This week, I traveled to the beautiful country of Iraq. All my life I'd heard of the war in Iraq and how dangerous it was to visit, but I wanted to go there and explore if for myself to hear the stories that didn't make it into the media. So, along with Drew Binsky, Lexie Alford and Cory Martin, we were taken around Iraqi Kurdistan by our amazing guide, Baderkhan.

"it doesn't matter whether you are Yazeedi, Muslim, or Jewish we all pray to the same God" He was saying this while the three of them had their arms on each other's shoulders pretty much hugging each other...i love seeing things like this that was so wholesome I love to see people from different parts of the world from different cultures showing respect and love to each other that's what it's all about ✌️ mainstream media forces people to think that we're all so different and that we cannot mingle with each other and that of we do we won't get along and that it will be awkward but in reality we're all so similar and can enjoy and respect each other's company and cultures and can even be brothers and sisters
Mainstream media is very much on the left side of politics and are so easy to claim racism or any other type of bigotry, yet they deal in identity politics and segregation, which is incredibly bigoted. Identity politics stereotypes people of a certain culture, subculture, lifestyle, etc. People should not be defined by what they are but by who they are. Are there bad people in these cultures? Of course there are. But there are also good people. We should not be ignorant about cultures and ask people of different cultures about their culture. Not only are they happy to talk about their culture, but knowledge removes fear. Ignorance and the unknown is fear. Unfortunately, thanks to mainstream media, we are living in a pandemic of fear.
Jews do not pray to the same god.. They literally do not.
Beautiful message
In Iraq, our religions differ, and there are also many nationalities. We love each other and live in peace. I love them all because they are my countrymen.

I needed Baderkhan’s laugh. His laugh has literally turned my day around.
Badar khan's story really touched my heart because I have a similar story to him. I was born and raised in a city called Idlib in northern Syria, you might have heard about it on the news. I had to leave my school, friends and relatives behind at a young age, I was 9 years old. My mum took me and my 4 other siblings and we went to the Turkish border and we met with a guy that will help us smuggle into Turkey because we had Syrian passports but we couldn't get in. So the only way in was to go through fields and it was tough for my mum because she had to carry my younger siblings because they couldn't walk long distances. Then I remember when we got into Turkey, the Turkish people are the most hospitable and caring people you could ever meet, because I remember it was winter time and we had no place to go to or sleep so we just sat in a park and cuddled up to stay warm and we had no food. Then a Turkish man seen us from his house and came over and gave us food and water and we were so grateful for him. Then we went to Ankara airport and took a plane all the way to Manchester airport that is in the UK were we met up with our dad because we haven't seen him for over 4 years because he rarely used to cone home because he used to work in Greece and send the money to my mum back in Syria. And the way my dad came to the UK is way more difficult than the way we came in because he had to cross freezing cold rivers and damped fields at night so he wouldn't get caught then when he got to France he jumped into a loaded truck that had baby milk powder and that almost killed him because it was air seeled and he had little air to breath. But Allah didn't want him to die so when he crossed into the UK the police caught him and took him into the refuge hostel in the UK to have a place and make documents for us to fly from Turkey to Manchester. So when we got to Manchester it felt like it's a new chapter in my life because I knew that I can see my dad everyday and I'm able to live in a safe environment and go to school and complete my education. So when we met my dad in the airport I can still remember this like it's as bright as day light in my memory, I remember we were looking for him then when we recognised him we ran so fast and gave him the biggest hug and kisses then we got a national express bus the the city my dad was in. It's called Liverpool and that's when I went to school, I started in year 5 when I didn't even know a single word of English so wheb students used to speak to me I just nodded my head to them. But now obviously my English is 100% better than what it was 7/8 years ago😂😂. And the 2nd chapter or i should say tye 3rd chapter in our life was when we officially became free because on the 26th october 2019 we had a ceremony at the st georges catgerdial in Liverpool and wr got our British citizenship and that was a really happy time for me and my family because we felt free to travel to places were we couldn't go because we had no passports. All thanks to Allah because he is the one that planned this life for me. Alhamdulillah my family is safe and happy and I'm so grateful for everything that has happened in my life because my studies are going well and currently I'm in my first year of 6th form and I can't wait to see what my future holds for me. Because after 6th form I'm going to university to study Dentistry and hopefully become a dentist. As an American who has also visited the country, I can say that so many have the wrong idea. It was a beautiful place.
Hi Yousif, I just want to tell you Iraq is not synonymous with "terrorism and war" for a lot of people in the world. When 9/11 happened I was a little girl. I remember everything of that day and the years that followed. I remember the hate aimed at Arabs, Middle-Easterners and muslims totally uncalled for. I always felt so deeply sorry for the people of Iraq (and Afghanistan) who were victims twice: first of the regimes and then of the war and instability that followed. When I grew up and it came time to choose a university, I chose to study languages, literatures and cultures. One of the languages I chose was Arabic. I wanted to know more about the language and by default about the culture, the history and the people. I never had hate towards Arabs or Iraqi on the contrary I was super curious to know about Iraqis. Since the first images I saw of Baghdad I wanted to go there and visit the place. Now I'm almost done with my degree and I hope I will be able to go there. Sorry for the poem I wrote, lol it's a long winded response to your statement only to say that a lot of people are curious and benevolent towards you
"Politicians spread hate to divide us in order to rule us easily" end quote. Oh, he's back in. Nicely put.
