This was one of my favourite sessions from what had to be one of my favourite tracks days. Brilliant fun!

M54 engine was a beauty. I love older cars, so much character
A good driver in a slower car will always be faster than a slow driver in a faster car.
That is a nice thing to say, thank you. I loved that Z4, I kind of miss it.
And a Z4 fitted with a shorter final drive will be much faster again!
That little M Coupe looks so good. Great rear end stance.
What a sound!
Best engine for Z4 ❤
The correct shift points are everything. 03 Z4 with 3.0 and 6 speed here....ZHP.
Excellent driving.
Thanks. I've moved on to other cars since but I still miss mighty Z4 3.0 .I keep looking at them on ebay!
I had the M54 3.0i and traded it for a N52 3.0si. I'll forever miss the sound my M54 made.
That M54 lump was indestructible and it made a lovely sound. It always seemed to have more than 230 BHP as well.
Which is a better engine overall? They’re both pretty bulletproof?
@@Eastcoastcarclub My friend has a 3.0si in his 130i. He drives it like an absolute lunatic and never has any issues. I think they are well known for durability and the extra horsepower probably makes it the better engine.
I missed the Cadwell BMW CC day in 2018 but should make it this year. I will be in a Z4 rather than my previous M3, so my headrest camera mount is now redundant. Your video looks great - can you tell me how/where you mounted the camera? Thanks!
I use VHB tape to stick a mount on top of the console that houses the CD multi changer. That's it!
That's what I'll do then - thanks!
Z3 M was pretty quick up front.
I've exact same car, any handling mods? Also sounds great, have you removed any foam from the sound generator?
The only handling mod is a H & R ARB kit. I found the handling to be a little too safe, a RWD car shouldn't under steer and mine did on the limit. The ARB kit helps it to corner flatter and handle more like a RWD should. I took half the foam out, quiet on a run, throaty on full throttle.
Great video I have the 2.5 and love the sound but yours sounds mega have you had any exhaust work done as it sounds much louder than stock?
I traded this car in a while back actually. I had an active microphone mounted in the passenger foot well. This is where the sound generator vents into the inside of the car so it was ideally placed.
peter thomson nice defiantly worked very well! Have you got another Z or moved onto something else?
@@jamesstrutt2792 Yeah moved on to this little beauty. I still miss the zed from time to time, cracking car. kzhead.info/sun/raaqmbp6rHOcrK8/bejne.html
@@peterthomson1239 what you would say about your new car vs the Z4? I own a 3.0 M54 like yours and thinking to change with a Boxster 987 or 981.
@@robertoquerini8220 The Z4 M54 3.0 is THE best car out there in terms of value for money. It goes well, handles well, looks great. Another great feature is that the engine is extremely strong and has no known issues. The Cayman is superior in every way except one, it does have potential issues and can be expensive to mend. I had mine bore score checked and it was OK thankfully. To sum up, the Z4 is like using a sledgehammer, the Cayman is like wearing ballet shoes. If you can afford a Cayman S 987.2 then definitely go for it. The only car I've driven that exceeds the Cayman in terms of driver satisfaction is an F430. They are about 80K!
Nice track !!! Is the z4 engine stock ? What is the exhaust system ?
Stock engine and exhaust. It was a fairly standard car and punched well above its weight. Brilliant car.
The sound come from engine not from exaust 😊
Is that the 3.0i that you're in there my friend? Sure sounds like a straight 6.
Yes it is. It really does seem to punch above it's weight, great little car.

@@peterthomson1239 Great stuff, I own the exact same car and have to say that it's very under valued, my friends are always shocked by how good its performace and handling are. It's a right little gem.
@@Mike649foxx If you turn up to a track day in a zed people expect a haircut, they don't expect to be overtaken! I'm going to miss it.
Looking at Cadwell this year in my 2.5i. How did your brakes do? Any fading or issues?
With the right fluid and pads you'll get no issues. I used rbf600 fluid because it is extremely robust. It lasts much better than dot 5.1 as well. On that day I ran with EBC orange stuff pads and they were magnificent. EBC bluestuff are a bit cheaper and also very good.
@@peterthomson1239 cheers for the info mate. So u don't think I'd get away with greenstuff pads?
@@Z4loorit green stuff are awful. Red stuff are not much better. Yellow stuff are borderline. Blue are the minimum standard for a track day really, anything less and you'll be in the paddock with overheated brakes most of your day.
Is it the 231 hp or 265 model? Stock engine (apart of pipe)? Thanks
Only 231 BHP, the engine had no mods. It went well considering.
Hell they missed the z4mcoupe
