eyes to the beat of a song
Anyone have a link to the Hyundai offer they were referring to?
These podcasts give me top gear vibes.
PDK Cayman sounds like a fun track car at those prices.
I just got in an accident with my beloved 2017 i3 REX. Good luck. really fun car.