Honestly one of the coolest channel’s that is on youtube, really pleasant and enjoyable to watch
from someone thats originally from syria that saw the war for a good 7 years i understand the struggles and im so happy to see that our brothers in iraq are still doing good even after all the wars they had may god keep everyone in the world safe and protected
Thank you, our brothers in beloved Syria. I hope that the Syrian people live in peace and love. You deserve and more
"And later on people will not call me a terrorist, they will call me a tourist." This is truly one of the saddest things I have heard in a while.
29:28 "The people of middle east, we suffered from terrorism more than anyone else around the world." Food for thought.
in addition "don't stereotype us with terrorists"..🙏
@@janche Would you say its also part of the religions of the West and culture too? Given the amount of bombs dropped and countries reduced to rubble, not to mention the genocides by these countries. Terror is not part of the religion, very ignorant statement.
@@janche or maybe it’s due to the large concentration of Muslims in one region in turn extremists are bound to rise as in the case of the KKK in the US, you shouldn’t correlate a religion with 200 different sects under one umbrella.
@MaskeD DEATH read it first and then say what's wrong with it
@MaskeD DEATH you say this yet Dubai is your girls dream vacation, I don’t have time to argue with someone this arrogant.
Beautiful country and kind people. I hope for their country to find peace and let everyone rebuild their lives. I am so against stereotypes, I am glad you were able to show people that you can't just lump people together and treat them as a single entity instead of as individuals.
What an incredibly beautiful video. I want to go and immerse myself in the culture, warmth and human ness of these people. From Australia. Hugs
What a pleasure it was to host Yes theory in my home 💙 The video turned out even greater than I expected, thank you Thomas for coming to Erbil and using your voice to amplify love and empathy. Matt and Ammar I wish you were her as well hopefully one day we can host the whole Yes theory fam in my country.
Big hug from Chile!
Love & Peace from Malaysia 💙

Yes the Country of Iraq, Or please stop taking money from Baghdad.
This Prison damn my dad got tortured in this person and when i show him the video he got a goosebumps and started crying! He said that some people stayed 4 days without food and some people used to break the bread down into small pieces so that pigeons come and eat then they hunt them and eat them alive. Im happy my dad is alive and sad for everyone who lose their fathers there.
that’s incredible
Oh my god. I don't know what to say. So glad that your father is ok.
That is crazy man, on behalf of myself and the others who saw this comment, it is an absolute honor to see you here. I respect you so, so much after seeing the reality and truth of Iraq, such difficult things you people go through yet you still find ways to enjoy life. That is something I’d give my life to do. We all love and appreciate you, I hope you are ok, your family and friends too. No one should have to go through such an experience as that and to know you still come out on top is remarkable, honorable, impressive, and amazing. Love you and your dad so, so much man. Best of luck to all of you ❤️💞
يا الله، الله يخليه لكم و يعوضه بالدنيا و الآخره و يرحم من مات. الله يعيد عليكم و على الشعوب اللي تعاني الأمن و الأمان🇸🇦🤍🇮🇶
@@swiftsword6489 fr my heart was heavy and near tears seeing such a rich culture and wonderful people be affected like this. I can only imagine...
Kurdistan is where my family comes from but it’s not very well known so it feels good to be represented on a channel as big as yours. Glad you had fun there :)
26:09 got me emotional. It's beautiful to see how incredible it is to work with people. Zaim, I can't spell his name, met one of his idols and that has put a genuine smile on his face. This makes me happy.
“People will not call me a terrorist, they will call me a tourist” Such a nice quote
Love thissssss
This documentary should be on a bigger platform, like Netflix or something. More people need to see this. The filming, the way they show the culture. It’s beautiful. ❤️
Completely agree. Unfortunately statism is not just a north Korean thing.
No will make a documentary based on lies, Disappointed in Yes Theory for not fact checking before publishing some guy who drives them around North Iraq spinning up factless lies to fit his personal narrative and manipulation.
I am from Iraq and today I dream of emigrating and marrying from America and finding a job
THERE IS NO COUNTRY IN THE WORD AS KURDISTAN..IT IS ILLEGAL NAME.. It would be more correct to call it Northern Iraq instead of Kurdistan. Since the Turkmen, who have owned that geography for 1000 years, are only seen as a minority, then the Kurds are also a minority. That is Northern Iraq.
right thanks a lot
Baderkhan is the most beautiful human beings.. Thank you for sharing your story and the team for showing us this part of the world. Hopefully the people will get to experience peace one day soon.
How is this channel not at 50 million at least I don’t understand!!! 💯❤️🔥 thank you for spreading peace, Togetherness & love around the world! 💜💜💜
Can we all just take a minute to appreciate the hospitality and energy of Baderkhan? His way of living is such an inspiration, even after everything he’s been through. Thank you for sharing this; you just got a new subscriber. Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴
Bedirkhan er herlig han ser positive delen i alt og man blir omringet av energy fra ham.
Come to Kurdistan man
Most of Iraqis have the same way of living, especially those who suffered a lot
Så kul att människor från hela världen ser på denna video. Hälsningar från Sverige!!
When he said “no matter if we are yeziti, Muslim, or Jewish, we all pray for the same g-d.” That hit hard.
Literally.
i wish that he wouldve said, we all pray for the same thing, same God offends people. for personally i dont care!
Me too! My welled up.
Luke 6:27 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you”
@@frederichmarciano7052 With all due respect, they’re all based off of Judaism anyway so it’s kind of sad that Christianity refers to these other religions as enemies.
With LOVE we can change everything. Love Batyrkhan!! Thank you for the great video. Love from Azerbaijan, Baku.
I love this video! I recently went to Kurdistan and this does a such a great job at showing the beautiful people and land!
Im an iraqi ( from mosul ) and this is great and weird at the same time watching my favorite KZheadrs visit my own city , I myself as a 16 year old girl who lived through the war and loads more from my grandpa getting kidnapped and tortured to loosing everything we owned i still love my country and so happy to see this, i wish one day to write a book about my story my country to let everyone know how strong and beautiful this country is and its people.
And I'm waiting for your book Keep going
Send me the first copy!!!
Wishing you the best on your book and hope you have a great time ahead....
I wish that they visited baghdad and mosul
@@alton.9360 Thank you so much, i thought no one will see the comment or anything and now i want to start so i dont make you wait!
"Never look back. We might walk slow, but we will never stop." That quote hit hard.
I did not expect to get emotional after watching this, and i'm from the Philippines. Love heals everything.
The condition of those ancient buildings is really impressive! I wonder what makes them so different from the ruins of rome and greece which haven't held up nearly as well.
it doesn't freeze in Iraq? (my guess) freezing can destroy rock in a single season, if moisture gets in.
Honestly, videos like these are so progressive for the general westerns society view on the middle east, it is people like these who are changing the world for the better. one experience at a time. thankyou guys x
YES! We need a netflix series to send this message to everyone! This should be viewed more than Birdbox !!
The kurds have always been pretty progressive. In Syrian Kurdistan they are very close to socialism.
@@becczy_942 such a western thing to say.
@@becczy_942 Nah, we don’t need “a Netflix series” about everything. The guys are really popular on youtube and that’s great
Exactly
I really liked seeing Lexie's perspective too! It would be great if she - or any other girl - could be present in more videos. I've often felt that many of the typical "Yes Theory experiences" would be a lot different, if not dangerous, through the eyes of a girl (e.g. the hitch-hiking videos, alone in a city for 24h...), so it would be very encouraging to see a girl succeed in that too.
This!
YESS yes theory please look at this!
Agreed!
This!
yes please !!!!
Thank you for an awesome video. It totally changed my view on Iraq and actually changed me to put it in my bucket list of countries I wish to vist. Keep up the good work. Best wishes from Norway.
Beautiful! To seek discomfort is to find enlightenment!
I full on broke down crying when the guide said all Iraq needs is love. This and your Afghanistan video have given me a fully new perspective on these countries and how welcoming everyone really is.
I thought I was overwhelmed with feelings, but you're so right.. It's a beautiful thing these guys are doing.. restoring my faith in are fellow Man and Woman.. Because he's right it's up to us the real and normal people of this world and not the politicians who lie, kill, deceive, and divide us .. no more , ignorance is a choice.. I choose Love
Americans don't realize how evil and dishonest America is...until they see reality.
This is not Iraq it’s a different country
Have you seen his Syrian video?😭😭😭 I've been crying since 10pm
Me too. I never been so emotional watching a vlog in KZheadr. These are the contents thats should be recommended.❤
Wishing Matt the best. Hope we see him when he’s ready to come back. 🥰
What do you mean with "come back"? He is not leaving, only doing a different job there.
@@jonershi8403 come back on camera
Yea come on that was pure click bait and was very sad that yes theory would stoop to that shit he's hasn't gone anywhere, also people only want to see Thomas, there's a reason he does all voice overs
@@gregorywalsh5073 It wasn't click bait, it said he was leaving KZhead not yes theory
Kurdistan is not Iraq Go to Mosul hi to Baghdad
Don't know how you guys did it. You have open many eyes, including mine. Just started watching. I have a lot to catch up on. In this short time you have made already a big impact on me. THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Totally agreed with Baderkhan, after the minute 35 everything he says it is just pure gold.
